I really like the way Carney has set up the King Charles visit in the context of seeing Trump next Tuesday. Setting up the links between UK/Europe when Trump wants a 51st State.
Carney is realistic about the meeting with Trump.
"The invitation to the monarch, who is Canada’s head of state, is a dramatic example of the country’s “elbows up” defiance of Trump’s repeated insults and annexation threats.
“On Monday, Canadians elected a new government to stand up to President Trump and to build a strong economy,” Carney said.
Carney said he expects “difficult, but constructive” conversations with Trump and senior administration officials next week, brushing back suggestions he might face an embarrassing dressing down similar to what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy faced in March".
Carney is also making tactful moves to include the conservative leader Carney said he would be opening talks on how to lift Trump’s various tariffs on Canada, but made clear the meeting is only a start to a negotiation of a larger economic and security agreement with the U.S.
“Do not expect white smoke out of that meeting,” said Carney.
Carney is making moves to bring Poilievre (Conservative leader) back into government who was ousted by a young rookie Liberal.
"Carney revealed he told Poilievre he will call a by-election once the Conservative Party finds a new riding for him to run in. Little more than an hour after Carney spoke, a report emerged that a Conservative elected in a safe Alberta riding would step down to make way for Poilievre".
Good moves to try and get a national not over partisan government.
