Deputy Speaker of the Israeli Government
(86 Posts)Well, he’s a lovely man!
Nothing new there, the Israeli govt (not the people) are as bad as Hamas. Both want to entirely wipe out the others population. Disgusting!
Response from a Jewish Israeli
''We swore never again. As Jews, as humans, as the descendants of the murdered. And there is no pleasant way to write it: in the country of israel founded by the people who were victims of the most brutal genocide in history, these days the idea of genocide is normalized. Sponsored by and from the ruling party.''
Full text from Ron Gerlitz, translated from Hebrew
''Advocate Kinneret Brashi is a journalist, close to the prime minister and comes to court time after time to support Netanyahu. After the shocking release of Eli Sharabi from Hamas captives, who indeed looks like a Holocaust survivor, she explicitly called * To kill all Gazans, from babies to old people *. See the picture in this post. There is no other way to interpret this because there is nothing to interpret. It's a direct call to total genocide. How did the Prime Minister respond to this call of his associate? In the silence.
Member of Parliament Nissim Vatori from the Likud is Deputy Speaker of the Knesset. Yesterday he called to kill all the elderly men in Gaza "the children and women must be separated and the adults in Gaza must be eliminated". Another explicit call for genocide. This time from the heart of the ruling party. How did the Prime Minister react to this call by the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset from his party? In the silence.
Benny Morris wrote an article a few weeks ago with an incomprehensible headline "With israel already deep in the loop leading to the annihilation of a nation, deep in the process of training the hearts." For several nights and days I found it difficult to recover from this article. He opened like this: israel is not committing genocide in Gaza... There is no genocidal policy of the government, there is no decision of the leaders to commit genocide, there is no intentional intention to exterminate the Palestinians, and there are no orders from the government to the army or the army chiefs to the ranks that operate to kill the Palestinians... But the genocide may be on the way. With israel maybe on the way there, already deep in the loop leading to the annihilation of a nation, deep in the process of training the hearts. ".
And then he describes the processes in society in Israel that can lead to a genocide of the Palestinians, and in the end also describes the scenario where this can happen "An inciting act would be - a raid or raids on settlements with multiple casualties, downing of an Israeli passenger plane... - And then the genocide will come, on the surface of cities from the air, without any distinction or attempt to distinguish between citizens and armed or in... "And more words that I simply can't quote from his article because they horrify me."
Benny Morris is one of the greatest experts on conflict and scenario-shaping that can lead to genocide. Have a read, link in the comments.
Flammable substances are here. Meron Report Meron Rapoport published an article today with the title "Israelis are no longer ashamed to demand extermination" (link in comments). He explains what leads to the conversation that reads and supports genocide. He claims, and in my opinion rightly, that the fact that Hamas is on its feet, the horrible cruelty of Hamas, the horrible and cruel rituals of abuse of bodies and kidnappers awakens the demons threats of supporting extermination.
He ends like this "although ethnic cleansing has become a method of operation... Until now he has failed. israel destroyed Gaza, but the Palestinians did not leave it; and the Palestinians who were forced to leave their homes in Jenin, Nur Shams or Tulkram, do not abandon the West Bank. The talk of extermination is primarily the result of anger and frustration, and not a plan of action. But the statements of Vatori, Brashi, Yefat Klein and many others prepare the mental ground for movements that until October 7 no one has dared to talk out loud about. And it's dangerous, very dangerous. "
And it's indeed very dangerous.
And Netanyahu is indifferent to the discussion of annihilation and thus normalizes it. Both this stain will be his legacy and we will never forgive him for that.
And in the face of the horrific process of normalizing calls for genocide, the Liberal Democratic camp must do an act that must begin immediately, but immediately, in the face of legitimizing and total boycott of genocide callers. At the minimum of the minimum all members of the Knesset of the opposition, and also those of the coalition that have any human or Jewish value left, must leave the hall when the Member of Parliament and actors conduct meetings or speaker, and not agree to participate in any event that one of the so-called genocide participates in. The boycott and total legitimacy of those who want Israel to follow the path of the nazis.
We should also hope that the judicial systems in the countries of the world will stop an investigation and prosecute everyone who calls for genocide. It's best that they start with a member of parliament and Atori.
But they cannot and must not be trusted. We are still in the midst of a terrible disaster and mutual slaughtering of us and the Palestinians. Everything must be done to get out of this disaster, that the life-hating and death-loving leaders on the Israeli and Palestinian side have led us to.
And we also have a moral duty. We swore never again. In the greatest nightmares of our historical consciousness we did not realize that in society in Israel and under the sponsorship of the ruling party the calling for genocide will normalize.,,
If this is as you have posted, I am appalled, and utterly lost for words.
Up till now I have supported Israel’s right to defend its citizens and to attack those who wish to destroy or harm them.
''The deputy speaker also said the city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank will soon turn into Gaza as Israel is ramping up its assault there. He said Palestinians being freed from Israeli jails as part of the Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal should be put in Jenin so they could be “eliminated” later on.
“Erase Jenin. Don’t start looking for the terrorists – if there’s a terrorist in the house, take him down, tell the women and children to get out,” Vaturi said.
Last year, Vaturi claimed there were “no innocents” in Gaza and called for the entire place to be “burned down” so Israeli soldiers wouldn’t get hurt.
“What does it mean to burn? To go in and rip them apart. There should be no thoughts, no considerations. The soldiers of the IDF should not think for one second and be hurt because we need to be humane,” Vaturi said.
Actually in Government sitting, as Deputy Speaker.
Well Claremont it’s badly translated but I get the drift.
There are a few in the Knesset who are really hardline and as extreme in their views after what happened Oct 7th as their enemies are. That doesn’t mean for one moment that there are plans to carry out similar actions, just that they allow and understand that a few feel that way and they want to speak out.
Calm logic will prevail.
Utterly indefensible. Not quite 80 years after the end of WWII. Just over 80 years since the liberation of the concentration camps.
It just shows that history teaches us nothing. I despair.
Oreo I hope you are correct, as Claremonts posts have chilled me to the bone.
You can despair if it happened as an action ( as opposed to words said in anger) but it won’t.
This is the ultimate form of racism.
Israel has lost its way.
Although if you had been paying attention over the past years and months, none of it should come as a surprise.
It is so sad. In the past I have been a very strong supporter of the idea that Jews need a separate state, but I no longer am. They have forfeited that by Israel’s behaviour.
Claremont looks for the worst in the Knesset and not the best
GG13 and constantly posts it.
If that had really been their policy then Gaza would have been carpet bombed well over a year ago.
Of course calm logic and humanity will prevail but people must understand that Israel is surrounded by implacable enemies and only entered this Gazan conflict after the massacre in Israel of innocents.

Unfortunately Israel’s actions are already proving the OPs point.
There is no calm logic in West Bank or Gaza.

It hasn’t lost its way at all, it’s considering how best to bring this conflict with hamas and its very many supporters to an end.
It allows free speech in the Knesset but that doesn’t mean any speech translates into action or that the majority agree with them.
Now we have posters saying that Jews shouldn’t have their own separate state, so job done * Claremont* but what you get out of it I can’t imagine.
It is significant that Netanyahu doesnt speak against it.
I've found 2 interesting articles in Haaretz.
The first points out
" No, All Palestinians Don't Back Hamas' Depravity. And All Israelis Don't Back Ben-Gvir's Bloodthirsty Vengeance
When Hamas releasing the bodies of four Israeli hostages – a grandfather, a mother and her two young children – is greeted with calls by Israeli far-right politicians to 'wipe out, punish and destroy', it is necessary to remember that neither Palestinians nor Israelis have a monopoly over depravity, or decency"

The second does back up the claims there are substantial numbers of Jewish people condemning Trump Gaza plan
"No to Ethnic Cleansing' | Hundreds of U.S. Rabbis, Jewish Celebrities Condemn Trump Gaza Plan in NYT Ad
Signatories of the ad include rabbis from Conservative, Orthodox, Reform, Reconstructionist, Renewal movements working in congregations, campuses, hospitals, rabbinical seminaries, and community organizations in the U.S. and Israel
NEW YORK – Over 350 rabbis, along with Jewish artists, writers, and activists, have signed a New York Times ad denouncing Donald Trump's proposal to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza and have the U.S. own it for "a Real Estate Development for the Future

No Oreo, I cannot tell you how completely I disagree with you. You are beginning to sound like an apologist for the current israeli government and the worst elements of the Knesset
By not responding to these appalling statements Netanyahu is implicitly endorsing them. What is being advocated here, without irony, by a Jewish man, is to do to Gaza what the Germans did to Europe's jewish population.
Let us suppose that a leader of one of the small parties in the British Parliament. let us say a member of the Green pary, or Reform, or DUP or Plaid Cymru were to stand up in Parliament and make a similar type of speech about some ethnic group. in Britain. Say Asians in Southall, saying they shoula all be destroyed, men women and children, that earth should be wiped clean of them.
Do you think that our Prime Minsiter would remain silent, would any member of Parliament remain silent faced with such an incitement to violence.
Netanyahu remained silent because these are the people he relies on for his support, which tells you how far from their early high ideals the Israelis have fallen
Where can I read of these statements please ?
Israelis voted for their government, Palestinians voted for
Hamas
So are you saying that all Israeli's agree with the atrocities in Gazza and that all Palestinians support what happened on October 11th Annie?
I ignore statements from ‘a Jewish Israeli’ been so many posted.
I can’t forget the post where a grieving Israeli mothef was called miserable, when I questioned this Claremont replied
‘ it was badly translated ‘

No, but I posted facts,

We know that's how they voted Annie but we also know, or should know, that you don't always get what you voted for.
