I think this is very relevant and necessary for the future opposition. It's not the first time post an election a Party has had to reconsider its roots and its path ahead, as in the UK the Labour Party did post our 2019 election imaround.

Trumps policies are a warning to us in terms of what can happen if a far right party gains power - however we have a stronger independent judiciary.

No matter what the people who agree with him think, he is a criminal, a liar a bankrupt several times, a misogynist a d he dorsnt even know the history of his own country. What he's doing will have a devastating effect on a little of people inside and outside the USA. It never does any good to make do many enemies.

As for that wretched term 'far right' - anyone would think a goodly proportion of our country was akin to Ghengis Khan. Time we stopped labelling, stopped believing (often what we want to believe) and started trying to understand

It is very ,very hard to get the ‘facts’ from any of our media. We/they are just as biased as anyone else, including the Chinese. They only tell us what the government and those in power behind the scenes want. In the West we hear one thing, in the Middle East, Asia and Africa a different point of view is followed. We think we are superior and perhaps more evolved than others but I seriously doubt this . Just a wide reading from different regimes gives a bit of a clue. However, people hand out labels to all those who don’t agree with their own personal beliefs . I suppose the world has always been this way, nothing changes.

Not that I go on there as often, nowadays.
I wanted to know how the rest of the world was thinking. Normal people's viewpoints.

I actaully ended up thinking that the media were not that far out. On the whole. If reading with discernment.
And ignoring alarmist headlines.
And certain journalists. Even from chosen newspapers and sites.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Do you read The conversation nanna8? I find that, which is an Australian organisation, often has good investigations into the way media portrays situations, it unpicks lies and myths.

Please don't use X for information. It has become a gathering place for neo-nazis. In fact, Musks own AI fact checker often corrects the claims he himself makes. Advertisers stopped spending money there because it got so bad. And instead of stopping the behavior, Musk sued to try and het the courts to force advertisers back.

At the very least, I suggest also joining Bluesky to get a balanced look at both sides of what is going on.

Personally I don’t have or look at ‘X’ , not my sort of social media anymore than Twitter was in the past.

I like X, it gives a view outside the middle class nonsense that is often considered important. My feed is full of feminists not nazis. The fact that the community notes system corrects claims is a good thing.

If you confine yourself to your own echo chamber X is fine.

I don't think X is an echo chamber, I have feminists, right wing, left wing, etc on my feed. I have in my time followed Owen Jones and Jordan Peterson. Both of whom the feminists hate . Obviously you can make it an echo chamber if you wish, but that is true of any site.

After researching both for bias, think I'll give both a big miss.
