Well, he’s threatened to, if agreements cant be reached. Whether that is a clear intention or a gambit remains to be seen.
It would presumably mean both ending military aid but also giving up all the tortuous negotiations and demands on mineral rights?
At he moment we have an “easter Truce” ending tonight, although Zelensky has said there have been breaches.
There are a lot of conversations including European leaders going on behind closed doors
From BBC timeline
“We're not privy to all the conversations taking place behind closed doors.
What we do know is that President Donald Trump was growing impatient at the lack of progress on a Ukraine peace deal. He’d been keen for some kind of truce to be announced.
Let's see what happens when Putin's "Easter truce" expires at midnight local time tonight.
Whether there will be continued efforts from all parties to continue the conversation and push towards a wider agreement.
The major sticking point remains: how and on what terms to end the war in Ukraine.
Up until now Vladimir Putin has shown little sign of being willing to compromise. His demands haven't changed - as far as we can tell - since his so-called peace proposal of June last year.
Under that, Russia would keep all the Ukrainian regions it has occupied, while territory still under Ukrainian control in those regions would be handed to Moscow
(Zelensky can never agree to that!)
“So, we need to wait, follow events to see whether this small step Putin has taken leads to anything more substantial.”

Will Trump pull out of Ukraine?
(82 Posts)Of course if Trump does pull out it creates really difficult issues for what would be a new NATO and a "coalition of the willing".
Just be wary as Trump threatens all and sundry everyday . His Easter message was appalling . I will not post that as it is so childish and disgusting . He is not a world leader in any respect just a trouble maker .
Trumps eye seems to be focused on Iran now rather than Ukraine.
Trump is pro capitalism, and like the Panama canal, the Suez canal is a prize he is keen to get his hands on. Trade is his mantra and he wants control of the goods which cross international borders...to 'make America great again.'
I am disgusted at Trumps treatment of President Zelenskyy, and his weakness toward the dictator Putin.
Europe needs to step up and be pro active and stop Putin now.
If there’s nothing in it for him personally he will pull out of Ukraine. I think he still thinks the US is the most powerful nation in the world and can do and say anything it wants , or rather, he wants. Meanwhile other countries are moving in.
A flavour of Trump's Easter message from LBC
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social on Easter Sunday, the president accused the left of bringing "Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, the Mentally Insane, and well known MS- 13 Gang Members and Wife Beaters, back into our Country".
The online rant, published shortly before 8am local time on Sunday, saw Trump accuse US judges and law enforcement of "allowing" what he called a "sinister attack on our Nation".
Honing in on his predecessor "Sleepy Joe Biden", Trump hailed him the "WORST and most Incompetent President, a man who had absolutely no idea what he was doing".
It comes days after Donald Trump declared that any party refusing to move forward with Ukraine-Russia peace talks are "fools" and "horrible people
He really is evil. 😡😡 (After reading that, I recommend you go to the Trump thread and watch Senator Raphael Wornock' (pastor)'s U tube talk about strength and hope in the face of this onslaught

Trump thought he understood Putin. He does not understand Zelensky because he can't be bought. Putin has just taken Trump for a ride and now he has to save face by looking for something else to meddle in.
He'll soon run out of options and have to face the wrath of the American people who will eventually realise that they've been duped too.
The Trump Easter message is worse if you read the full version.
He will withdraw from his failure to do a deal to end the war but spin it in a way that saves him from losing face.
I am off to follow your recommended link now.
Putin seems to be open to dialogue with Zelenski. A bit of hope perhaps.
I do hope so Grantanow. People have been working so hard over the weekend.
Here is the BBC I Player news on developments in the Ukraine.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpq7ywvw1lzo
too complicated to summarise despite my usual verbosity!
Trump has certainly given the impression that he would tire of trying to broker a deal if either side won’t properly engage in talks.
He’s not a man known for his patience is he?!
With hindsight (which is easy) NATO got it badly wrong with Ukraine we should have backed them fully from the start, when Russia was weak, now it’s too late. Trump has also got it wrong, trusting Putin to cooperate when he should have been pressuring him.
I’m very uncertain that Europe will produce an effective deterrent without the US and I’m hoping they won’t have to.
I think Trump has made himself look incompetent and weak by his involvement so far, after all his promises to resolve the war in a few days. So much for his diplomatic skills.
He has the attention span of a toddler. He wants it all, and he wants it now.
Long drawn out diplomacy is impossible for him to understand.

You are spot on
Trump is a nasty bit of work! I think the only way he will now support Ukraine is if Putin does something bad to HIM! He doesn’t really care about all the killed and murdered people despite mouthing sympathy. And that is unlikely to happen as Putin knows how to flatter the narcissist! Putin, via Witkoff , recently sent him a painting of him in that ‘fight’ pose after he had just dodged the bullet! Trump will have loved that! There is also talk that Putin “ has something on him” from visits to Moscow years ago. This may or may not be true, but if his sexual behaviour in the US is any indication, it’s a possibility?
He is also as someone else said a Deal Maker not a Politician. He wants land and property and minerals, etc …look at his plans for Gaza, etc. The ‘deal’ he wants Ukraine to sign giving Him and the US rights over Ukraines minerals etc, with little or no security guarantees was referred to as The Rape of Ukraine!
Nothing for them, everything for Trump. Just what he always wants! He has no empathy, never apologises, is a disgusting human being, let alone a President! So unless Putin does something heinous to TRUMP, killing thousands of innocents won’t move him, breaking treaties won’t harm him in Trumps eyes, or Zelensky signs Ukraine away to Trump and Putin to carve up between themselves I think Trump will indeed pull out of Ukraine ! He cares for NO-ONE OTHER THAN HIMSELF! Certainly not the American people, he only ran for power, money, and to stop the possibility of his being jailed, and even less for any other ‘foreign’ people. Particularly if they are black or brown! NASTY MAN!
Looms like Trump has sent his "final offer" to Ukraine.
What Russia gets under Trump's proposal
"De jure" U.S. recognition of Russian control in Crimea.
"De-facto recognition" of the Russia's occupation of nearly all of Luhansk oblast and the occupied portions of Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
A promise that Ukraine will not become a member of NATO. The text notes that Ukraine could become part of the European Union.
The lifting of sanctions imposed since 2014.
Enhanced economic cooperation with the U.S., particularly in the energy and industrial sectors.
I'm going to post this and be back with what Russia gets so I don't lose my post.
What Ukraine gets under Trump's proposal
"A robust security guarantee" involving an ad hoc group of European countries and potentially also like-minded non-European countries. The document is vague in terms of how this peacekeeping operation would function and does not mention any U.S. participation.
The return of the small part of Kharkiv oblast Russia has occupied.
Unimpeded passage of the Dnieper River, which runs along the front line in parts of southern Ukraine.
Compensation and assistance for rebuilding, though the document does not say where the funding will come from.
Other elements of the plan
The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant — the largest such facility in Europe — will be considered as Ukrainian territory but operated by the U.S., with electricity supplied to both Ukraine and Russia.
The document references the U.S.-Ukraine minerals deal, which Trump has said will be signed on Thursday.

I can't imagine Zelinksy will agree. And he shouldn't. I am not even sure why the US is even involved in negotiations any longer to be honest. Trump is so incompetent.
“I can't imagine Zelinksy will agree. And he shouldn't. I am not even sure why the US is even involved in negotiations any longer to be honest. Trump is so incompetent.”
Incompetent or not the facts are that Ukraine cannot continue fighting without the support of the US, that’s why the US is involved.
It's not good enough tho, is it? Losing large chunks of territory (beyond the Crimea, which probably would have to go in any negotiations), and US robbery of mineral resources - and huge amounts of power and control passing directly into US hands, amounting to what is effectively a direct US occupation. 😡
It does look like European countries are now going to have to make some very difficult decisions if Zelensky doesnt agree and turns to us all.

I suspect he may try this as well, which is why I asked why the US is still involved in negotiations.
I feel like Zelinsky will be asking the UK and EU for help before he agrees with what Trump is giving Putin.
War and diplomacy are tricky things. I am glad I am not the one having to make decisions about these things.
He does not understand Zelensky because he can't be bought.
Trump keeps saying "he hasnt got any cards".
He sees to see things through a certain perspective, and if others dont see it that same way and therefore play ball, he is baffled.
