The West needs to cut off the head of the snake that is Iran.
IMO, Israel doesn't make a move until it gets the nod from the USA.

Israel attack on Iran
(638 Posts)This is a serious situation. Netanyahu has gone against advice from the US and has attacked Iran.
Iran will retaliate and Israel has closed down today waiting for the attack.
Although the US has distanced itself from this only warning Iran not to target US bases it's inevitable that they may get pulled into this war.

I disagree with all nuclear weapons. In the 70s and 80s, I was very active in trying to explain that nuclear proliferation would be a disaster, and the MAD was just a short term fix that would break down when one or two (or more) power hungry mad men got involved. And until smaller so called 'tactical' nuclear weapons were created, as for now- which give the massively dangerous illusion that a limited, targetted, nuclear attack is survivable.
Attacking Iran is a diabolical act of aggression from Israel that puts the whole world at risk, and Israel and its inhabitants, as well as Palestine and the whole Middle-East, at massive risk. The whole world indeed. There is NO EXCUSE for this attack- the consequences of which could be diabolically dire.
Israel attacked first, with the first bombs. The rest ?????
There’s every excuse to stop Iran acquiring nuclear weapons.

Don't be ridiculous ronib, don't think anyone on here just now wants a nuclear war.
Well we’ll get one if Iran isn’t stopped right now.
Interesting point Oreo. I don't know the actual history behind the decision of where to place the 'homeland', and it may not be of relevance on this serious thread, but who made the decision and why chose a location surrounded at that time by enemies? Or did the animosity evolve later?
To save derailment of this thread, some kind GN offer me some sources to research.

If Israel is in the direct firing line for an Iranian nuclear attack, why on earth would Israel hand over responsibility for its own safety to international discussion and action/inaction? Would you?
Exactly.
I meant your previous one about the 'surrounded by enemies'. Takes me so long to that I miss subsequent posts.

Israeli nuclear policy
Israel has an official policy of ambiguity with respect to nuclear weapons. It has never confirmed or denied possessing nuclear weapons and has never conducted a nuclear test.
However, it is universally acknowledged that Israel has a nuclear weapons capability which it developed outside the framework of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
Should Israel be allowed nuclear weapons?

Should Israel be allowed nuclear weapons?
They do not admit or deny nuclear capability, nevertheless it is estimated Israel has 400 nuclear weapons, including submarine launched, ballistic missile and aircraft dropped devices.
Very few doubt that they would use them if pushed hard enough
How did they manage to hide so many?

It dates back to Balfour.
As a result of pogroms in Russia, the Russian zionist movement in Russia in the late 19th century/ early 20th approached people in Europe and in particular powerful Jews to persuade them to support their cause for an Israeli state in what was at the time the Ottoman Empire in an area known as Palestine and populated by predominately Arabs, a minority of Jews, a smaller minority of Christian’s and others.
So Rothschild persuaded Balfour of the Zionist cause and the Balfour Declaration was issued, which it agreed in principle to a Jewish Nation.
Hope that helps a bit😊
So why now is Russia, Iran and China stacking up to attack Israel?
Maremia
How did they manage to hide so many?
Because no one is looking for them. Particularly the west
Although I don't want Iran to have nuclear weapons I can understand why they might want them if they know Israel has them.
They could claim it's a defensive move.

So why now is Russia, Iran and China stacking up to attack Israel?
They aren’t.

It’s a terrifying situation. The world is full of power crazed madness at the moment.
Ain't it just? !!!

What I see quoted as the reason for the Israelis "being given" Palestine stems back to it being stated that it's "the Holy Land given to them by God" in the Bible. That's the justification quoted - and never mind it's someone else's country in the first place and not empty land available to give to others.
Check out the Naqba on YouTube. There are some good videos explaining this - ie the Naqba being where the Israelis went for the Palestinians wholesale and started kicking them out of their own country back in the late 1940s and have been steadily grabbing more and more of Palestine ever since - from the point of view of land on the one hand and individual people using violence to kick people out of their homes in order to steal them down at a personal level ever since.

This is the biggest terrifying nonsense I've heard in a very long time.
Nothing, but nothing, puts Israel in more danger than this attack.. NOTHING.
The whole world even.
And the UK also in direct firing line if it agrees to have USA nuclear weapons on our soil.

I've just had a quick check of videos I've stashed on this topic.
On YouTube there is one you might be interested in:
"Al-Nakba: the Palestinian catastrophe - Episode 1" and the channel it's on is = Al Jazeera English.

From the Arab point of the view is known as
The catastrophe.
Jewish friends born and bred in Israel, who worked on kibbutz, who served in the IDF- and have now moved to Europe- are terrified for their children and grandchildren left in Israel, their friends and family (yes, those imaginary Jewish friends of mine, who apparently are a figment of my imagination). They have known about Netanyahu and Ben Gvir, and others- for a very long time. Since the 80s even, that was their plan. Destroy Palestine and all Palestinians. (plenty of evidence available).
I’ve recommended this before, but I’ll do so again.
It is a non-fiction book about a real house with a real lemon tree in the garden. It is situated in a town called Al-Rama, which was was occupied by Arabs for hundreds of years until they were driven out by Jewish settlers in about 1947. A family of Bulgarian Jews has occupied the house ever since.
It is the story of an unlikely friendship between Muslim and Jew.
The Lemon Tree - Sandy Tolan.

So, if I understand this correctly, Israel’s ‘justification’ for bombing Iran is their belief that Iran has developed nuclear weapons ‘outside the framework of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty’.
Yet Israel has done the very same thing! Hypocrisy at its finest!
Surely the real reason is that Israel fears a direct nuclear attack by Iran? The Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty is signed by India, Pakistan,Israel and North Korea.

Thank you for this, will look out for it.
Yes, LizzieDrip this totally.
Don't you think Iran is not afraid of a direct nuclear attack from Israel ronib? And Israel has attacked first this time, not nuclear, but such provocation that makes rataliation, and then a widening of the conflict, so possible and probably inevitable. All will suffer, Israel first, and Palestinians too. The rest of the middle East and then the whole world- in a war where there will be no winners. And certainly not our grandchildren.
