The other filled up very swiftly - so I assume a need for it’s continuation.

Please don’t ever stop posting. You will only get pushback from anyone who wants to either justify insanity or remain willfully ignorant. Countering misinformation and providing context is very much needed when discussion revolves around such a habitual liar as that orange felon.

This thread is great, it's a running picture we need to know about. I hope Bannon gets the welcome he deserves. Yes, wondering what will happen re the budget in March.

imaround I echo what many other posters have said - please keep us informed. Your posts are invaluable.

Here is a funny bit of civil disobedience.

After Elon sent an email to all federal employees giving them 48 hours to respond with a list of 5 things they did this week to justify their jobs, someone leaked the email address the responses were to go to.

And then the leaked email address went viral on social media.

Musk is receiving millions of emails now. smile

foxie48 Mon 24-Feb-25 07:01:07

Do post the email address if you have it. I'll send Elon an email!

An alternative to Pres Trump’s Ukraine strategy: insist that Ukraine joins NATO and Russia stays out in the cold, until Putin agrees to pull back from some conquered territory and promises never to invade Ukraine again. Have Trump & Hegseth given up their best cards already?

Years ago Ukraine gave up its nuclear capability on a promise that Russia would not invade. So much for Russian promises.

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 24-Feb-25 07:50:15

Oh yes, imaround , I'm with foxie: I'd love to send Mr Musk, a long, very detailed account what I achieved on the day designated.

Your posts are full of clear information imaround and I for one thank you for them. Like *MaizieD, I follow a lawyer but an American in my case and your posts add breadth to their information.

The Stars and Stripes flies upside down on El Capitan. (Can't post the photo as GN has discontinued that facility, due to it being abused recently on Mumsnet.)

Statement by the Alternative National Park Service - ““The purpose of this exercise of free speech is to disrupt without violence and draw attention to the fact that public lands in the United States are under attack,” it reads. “The Department of the Interior issued a series of secretarial orders that position drilling and mining interests as the favored uses of America’s public lands and threaten to scrap existing land protections and conservation measures. Firing 1,000s of staff regardless of position or performance across the nation is the first step in destabilizing the protections in place for these great places.”
“These losses, while deeply personal and impactful, may also be invisible to visitors and members of the public — we are shining a spotlight on them by putting a distress flag on El Capitan in view of Firefall. Think of it as your public lands on strike.”

The Facebook page is "The official "Resistance" team of U.S. National Park Service. Our mission is to stand up for the National Park Service to help protect and preserve the environment for present and future generations."

Other US organisations and individuals have also flown their US flags upside down, an internationally recognised signal of extreme emergency and distress and need of assistance.

Do post the email address if you have it. I'll send Elon an email!

I think it may be [email protected] and possibly if you add a number from 1 to 8 in between the HR and the @ it will go to a specific member of the team.

If you go to the park site in my previous post and scroll down, there is a thread of useful suggestions for what to report in your email.

Elegran Mon 24-Feb-25 12:39:16

Another useful email address is [email protected] That will probably be read by a member of staff, not the president. It may also be filtered out as spam.

Stay polite.

Before you indulge your inner demons, maybe just check that you are not jeopardising entry into the USA at some point in the future when you fire off your emails. Should you wish to visit that is.

Elegran Mon 24-Feb-25 13:30:20

Personally, I had never planned to visit the US before this, and I can't see myself doing so in the foreseeable future. If anyone wishes to email the OPM or the president while keeping themselves anonymous for any future visits, they can always buy a burner phone to use.

Some people are prepared NOT to be anonymous when confronting power.

Why are YOU so interested in my (non-existent) connection with the US?

Casdon Mon 24-Feb-25 14:47:12

I think it’s you who is psychologically invested in the USA ronib, because you keep popping up on every thread where it’s discussed, dissing our government, and telling us not to interfere or express views on what is happening in the USA. Why is that, surely people can have opinions about what’s happening there without being shut down or quizzed about their views?

Wyllow3 Mon 24-Feb-25 14:47:17

Thank you for that detailed information, and Elegran. Really valuable to get the details not just of what the government is doing, but how people are standing up to him.

Casdon Mon 24-Feb-25 15:01:09

I didn’t hear you raising any issues with people from other countries joining Reform in the UK ronib?

I’m on the sofa ronib, taking a break from the ironing, how about you?

Wyllow3 Mon 24-Feb-25 15:14:24

Sooner or later the issues of the US's secret services was bound to come up - whether in the "cost cutting/laying off of people or in attempts to intervene in other ways. This CNN report is beginning to address it

How Trump’s government-cutting moves risk exposing the CIA’s secrets

edition.cnn.com/2025/02/24/politics/cia-security-risks-trump/index.html

"Washington
CNN

The CIA is conducting a formal review to assess any potential damage from an unclassified email sent to the White House in early February that identified for possible layoffs some officers by first name and last initial and could’ve exposed the roles of people working undercover, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

That’s just one of multiple aftershocks from President Donald Trump’s push to take a jackhammer to the federal government – including the CIA.

The administration’s efforts to cut the workforce and audit spending at the CIA and elsewhere threaten to jeopardize some of the government’s most sensitive work, current and former US officials familiar with internal deliberations say."

"a senior career Treasury Department official delivered a memo warning Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that granting a 25-year-old computer engineer with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency access to the government’s ultra-sensitive payments system risked exposing highly classified CIA payments that flow through it."

(and more to gt a full idea)

Wyllow3 Mon 24-Feb-25 15:23:18

Pushback to Elon Musk's demand for emails from every single employee details or risk being fired what they had done in a week, from some Agency Heads:

CNN
"By Sunday evening, leaders at the Pentagon, Federal Bureau of Investigation, State Department, Department of Homeland Security and Department of Energy had all instructed their staff not to reply to an email that federal workers received from the Office of Personnel Management on Saturday afternoon with the subject line: “What did you do last week?”

Some managers, including at the Department of Health and Human Services, instructed workers to comply with the request to send a list of five accomplishments from the past week to a generic government email address, only to later reverse course. And others simply told their staff to wait until Monday — and not to reply to the note before then.

what shoes and distress Musk, Trump and co are causing.

MayBee70 Mon 24-Feb-25 15:35:04

You know what’s worrying? I thought about sending an email but then thought that they’ll have my details and I might be on some kind of hit list shock!

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 24-Feb-25 15:51:12

MayBee that's a hitlist I'd be proud to join.

Might get a knock on the door in the middle of the night, though!
