The contentious issue that I feel is not answered, is should it be right for Israel to slowly advance and take over chunks of the West Bank - surely this is "Action" not kept in check?
I was answering this post above.
Ramy Abdul oJuc Goly Breaking: Statements by the Deputy Speaker of the Israeli Knesset: "*Palestinians in Gaza are outcasts, and no one in the world wants them. Women and children should be separated, and adults should be eliminated*."

That action, in creeping building work in the WestBank by Israeli settlers isn’t being checked in my view as it acts as a buffer zone.It isn’t right to be building houses there ( and it’s the last place I’d want to live).
Thank you for your honesty in this - ie it isn't right to be building houses there.
If you look at at maps, it's gone well, well beyond a buffer zone, and settlements are protected by tanks now.
I tried to look into this further.
In May 2023 the Jersusalem Post reported that the West Bank had just over half a million Israeli residents and the local mayor reported follows:
"“Shlomo Neeman, mayor of the Gush Etzion Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, said: “The region is flourishing and thriving with 150 communities, among which are four cities, a magnificent university, tourist centers, and high tech industries. Real estate developers are increasingly investing in and developing the region, attesting to the high demand”
"Neeman continued: "Unfortunately, even after 25 years, and with more than half a million residents, we are prisoners of a military administration whose actions do not correspond with the reality on the ground. We will continue to work with the present governments with the aim of adapting to the changes and maintaining the momentum of construction, and the development of roads and infrastructure in the area for our dear residents and for all of Israel.”
I presume the mayor meant local West Bank authorities weren't accepting settlement as they would like?
However, the situation has turned to one of Israel now actively sending troops in and clearing out Refugee camps on the West Bank and imposing Israeli Law. Its recorded in this full BBC report from yesterday
"“It'll be a disaster': Uncertainty for thousands forced from West Bank camps by Israeli raids”.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g039ergplo
Meanwhile Ganz and other people in the government are supporting the complete taking over of the West Bank as part of Israel quite openly.
(btw, the BBC article has a very good map and I know this is not strictly on topic but whoever drew up the boundaries for Israel and Palestine were setting a course for disaster from the outset!)
The BBC last week released the video ‘Gaza how to survive
A war zone’, then had to withdraw it, can it be trusted !
Yes, this is completely different Annie - that was a feature article they wrongly bought from another company.
This is a news item - press all have had full access to all the events/photos
and there are full quotes from both Palestinians and the IDF themselves a representation of different POV. The IDF describe it themselves.
We cannot any longer deny that West Bank settlement of Palestinian land is both significant and provocative.
Thank you Wyllow
I wasn't going to print it out in full unless someone has no access to looking it up as its long and comprehensive

And the Jews experienced the Holocaust! How can they do the same to others ?
You think they should have learned a lesson ? There is no Holocaust, where are the gas chambers ? The Jews were not
raping, killing, they are defending against terrorists
I am shocked that anyone can compare, simply a case of denial
Good grief, experienced the Holocaust
Wyllow pass, I did open your link, first up ? a woman and two
children fleeing, so BBC
I'm not making allusions to the past:
I am describing the gradual state sanctioned occupation of the West Bank, now backed up by the military:
I fear more war, deaths, as people start to strike back:
I am concerned, for I think it very wrong, that Israel should extend its borders all the way to Jordan, and threaten the way of life of millions of Palestinians who did not attack Israel before the settlements started.
I've alway defended the right if Israel to have a state that is a haven, but not to attack and expand.
Anniebach Justa thought; what would you do, feel, if a line was drawn down through Wales, say Llandudno to Port Talbot, and all the Welsh had to move west of that line. The rest of your land being occupied by the English. Would you be happy, or would you fight for what had been yours for centuries ?

What has this to do with you stating ‘ the Jews experienced the

Annie, Hell can take many forms. Being blown up, burnt alive by bombs, is not the same, but is it 'better', less cruel and diabolical.
And yes, there are 1000s of reports of rape and about 40.000 killed, and so many more maimed. Palestinians have been defending themselves against 'terrorists' for a very very long time.
No-one, not a singe person here, has ever denied the diabolical treatment of Jews during the Holocaust. But you continue, totally blindly, to acknowledge the injustice done to the Palestinians who lost their home and country in 1948, and had more and more land, settled illegally and with very violent means, with the protection of the IDF, ever since.
Shot in the back burnt and yes, rape used as a form of humiliation and submission, houses and land bulldozed and burnt- for over 65 years, several generation- and you wonder why they want to fight to keep what is left.
Total one-sided denial. Blind to the pain of others, their pain and dead, children, babies- somehow worth less than others. With words like vermin, rascals, subhuman and terrorists (all of them, not 'just' Hamas) just like in 1930s Germany.
Do you ever read what Hamas and Palestinians say about Jews ? Do you know any history of Jews post WWII? Are you aware that there are Jewish people in the West being attacked, vilified, abused? Has your grandson come home from school with spittle down the back of his blazer?
You're clueless
I know you don't believe I have Jewish friends from Israel who communicate their real opposition to Netanyahu and what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank. And that you won't even bother to read anything they pass on to me.
Here is that friend (her MT is Hebrew and not English) saying how she feels about Jewish pain and suffering being 'worth' so much more than Palestinian pain and suffering
Her words (her DH is also Israeli Jew, and an expert if Jewish studies and history)
''I'm **ing sick of this one-sided ethnocentric pain.
There is no room for anyone else's pain and suffering.
Our pain erases all other pain.
As if the seventh of October, even if ten thousand bad people participated, completely annulls the right to exist, but, heartache, heartbreak, loss, orphans, mourning, of two million people.
As if the existence of Hamas and the horrible atrocities it consistently commits, completely misguided the suffering of the occupied territories and the problems of the Palestinian residents of israel''
1948, Jews given their own country, coverage of the Holocaust
rampant in the media and news reels in the cinema, then
6 countries declared war on those Jews, many had fled there to a place of safety after centuries of persecution
Have you seen the maps of the land given, and the illegal expansion ever since. Expanding, more and more, and in the most cruel of ways, made the acceptance of the Nakba much much worse. This was never supposed to happen, and the West should have put a very firm stop to it. But it was in their interest, so they didn't.
This post is about the Deputy Speaker of the Israeli Governement, in their 'House' - officially calling for men to be separated from women and children (to go where?) and all killed without hesitation and mercilessly. In Gaza and in West Bank. All of them.
How can anyone excuse this? Just anyone.
Worst is, no-one in Goverment stopped him, he was allowed to continue, without being reprimanded and asked to leave. They listened, in silence, and therefore approved tacitly.
17.400 Palestinian children have been killed during this short war. The 'official' number- probably a lot more in reality. Babies and young children are now dying of starvation, disease and cold.
The number of deaths are given by Hamas . If babies are dying
of starvation how come the crowds mocking the release of hostages are so healthy.
If Hamas declared rain was wet I would want it confirmed and I
live in Wales
And who would confirm it?
Israel totally forbids any foreing journalists there.
Spittle on their back is not nice, for sure. Bomb on your head, no food or health care, no clothes or heating- now there is no comparison.
Yes, the ones you see at the top guys, they are a very small number compared to the rest of the population, the mothers and children, the elderly. Who would show them to you? As no-one is allowed to be witness. And when you are told, you totally deny.
Anniebach

There is no comparison.
I don’t like Netunyahu, I don’t think he has his citizens best interests at heart.
Cossy You don’t like Netanyahu? No surprise given the accusations made against him, I don’t like or dislike,
some do compare the Holocaust with the Gaza wars , why the question’ Why are the Jews doing the same to those in Gaza
knowing what happened in the Holocaust’ ?
