I know this sounds really dense but why shouldn’t Iran have nuclear weapons? There’s no reason to think that Israel would be bombed is there? The rest of the world would come down like a ton of bricks on Iran in that situation. It’s called a deterrent? Forgive my stupidity….

ronib, it is not stipidity, it's lack of understanding. Iran is run by Shia Muslims. They believe that when they have destroyed Isreal, not only have they done Gods will, but that it will also bring about the day of judgement when all infidels will come under Gods judgement. So what incentive do they have for peace?

Please do some reading about Judaism and Amalek- and you will ask the same question.

There is still doubt from experts in the US that there was imminent danger from Iran.
Also Trump acted illegally by not seeking approval from Congress.
By dancing to Netanyahu's tune he has put the whole world in danger and Iran will make sure now that they have a nuclear weapon.

Hi I usually browse but anyone who thinks Iran has no friends are deluded their friends being Russia and China Trump is a madman and a criminal along with his sidekick Netanyahu who wants a much bigger piece of the middle east so unfortunately I don't see there being peace it's scarey I have a nineteen year old grandson whose future I fear for like I'm sure many of you do too. The Americans are strutting around like peacocks this isn't going away from my perspective Netanyahu and the ultras in Israeli government need to go Israeli people are suffering too but their government is being helped by the useful idiot in the white house we all need to pray that china and Russia stay out of this but if Israel keep bombing Iran I doubt that very

Let’s not forget that Trump has stated recently that he wants Canada to be part of America and hasn’t ruled out force to acquire Greenland. So is it any wonder that other regimes find it necessary to have the means to protect themselves from him. If he had more sense he would use soft power to influence other countries ( which is what China does) not brute force.

Pakistan has put forward Trump for the Nobel peace prize.

When he seemed to be trying to broker peace deals I said I thought he was hoping to get the peace prize, but hoped no-one would actually suggest he got it! He wants to be remembered as the great leader who achieved something no-one else could. Sadly he is just a huge ego supporting a limited brain! I just hope we can avoid our bases in the region being used. Seeing what has happened in Gaza and the suffering of so many civilians there, I thought things could only get better, then this!

No they are not funny. They are three stupid old men who want to remain in power. Israel has attacked Syria, Jordan and Egypt in the past, and now Iran. If they bombed Belgium would the world stand by, would America join in? I know the regime in Iran is awful and most Iranians want change but they have no one to rally around to lead them. Now Trump has bombed they will forget their grievances about the regime and want to fight to protect their country. Netanyahu is a thug and there will be no peace while he is in power. The USA gives billions of dollars to Israel for defense so you would think Trump would have some leverage over him but he just goes along with whatever Netanyahu does/says. Our children’s grandchildren will wonder why the world stood by and let Gaza be obliterated, and why there was no outcry over the bombing of nuclear facilities which is illegal under international law. Iran will now suffer a military coup or descend into civil war in which the men with the biggest guns will win. The west helped get rid of the Shah and look what happened then! Now we are seeing a repeat situation. Have we not learnt from Afghanistan and Iraq? Of course we don’t want Iran to have nuclear weapons but we allowed Israel, Pakistan, India and North Korea to produce them. I don’t remember great outcries about any of them.

How many people in here have been to iran and fully engaged with the people. I was there during the revolution getting married to my Iranian fiance 1979. We went every year until 1995. The people are the most hospitable I've ever met. Its a beautiful country despite its restrictions. I speak the language fluently. I haven't seen my inlaws for almost 20 years. My mother in law died broken hearted by because she couldn't see my daughters. It wasn't safe for us to go. Imagine that pain.

I think one of the factors here is that the horrors of World War have, broadly speaking, passed from living memory. It is for the same reason that the rise of Fascism is returning.

They better hurry up with their new nuclear program.
This one that has been destroyed was started in 2006.
Plus they haven’t got to piss in.
Comments from Russia and China are noticeably in their absence.
As for the Gulf of Hormuz, the navel military might that is in that area is awesome.

Yes, unless China or Russia step in.

Russia is pretty much tied up in Ukraine and I do not think China has any appetite for war with USA.

I think Trump made a huge mistake bombing Iran. Iran has now bombed Qatar and Iraq American and British military bases. TV news said exact same number of bombs as America sent to Iran. Hope that's the end of it but knowing Trump..........

What happens next will depend on whether or not there are any American fatalities.

Oh god doesn’t bare thinking about. I feel sorry for all the innocent people of those countries who just want peace.

I think they were evacuated before the attack so no casualties. What will Trump do now? Who knows.
