The other filled up very swiftly - so I assume a need for it’s continuation.

Thank you for the Colorado pictures. its liken person said on the video, by coming together you feel more hope and less isolation.

Reported yesterday -

Trump team ‘lobbying Romania to let Andrew Tate leave country
The hard-right influencer and his brother, Tristan, have had their passports confiscated after being charged with human trafficking.

(The Times, but behind a paywall)

Part of the "freedom of speech" agenda? But to support a sex trafficker and woman hater like that...

HousePlantQueen Tue 18-Feb-25 12:29:24

Would the Farage supporters on here like to comment about this? I believe that their man admires the Tate brothers?

I've been dealing with my sons injuries from last night, so I am not sure what all is happening here today. I see Trump won a court case and lost 2. I'll catch up this evening while taking care of my son.

And presumably join the administration, possibly hired to make sure that those who champion women’s rights are made an example of.

He is doing OK, thanks Babs.

Elon is headed to the gold reserves in Ft Knox next. The last time it was seen was in 1974. People believe the gold is no longer there. I think if it is, it will be gone soon.

Trump says that Ukraine should have never started war with Russia.

Trump is the ultimate definition of an idiot. Heard him in the news on LBC mouthing off about "you shouldn't have started it (the Ukraine invasion) in the first place. You could have made a deal 3 years ago. I could have made a deal."

And you can bet he was aiming at the Ukrainians - after all, he's busy trying to keep his New Best Friend Putin nice and sweet.

I have to wonder if the anti-Communist, ultra-Right rednecks who put Trump in the White House might be thinking that he's been a closet Communist all these years?

ronib Wed 19-Feb-25 04:25:14

So exactly what is the alternative proposal? Keep fighting/slaughtering ?
Putin will never back down.
Zelensky was not best advised by Boris Johnson 3 years ago.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 19-Feb-25 06:38:34

Zelenskyy’s country was being invaded for heavens sake!

What advice would you have given him?

Give up? Give. In? Roll over and die?

A country’s leader has no choice but to defend its borders in the event of an invasion.

What possible deal could have been done?

Trump is talking rubbish. He has never been successful in any of his so called deals. Look at North Korea or Afghanistan- nothing happened in one case and absolute disaster in the other.

Trump has already conceded stuff to Putin even before talks start.

He is not someone you would want on your side because he is so useless.

Wwm2 effectively by not agreeing to concede land 3 years ago, Zelensky delayed the time when he was going to roll over and give in. A really smart leader knows what battle to fight and Ukraine was never going to win this war.
Despite Boris Johnson saying the Uk was standing shoulder to shoulder etc - that didn’t exactly go according to plan either.

It is time to face reality. I weep for the needless deaths.

LizzieDrip Wed 19-Feb-25 09:42:23

So ronib, let me get this straight…

Your view is that when a country is invaded by an aggressor, the leader of the invaded country should immediately give in and concede some land to the aggressor?

Which bit of the UK would you concede if the UK was invaded?

ronib Wed 19-Feb-25 09:50:57

LizzieDrip waiting 3 years and losing countless young soldiers hasn’t resulted in saving land.
My impression is that before the start of this war, 14000 Russians had lost their lives in border skirmishes with Ukraine. This border dispute didn’t just flare up but was longstanding and Putin took control as he saw fit at that time.
He wanted a satisfactory resolution to an ongoing dispute. It may take a while longer but there’s no way that Putin won’t get the disputed territories.

LizzieDrip Wed 19-Feb-25 09:55:28

So that’s a ‘yes’ then, in answer to my question?

I just think both Putin and Trump are utterly disgusting!

There’s valuable minerals in Ukraine, the whole thing is a travesty.

Totally beyond belief!

This man is such a dangerous idiot!

Being mates with Putin and Natunyatu will do him no favours long term.

LizzieDrip Wed 19-Feb-25 10:18:44

Trump is trying to twist history; trying to make us disbelieve events that we’ve witnessed with our own eyes.

This is what dictators do!

It’s what violent, abusive narcissists do … “I had to hit you. You made me do it because of what you said. It’s your fault that I hurt you. You stared it”.

The man is a monsterangry

Rudyard Kipling wrote a poem about that. The Danegeld demanded by Putin (or any other expansionist aggressor) is not money but the land of another country, but once it was handed over, he would have stationed his troops there and planned to be back for another helping.

Dane-geld
A.D. 980-1016

IT IS always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
To call upon a neighbour and to say:–
"We invaded you last night–we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away."

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
And the people who ask it explain
That you've only to pay 'em the Dane-geld
And then you'll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say:–
"Though we know we should defeat you,
we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away."

And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we've proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say:–

"We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that plays it is lost!"

Ukraine was part of Russia and for some reason, had been given away. We know so little about the history and details of the gift and how antagonisms arose. There’s no good waxing lyrical with Kipling imo. A hard look at the history behind the conflict is more important.

LizzieDrip Wed 19-Feb-25 11:33:04

The history of Ukraine is easily Googled, for those who wish to understand it.

My reading of it shows a country seized by Russia in the past - not ‘gifted’ or ‘given away’. The fall of Communism allowed Ukraine, as with many other parts of the former USSR, to become an independent, sovereign country - as it remains to this day.
