And also eases sanctions on Russia.

Well, if that doesn't prove the Man-Baby isn't in the pay of Putin then nothing will.

According to the FT, there is a surge of Americans applying for British citizenship😊

Definitely.

Richard Gere, his wife and 2 children live in The Madrid Capital of Spain.

Oprah Winfrey is relocating to Italy.

Robert DeNiro and Bruce Springstein are relocating to Canada.

Amongst numerous others that can afford to move overseas.

It is a true horror story for those who cannot afford to move overseas.

I agree GrannyGravy13. It was bound to happen. It’s bully boy tactics. I think domestic issues will now consume Trump, he certainly isn’t in a comfortable position.

I do hope you are right, and certainly I think Trump will find some very serious problems to deal with in the US, but I am dreadfully afraid it will not stop him trying to do all the things he talked about in his speech - take over Panama, tax European imports to the US, force a peace deal through, unless we stop him, that will make Ukraine vulnerable to Russia, and probably quite a number of other countries as well.

All this grandstanding takes the focus away from the domestic problems America has at the moment. Many still support him, they must think that agression and bullying means strength.
It does not.

Americans should be relieved that at last a president has looked for a cessation of hostilities and loss of life. It’s perfectly moral to ask Z to stop the slaughter and discuss a peace plan. For Starmer and Macron to pretend that Ukraine can win is grossly irresponsible and foolish. Get over it. Ukraine lost

Maybe you may prefer to live in Russia and plaster your views over there? Or maybe join those extremists in the USA who think Trump is an honourable, moral and truthful man.
Thankfully the UK is showing moral leadership to stand up to bullies and Fascists like Trump and Putin.

Haaretz.com are reporting that the Trump administration is having direct talks with Hamas regarding the release of the remaining American hostages along with a broader deal to end the war.

Nothing is clearer than the fact the Trump has modelled his behaviour on Hitler. He’s amassed a private army of thugs when he had them storm the seat of American democracy then ‘pardoned’ them after their assaults on the police! He has stirred up hatred of ‘foreigners’ migrants and anybody who speaks against him. He has terrorised people by threatening their livelihoods and taking their jobs. He has threatened to seize the land belonging to others (Greenland, Gaza, Canada) and has spread lies and set up a Dictatorship posing as a democracy. He has unelected people steering the direction of the country.
The US is no friend of Ukraine and no friend of Europe.
Trump has one god - money. He will do anything that boosts his own bank balance, lining his pockets while claiming to ‘make America great’.
Never has the US been less great than it is now.

Trump has told Starmer that he can’t authorise access to all encrypted data on Apple devices. Trump said no you just can’t do that. Thank you Mr President.

Wyllow3 Wed 05-Mar-25 21:46:59

Old news, Ronib, old news. ....and inaccurate. discussed here on GN some time ago.

It was Apple itself that refused to release access to its specified and expensive very high data service (different from normal encryption levels)

His god is power I'd say (including money of course). rule by fear.

Latest update is that Apple has lodged an appeal against the government. It’s ongoing and why would Starmer do this? Wyllow3. Just because Gransnet has discussed it hasn’t put it to bed … thankfully.

Is inviting Trump to meet with the king followed later by a State visit is standing up to him. Especially as that same king is Canada's Head of State. More like desperate leadership

After his deal with Putin, Trump had to manufacture a reason to "pause" his support of Ukraine and so he started that public spat in the Oval Office. Trump is no humanitarian and anyone trying to put that spin on his actions is deluded.

Exactly. That was obvious when that row was staged. From the start with the concern about him not wearing a suit and being disrespectful. Could definitely have said that about Musk. If there was any disrespect it was from Trump, firstly by keeping Kalensky out of the discussions about his country and then the shameful carry on in the Oval Office intended to belittle him and shout him down.

Grandmabatty Thu 06-Mar-25 08:36:20

Ahem, Zelensky. Although I agree with your point

Oreo Thu 06-Mar-25 08:55:57

I’ve never read so many spellings of Zelensky’s name as on this forum, or rather the wrong spellings. It’s not that hard!

Oreo Thu 06-Mar-25 08:58:38

So far have read Zilinski, Zelenski, Zalenski and Zalinski ( not just this thread but on all other threads.)

Casdon Thu 06-Mar-25 08:59:44

It’s not that simple Oreo

It's actually Zelenskyy!

Oreo Thu 06-Mar-25 09:03:35

Shall we stick to the spelling that’s actually used by the media/politicians all over the world? Zelensky.
There is no Zilinski Zelanski or others that I mention.

foxie48 Thu 06-Mar-25 09:03:36

Зеленський is very difficult to type and we all know who is meant, surely?

Oreo Thu 06-Mar-25 09:04:52

If anyone wants to put the extra y on the end, fair enough but all the other variations are getting out of hand.😄

Oreo Thu 06-Mar-25 09:06:00

Why not in that case, have President Trummp, Drumft, Tumpp and so on?

Rula Thu 06-Mar-25 09:08:36

Oreo

Indeed!

This is how his name reads on his X.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський

And while I'm here, X is a ridiculous name for Twitter. What Elon was thinking I'll never know

Casdon Thu 06-Mar-25 09:09:36

Because Trump’s name uses our alphabet, it’s unequivocally Trump. I agree with Rula, translated it should be Zelenskyy.

Oreo Thu 06-Mar-25 09:16:44

In that case will posters manage to stop all other outlandish spellings I wonder?A small point in the order of things now happening in the world but easy enough to get right as his name is in the papers and on tv constantly.

Oreo Thu 06-Mar-25 09:18:14

Rula Elon Musk’s son is known as X ( a shortened version of his name) so guess that’s why he renamed Twitter.
