Trump Asks Israel to Pardon Netsnyahu

Trump wants corruption charges to be dropped for Netanyahu saying it is a witch hunt.
Trump has used witch hunt to deny his own alleged charges.
Opposition in Israel think this may be a strategy by Trump to force Netanyahu to do a deal to get the hostages back and end hostilities in Gaza.
It feels wrong that Netanyahu gets away with corruption but does the end justify the means?

That could also be why it has been reported that the 'Hostage' families are going above Netanyahu's head with their discussions.

If as is repeated often on threads on Israel and Gaza, Netanyahu controls all, He even allowed Hamas to invade Israel, do tell who is/are above him , it really doesn’t make any sense that this PM who can even silence all in defence and military has anyone above him

No probs Annieb, the part I was talking about in the thread you are presumably alluding to, can be found in all of its detail as usual on the BBC.

Anniebach Fri 04-Jul-25 15:32:16

A link naming those above Netanyahu? Please do post a link
thank you

Maremia Fri 04-Jul-25 15:42:13

I don't do links AnnieB, but I'm sure you will on your own be able to find the article on the BBC.
Hope this helps.

Israel has agreed to a ceasefire so it seems it's up to Hamas now and whether Israel will agree to their terms.

Maremia Fri 04-Jul-25 15:48:05

Here's hoping.

Anniebach Fri 04-Jul-25 15:49:56

Thank you, I have looked and decided it is impossible to believe much on threads or BBC,

Just read BBC the bombing on the tea room which was said here journalists having a cup of tea,
The following when thousands are being starved to death ?

The BBC has reviewed 29 names of people reported killed in the strike on the cafe on Monday. Twenty-six of the deaths were confirmed by multiple sources, including through interviews with family, friends and eyewitness accounts.
At least nine of those killed were women, and several were children or teenagers. They included artists, students, social activists, a female boxer, a footballer and cafe staff.

Maremia Fri 04-Jul-25 16:16:47

So, Trump will meet with Netanyahu and Hamas wants srtonger ceasefire guarantees, says The Guardian. Still hope.

Anniebach Fri 04-Jul-25 16:19:51

But what do those above the PM want ?

AGAA4 Fri 04-Jul-25 16:27:14

This war can't go on otherwise there will be no Palestinians left in Gaza. Some in the Knesset actually want that result.

Anniebach Fri 04-Jul-25 16:32:08

Surely if the war is really genocide there wouldn’t be any Palestinians left now ?

Maremia Fri 04-Jul-25 16:36:42

Nothing about it on CNN yet, but will try later.

AGAA4 Fri 04-Jul-25 16:50:10

Trump is expecting to hear from Hamas in the next 24 hours. Reuters.

Anniebach

Surely if the war is really genocide there wouldn’t be any Palestinians left now ?

61.000 so far not enough for you now? Really?

This is just so sickening, this total and absolute denial, again and again.

With 40 dead and over 70 injured in the cafe bombing the IDF are either taking very small steps indeed or are not understanding the aerial surveillance. Still they do claim to have taken out one Hamas operative.
In a statement after the strike, the IDF said it had been targeting "terrorists" and that steps were taken to "mitigate the risk of harming civilians using aerial surveillance".

MayBee70 Fri 04-Jul-25 17:36:15

The cafe was the haunt of journalists I believe.

Anniebach Fri 04-Jul-25 18:21:17

Yes same as been said here , BBC had photograph of the cafe ,
very large. , then this

those gathered at a bustling seaside cafe in Gaza City.
Huddled around tables, customers at al-Baqa Cafeteria were scrolling on their phones, sipping hot drinks, and catching up with friends. At one point, the familiar melody of "Happy Birthday" rang out as a young child celebrated with family.
In a quiet corner of the cafe overlooking the sea, a Hamas operative, dressed in civilian clothing, arrived at his table, sources told the BBC.

Seems a pleasant social gathering

Parsley3 Fri 04-Jul-25 18:37:36

Did the IDF wait until the Hamas operative walked into a pleasant social gathering before they bombed him? All the better to take out civilians as well. No wonder Israel is being criticised for this type of behaviour.

AGAA4 Fri 04-Jul-25 18:39:32

Even in a worn torn country people will talk to friends and celebrate a child's birthday. It may have been that child's last one.
Not pleasant at all.

Anniebach Fri 04-Jul-25 18:42:54

Social gatherings when starvation is killing them , sorry no ,
for me

AGAA4 Fri 04-Jul-25 19:15:41

Much of Gaza is starving but there are parts where although there is a lack people are not at starvation levels yet.
They are being shot though.

Claremont Fri 04-Jul-25 19:18:56

'Seems a pleasant social gathering'

thank goodness that in the middle of this cruel, barbaric, disgusting genocide, some are finding small moments of joy - until they are themselves killed.

Intolerable comment. It is sickening in the extreme.

Parsley3 Fri 04-Jul-25 19:28:14

Anniebach

It wasn't starvation that killed these civilians it was an Israeli bomb. Are you disappointed that there are still pockets of Gaza that the Israelis have yet to bomb to smithereens?
