Should I Marry a Murderer - Netflix
I looked an article in the BBC news with almost complete disbelief.
There's a photo of Trump dressed as Cardinal and a suggestion that he'd like to be Pope .
I am a Catholic .
My family background is Welsh and they are Baptists .
I am C of E as my parents were and attend their church .
I am very much a free thinker and not nervous of challenging things in my church
My Vicar is a friend and also similar in her thoughts .
I find this photo deeply offensive and am appalled by it .
I hope that it's fake news .
They do though. Think about it a little deeper.
I am intelligent enough to see what you are doing. Thanks anyway.
He is a revolting human, his wife isa Roman Catholic,I doubt she was amused.
I am not catholic but Im C of E and a regular churchgoer and believe in God. I find this mocking in the extreme and highly offensive. However I am not surprised this man has not ethics or respect for anyone or anything except himself
However this came about, it is deeply offensive. I am not a Catholic but that is beside the point - how low can this monster get !!?
Fair point * M0nica *
I am looking forward to his photos of Trump as a Muslim Imam and a Jewish Rabbi, not to mention Archbishop of Canterbury, a Buddhist monk and the charismatic leader of one of those American churches where the leader is found, after a number of years, to have harvested a huge fortune from the churches members and to have seduced a series of young (over consent age) members of his congregation, while parading his own fidelity in marriage .

Oh just stop it. What a load of nonsense. A much loved faith leader dies , mourned by millions, respected by those without faith and this is deemed acceptable?
Charlie Hebdo and a balloon have nothing to do with it. Nothing.
Hear hear.
There is a world of difference between satirical cartoons about a religious leader who had been dead since 632 AD and a man who was buried a week ago, a man whom many had met, respected, and held in the highest esteem.
Nobody is offended by cartoons about Moses and the Ten Commandments or even the rather touching one of Pope Francis humbly creeping through the tradesmen’s entrance at the Pearly Gates , but to endorse a picture of himself as Pope at this time was Trump at his mot vainglorious and offensive,
Vainglorious - perfect word choice RosieandherMaw.

The dictionary explains the word Catholic as "a Greek word meaning 'universal' as used in the CofE creed, so she can be "universal" in her beliefs and stay within the Church of England teachings.
'Roman' catholics are members of the Roman Universal Church if you like. Some C of E churches actually characterise themselves as 'Anglo Catholic'. The C f E church I attended as a child was very 'high' and now it's website actually says that it is an 'Anglo Catholic' parish.
I am now agnostic, but as I actually volunteer at a former Roman Catholic seminary with a history of 16th & 17th C executions of its priests and am aware of the feelings of local Roman Catholics about its 'English martyrs' I find my former churches claim somewhat distasteful.
The Anglican Creed contains the words:
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
*that is, the true Christian church of all times and all places
The Anglican Creed contains the words:

And how many thousands of times have some of us said that?
What I fail to understand is how this happens. I think he is a madman, but I'm betting he has neither the knowledge or time to create an AI generated photo, and then post it to his website (or where-ever).
Who's actively going along with this, and why? There must be a social secretary who vets any public posts? What on earth...

The Apostles Creed, which our Catholic Church uses has the same words, precisely the same. Indeed, prayed thousands of times.
As a Roman Catholic I have to say there is some confusion about using the term Catholic, if in fact you are referring to being Anglican Catholic, which is not in full communion with the Roman Catholic church.
I find myself having to point this out more and more, especially when some people think they are attending Mass in an Anglican Church and thinking it's the same as a Roman Catholic Mass, which it isn't.
I think the Anglican church is a little disengenous about this a times- often on their web-sites which say they are Catholic churches and even give times for Mass and other devotions which mislead people into thinking they are Roman Catholic when they aren't.
I think this is becoming more of an issue when we have people who don't know the language very well, and also appreciate English history even less.
I suspect there are many people from eastern Europe for example or even further who think they attend a Roman Catholic church when they don't.
I would class myself as an agnostic, but this makes me really, really hope that there is a God.
I could not agree less. @keepingquiet
Those of the Anglo-Catholic (NOT "Anglican Catholic) persuasion are more than aware that their church is not the Roman Catholic Church despite the many similarities in the liturgy.
I also doubt very much if Eastern European worshippers suffer any confusion
The term "mass" is not the unique preserve of the Roman Catholic nor is the title "Father".
In the military the term "Padre" (Italian for Father) is universally accepted for chaplains of whatever denominstion.
I think you may underestimate some people.

Nobody was mocking Francis. He is mourned by many.
The position of Pope is ‘up for grabs’ to put it bluntly. Hence the meme.
You conflate the two.

Agreed.
I suspect people do know what they believe and why, whether Roman Catholic, Anglo Catholic, Eastern Orthodox Christian, or Anglican. I know precisely what I believe, if I was confused I'd ask.

He was mocking the office and given the Pope's recent death, by extension Pope Francis himself.
How would you - would we have reacted to a photocopied image of a Coronation in Westminster Abbey with Trump's head bearing the Imperial crown?
That was meant to be photoshopped but my mobile doesn't seem to recognise the word.

This.
Again (respectfully) Maw you miss the point of the joke (meme).
At present - until after the Conclave - there IS no successor. Hence the papal vestments are ‘empty8 and waiting to be ‘filled’. So your analogy regarding the Coronation in WA doesn’t hold water - as the successor is always ‘in place’.

Well said RosieandherMaw
The term has been used for at least two hundred years, probably to emphasise the difference between the Anglican Church and the growing Protestant non-Conformist movement.

I’m absolutely aware of the words of the Creed, having said it every Sunday for years. I also know about the claim of the Anglican church to be part if the Apostolic succession, by virtue of priests in the Henrican church having been ordained in the Roman Catholic church before seceding from papal authority in obedience to Henry VIII.
That this church then acquiesced to the murder of Roman Catholic priests over the next 100 years while claiming to be inheritors of the same divine authority I find quite distasteful. That’s all.
Several hundred years ago.
Just as Roman Catholics persecuted Huguenots and forced them from their homes to take refuge here.
I could go on but I'm sure people understand that crimes were and are committed in the name of religion the world over.
