Zelensky - is Trump ousting him out to make way for a Putin choice?

Thinking Putin wants this hero out in order to put his choice in his place. The outrageous lies spouted by Trump are surely a signal that this is exactly the plan. Kalensky has held his country together. Trump is goading him in an attempt to promote an election which can’t happen as the war is ongoing but also to force one so the corrupt connivances of Putin can weaken Ukraine.

I’m not so sure, if USA wanted to, it could beat Russia in its current weakened state, if it was just those two powers involved. The big risk of course is that it wouldn’t be.

The US could beat Russia hands down anytime it wanted to.What we have all seen is how useless Russia is in Ukraine.

This is very dangerous talk, there are 3 uncertainties.

Russia could strike western European targets, its not possible to protect every target in Europe, do you want a missile hitting your house.

China could supply Russia with armaments, or even worse strike Taiwan, NATO would be in trouble very quickly, munitions are already depleted.

Russia could make a nuclear strike.

Escalating the Ukraine war is very dangerous talk

Dabid49 you really don’t need to speak to us as if we were children with less understanding of the dynamics than you. Of course the dangers are understood, we aren’t 8 year olds having a classroom discussion, and don’t appreciate being condescended to.

Then stop behaving like children

Has it escaped you that this is a discussion site David49? In this environment we throw around different ideas and thoughts, people come from lots of perspectives, but that does not mean we are unaware of issues that we are not discussing on that thread. Our views are as valid as yours, so stop telling us what to do!

Calm down , we can discuss the world situation without it being labelled ‘dangerous’.

Trump functions by trying to scare, sending out contradictory messages all over the place, creating chaos is part of the plan - he hasn't actually got a working plan for peace in the Ukraine!

David49 Thu 06-Mar-25 14:00:25

Yes chaos is the order of the day, I dont like Trumps negotiating style but it gets results, even the Arab nations are serious about a Gaza solution, opinions here on GN are not going to change anything.
In particular only a fool gets involved in a war with a maniac like Putin, sometimes you have to back down and accept a defeat for the greater good in that I agree with the US. As for those demonizing the US, maybe ask those nice Chinese people for permission to live there.

Wyllow3 Thu 06-Mar-25 15:30:24

I'm not sure it does get results, actually. Quick defensive responses, yes, but long term trust?

when we think of all the stuff gong on around Ukraine, all the dramatics, where has it actually got towards peace plan? ditto Gaza?

Trump said today he thinks it may be easier to work with Russia. Like I said, he wants to be in the winning side -and it s more likely to be Putin.

Thank goodness we didn't back down and thank goodness for President Roosevelt and the USA troops.

Trouble is that Trump fancies himself as a Great Peacemaker,

...but he isnt.

To be one you have o respect the parties involved and be respected by them. he's well messed up with Ukraine and shooting his mouth off on Gaza to no result from either.

mae13 Sat 08-Mar-25 03:47:33

God alone knows which way Trump will jump next: Ukraine then pro-Russia then anti-Europe then anti-Russia then pro-Russia then maybe both pro-Russia AND pro-Ukraine then anti-Eutope again.......his maniacal mind-changing has to be a definite sign of some kind of mental illness. And he's given an un-elected rich man baby total power to run the White House, which indicates that although Trump is President of the United States it is only as a figurehead.

Elon Musk has bought the reins to the Oval Office and therefore has his finger on the nuclear button. What a world we live in.

Trump is very unpredictable, he is obviously not pleased it way that Russia has stepped up use air attacks on Ukraine. That shows a lack of good will by Putin finding a peace solution, my worry is that he will decide to reverse his position.

There are a lot of countries lining up to support Ukraine, will he call Putins bluff, do a U turn and say OK you want to continue, we will provide weapons, you provide the troops to do it,

I’m somewhat surprised to see that you thought that Putin was in any way motivated by ‘goodwill’. Isn’t it obvious that he doesn’t feel an iota of it, David?

Whose position reversal are you worried about, and why?

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 08-Mar-25 08:21:42

Indeed MaizieD, goodwill and Mr Putin are very unlikely bedfellows.

Churchview Sat 08-Mar-25 09:43:41

Well I should think your worry is valid David because all Trump seems to do is reverse his position. He has been inconsistent in any single action since his election - except perhaps getting plastic straws back in circulation.

Trump-
- is a bad judge of character,
- is unable to predict the outcome of his actions,
- has no organised strategy and no prepared plan B,
-is unable to communicate in a concise and compelling way,
- has no empathy, emotional intelligence, integrity,
- is inconsistent, dishonest and without decency,
- he can't read the room,
- has no sense of humour
- appears incapable of learning from his mistakes
- is devoid of self reflection.
- he has the vocabulary of a child and a limited grasp on world history.

He has zero respect for the law, women, the elderly, sick, poor the environment or animals. He aligns himself with white supremacists and has repeatedly been unfaithful to his wives.

It's as though the seven deadly sins were designed specifically with Trump in mind.
