- without warning, in the middle of the night- in the middle of Ramadan.

NOTHING.

Meanwhile in the West Bank

The Palestinian Wafa news agency and other local media have reported on several incidents involving the Israeli military and settlers in the occupied West Bank overnight and this morning, including:

Three Palestinian were injured – two suffering bullet wounds and a third beaten up – when Israeli forces stormed Dura town, south of Hebron.
Troops set fire to several Palestinian homes in the Jenin refugee camp, an attack which Wafa said was carried out on the 57th day of Israel’s incursion into the camp, and where at least 34 people have been killed, dozens injured and civilian infrastructure and homes destroyed.
Israeli forces carried out a raid in the vicinity of the Askar refugee camp, east of Nablus.
Tear gas and sound bombs were used against worshippers in the village of Jouret al-Sham’a, south of Bethlehem, after they finished evening and Ramadan prayers.
Israeli troops stormed the town of Sebastia, northwest of Nablus city, where they searched a commercial premises.
Israeli settlers raided the Palestinian Khallet al-Nahla area, south of Bethlehem.
Israeli forces destroyed residential and agricultural structures in the Bedouin community in Arab al-Melahat village, northwest of Jericho.
Israeli settlers vandalised agricultural crops and released livestock in a village in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron.

This is murder, repulsive. Israel is not a God fearing country, how anyone can support them is beyond me. Watching those vulnerable people, little children as sitting targets last night broke my heart.
The way Trump has those men being deported is sickening, I know many are gang leaders, being treated like dirt, shaving their heads, dehumanising and shackling them, says more about Trump, he gies on about his dear mother, I would disown him.. Is this what America wants! Put Trump and Putin on a boat to nowhere.
I will never buy anything from Israel or America again, certainly won’t be visiting,
Shame on them, hope they reap what they sow. Soon.

Fighting any enemy regardless is not like this. Fighting against terrorism is not like this. We can no longer ignore what is going on because we feel that genocide is somehow acceptable under certain circumstances. That makes us complicit.
At various points along the way we tried to justify this, ‘ok so is 20,000 dead, half of them children, but it is Hamas’, then ‘ok it is 30,000 dead half of them children but it is Hamas’, ‘ok so is 50,000 dead half of them are starving children but it is Hamas.’
Then there is a ceasefire and a chance for peace but because Hamas simply question the truce, perhaps bloody mindedly who knows, but even so, they just want to move onto the next stage of the truce, Netanyahu decides to murder more innocents, over 400, some say as many as 600, but let’s say over 400. Which makes Netanyahus murderous intent clear for us all to see.
Tbh am not replying to those who will attempt to make this about anything other than genocide out of respect for those murdered, and for the Israeli families who will now not be reunited with their loved ones.
One statement from a mother who had just lost her husband and children was as galling as it was heartbreaking, she said that her children had died hungry.
The children and babies are starving as well as being murdered.

Why didn't Hamas release all the hostages?

Why didn't Hamas release all the hostages?

Because there’s every possibility they are dead😥

ronib Wed 19-Mar-25 07:53:22

Dead bodies can be released?

Anniebach Wed 19-Mar-25 07:53:27

‘ watching those vulnerable people, little children ‘ , all videos
all claims of numbers killed are from Hamas, the many allegations from doctors we have read, Hamas runs the hospitals,.

escaped Wed 19-Mar-25 07:54:46

IF ONLY the hostages had all been released in a timely nanner, and without all that appalling behaviour, people -including myself- would now be condemning Netanyahu to hell.
The bombing in Gaza is very sad.

Petra Yes I knew that. It was to make all the people excusing Hamas to think!

Why didn't Hamas release all the hostages?

In hostage release negotiations those questions don’t tend to be asked of the captors, the emphasis is upon safely securing the release of your nationals which is an extremely delicate and dangerous process. Obviously dropping bombs on the captors when a truce has simply been questioned hasn’t helped.
However, I imagine your question was disingenuous.

Babs03 - Dreadful!

Anniebach Wed 19-Mar-25 08:01:42

The parading of the released hostages was vile, the cheering from the Palestinians was acceptable, the Palestinians who we were told were malnourished ?

I haven't seen anyone excusing Hamas

Not sure where you got this idea!

RosieandherMaw Wed 19-Mar-25 08:23:19

What Hamas did 18 months ago was inexcusable and I never understood their rationale. It just ignited the remorseless powder keg that is Israel.
The revenge Israel is wreaking is of Biblical proportions and however much we feel for the descendants of those who survived the Holocaust I cannot bring myself to find any excuse.
I am not pro Palestinian or anti-Semitic but this is simply and terribly wrong.

Anniebach Wed 19-Mar-25 08:28:22

I do not think of the Holocaust as an excuse

AGAA4 Wed 19-Mar-25 08:33:33

Netanyahu calls strikes on Gaza only the beginning
Nobody excuses Hamas but I can't excuse Israel either.
It's clear to me that Netanyahu wants to kill all Palestinians to clear the land for Israelis.

Anniebach Wed 19-Mar-25 08:49:36

It’s clear to me Israel wants to clear the land of Terrorists , should they wait for more repeats of October 2023 ?

So babies and children are terrorists? Or just collateral damage?

lixy Wed 19-Mar-25 08:57:22

Anniebach

lixy I do understand, I truly believe the horrors of the October atrocities were the final acts of hatred of Jews by Muslims, I wish it wasn’t so but antisemitism is and always has been at the root of the persecution of Jews.

A poster has referred to the increase of antisemitism across the world, there has been no attacks caused by the war on Ukraine,
a police officer in England spoken of a Jew as being ‘openly Jewish’ this was last year .

Anniebach I meet friends and family off the flights from Tel Aviv at Luton airport. There is usually someone loitering and shouting abuse at the passengers as they come through the arrivals gate. It is a dreadful ‘welcome’ to the UK. Sometimes security staff move the abusers on, but they are always there next time. So yes, though I am not Jewish I do understand a little about antisemitism.

I feel stunned, saddened, and furious for the poor bloody babies and children now seen covered in blood and grime shivering with one limb missing, whilst parents weep with despair, if the parents are still alive that is, has almost become normalised, business as usual in Gaza. Between 400 and 600 killed, is a massacre by any standards and just for an issue with the truce that only needed more dialogue to iron out.
And of course my heart goes out to the families of hostages surely expecting more to be released soon. They will certainly not feel that this action by Netanyahu was necessary and such intense bombing increases the chances of the hostages being hit or buried alive.

I too feel this way and it’s so so tragic and unnecessary.

I blame Hamas and Netanyahu - neither are thinking of their people, neither care about the appalling loss of life of innocents, there are innocents on both sides.

Anniebach Wed 19-Mar-25 09:04:56

Hamas attacked Israel, Netanyahu is defending Isreal from further attacks

Petra Yes I knew that. It was to make all the people excusing Hamas to think!

It could all stop today if hamas released any hostages that are still alive and the bodies of those they have murdered and what’s left of hamas agreed to step down and melt away into the general population.
They know they will never be allowed to continue on in a position of power in Gaza, they’re finished as a political arm of hamas and all they can now ever be is what they really are, a terrorist organisation.
The bombing now is tragic but not done for malicious reasons as suggested by a poster above but to get hamas to realise they must hand over hostages with no more messing about.
