The news came on and a child has died at the hands of parents, I switched off as I can’t listen to it or see their little faces. How can this happen? The parents should never be let out of prison in fact I wish they were just not here. . How can neighbours and extended family not know. I know we heed to know about it but nothing changes.

If it's the poor mite I was reading about, it was the grandparents who killed him.

Cold Thu 05-Jun-25 00:40:28

Is that the poor little boy who was killed by his grandparents? Just terrible.

Anniebach Thu 05-Jun-25 03:28:45

The little boy who was murdered by his grandparents, his
mother was living in the house with them and was also charged with murder

Any worse than the wholesale killing of children in Gaza? 3 years of being driven from place to place terrified and starved, then killed?

A doctor lost her husband and p of her 10 children in a bomb attack last week.

I am not sayingthat what haappened here is not appalling it is, but casual brutlaity towards children is part and parcel of most societies.

Another heartbreaking story .
I can't believe that his mother and grandparents are normal .
RIP Little one 🎈 🧸 🌼

Monica, cold and uncalled for. No one agrees with what happens to the people in Gaza, governments can’t stop it. Parents are not killing their children, the opposite.
We live in a Country where laws are in place to protect children and for their own parents and grandparents to do such a thing cannot you see the difference. Every child's life lost is a tragedy.

Anniebach Thu 05-Jun-25 07:19:52

Dear God, a child is brutally treated and then murdered by his
mother and grandparents is now classed casual brutality ? No,
he was unloved, starved, murdered by his own family.

Indeed. As horrific as the killing of children in conflict is, it's hardly the same as a child being neglected and killed by the very people who are supposed to love and protect them.

Is there a link ? I hadn’t heard of this in the news and googled itv but only came up with a little lad in 2021 so don’t expect it’s what you are commenting on

OldFrill Thu 05-Jun-25 08:03:58

The child's name is Ethan Ives Griffiths

All 3 should be locked away for life.

Georgesgran Thu 05-Jun-25 08:14:57

He was murdered in 2021 BB but those responsible have only just been brought to trial.

One of the most important jobs in the world. And no qualification needed.

Cossy Thu 05-Jun-25 09:49:44

Absolutely heartbreaking, I cannot even imagine any grandparents doing this and the mother standing by.

It’s all horrific. Poor little lamb.

I really really hope and pray that all three of them get imprisoned for a very very long time!

An appalling comment.

Anniebach Thu 05-Jun-25 11:07:16

I was shocked by ‘casual brutality” , sounds like a relaxing pastime

henetha Thu 05-Jun-25 11:14:42

It's appalling, and mystifying to most of us. It's impossible to comprehend the mindset of anyone who can treat children so brutally. Even the severest sentences don't seem enough for these evil people.
What's happening is Gaza is utterly brutal and criminal, but it's different. It's not family killing their own young.
Both are utterly beyond belief.

Kate1949 Thu 05-Jun-25 11:17:08

I was a victim of 'casual beut

Kate1949 Thu 05-Jun-25 11:18:27

'casual brutality'. It didn't feel very casual to me. What an appalling term.

Shinamae Thu 05-Jun-25 11:20:07

So many and these are just the tip of the iceberg. I reckon there’s a lot of abuse goes onto small children behind closed doors and we never get to hear about it. 🤨😞
Such a sweet little boy, still trying to smile amid such abuse totally heartbreaking…😓

henetha Thu 05-Jun-25 11:20:19

How dreadful,, Kate1949. So very sorry for your awful experience. flowers

An appalling comment.

An appalling comment, may be, but that does not take away from its veracity.

The kind of people of casually torture and murder small children in this country are no different to those overseas who choose to torture and kill children, whether within the family, or deciding to bomb or shoot innocent civilians many of them children.

It is a continuum from one to many.

eazybee Thu 05-Jun-25 11:47:04

It is not the same at all.
Soldiers do not choose to bomb or kill innocent civilians, and most countries go to great lengths to protect their civilians by providing shelter and keeping war operations away from places of civilian occupation when under attack.
