They had their worst general election result, and now the worst local election result.

Is the Conservative Party doomed?

The conservatives are not an entity at present and people have lost faith in Labour for not behaving as a we expect of a Labour government.
Reform is the party of desperation as people are tired of the two party system now.

That's very true David, but Reform would have to be in government to change the laws on statutory SEND provision.

No they would have to be part of a coalition with a majority

“When it comes to politics - I am not particularly 'misinformed' or even unintelligent, but I am woefully under informed - because I don't have the time to educate myself and read / learn, and - like many others - am guided by my own interpretation of what is 'right' morally and constitutionally.”

The do have the time to read the media especially social media, that is very biased towards whatever is sensational on that day. That is what influences them most.

... as do I! But that's not the kind of "reading" I had in mind.

My 17 year old grandson's hobby is politics - he keeps sending me links to tracts of stuff to read, both historical and current... I'm churning my way through it, and that's how I know, well, how little I really know.

I look back at people like Cameron, Sunak, May and at the time I wasn't too impressed.

They are fantastic in comparison to what has emerged.

You are not alone!

The conservatives haven't been a force in Scotland for a very long time, although there are pockets of support mainly in the north east or the borders. Reform are not making much headway here in actual seats or councils although it is interesting to see their gradual creep up the voting registers. I think they might struggle in Scotland with voting being proportional representation.

What is that graph actually showing Mt61, it doesn’t correlate to the end result seats fought for yesterday? Is it that some bright spark at one point in the results coming in just took out the word Labour and inserted Other?

On this podcast

Wyllow3 Sat 03-May-25 13:46:10

I'v checked out all the Sky News reports and short videos like this one, not to be found anywhere.

for example this is how Sky have presented all the results

news.sky.com/video/skys-ed-conway-breaks-down-the-2025-local-election-results-so-far-13360194

I suspect the origins, can you give a ref for the podcast?

Wyllow3 Sat 03-May-25 13:52:57

Ie I suspect a deliberate "set up" for the whole page, especially with the large prominent red arrow.

Silverbrooks Sat 03-May-25 14:04:19

The graphic is from Akaad Daily the output of right-wing YouTuber and political commentator former UKIP Carl Benjamin. A very nasty piece of work. Mate of Tommy Robinson.

I thought it was something like that Silverbrooks.

Here is the U tube video and the image is at 10.59 minutes.

It can only be seen on u tube.

Yes that’s it- just flicking through all the YouTube clips this morning- I’ve never heard of him before this morning. I prefer June Slater

Mt61 Sat 03-May-25 14:31:44

Oh do you think it’s made up Wyllow3?

Mt61 Sat 03-May-25 14:39:03

I don’t usually take things as gospel & that’s why I chose not to vote, usually vote Tory but they are finished as far as I can tell.

Wyllow3 Sat 03-May-25 15:36:17

Oh do you think it’s made up Wyllow3?

Yes. Look at the actual Sky news age numbers of presentation and graphs and they all have Labour in and then a separate section of "other" for the smallest parties.

They've tweaked altered a diagram to miss out the Labour bit. He's also tweaked the Sky logo.

It just makes me cross with some aspects of Social Media. No wonder people don't vote, it's difficult enough finding the ways around MSM. ..but deliberate falsifying...😡
