Would you sit back and let people declaring they wanted to destroy your country ‘from the river to the sea’? Perhaps you think they should just accept it and not fight back ? War is a dirty business. My parents both fought in the 2nd world war where many innocent civilians were killed on both sides. My Dad flew over Germany many times and no doubt was responsible for many deaths as were most RAF fighters. All’s fair in love and war was the catch cry then and perhaps now ?

It’s just about impossible to wage war without civilian casualties, that goes for any modern conflict. It’s really tragic.
What made this so difficult for the IDF is that hamas aren’t always easy to identify and can be anywhere, and those who support them can be in any job.

Extract from a report by Professor Rachel Rosen of UCL

“The commission’s report is not the first time that international organisations and lawmakers have called attention to Israel’s violence against Palestinian mothers and children. In March 2024, Philippe Lazzarini, the commissioner-general of the UN agency Unrwa, wrote on X: “This is a war on children. It is a war on their childhood and their future.” The numbers are “staggering” he said. More children had been killed in Gaza in four months than in all global conflicts in the previous four years.

This has continued throughout Israel’s assault on Gaza. Between October 7 2023 and January 15 2025, children made up at least 18,000 of the 46,707 Palestinians killed in Gaza, according to data collected by the Gaza health ministry. Both figures are likely to be underestimates, as so many bodies remain buried under the rubble.

Most children have been killed by direct military strikes. Israel has dropped an estimated 85,000 tonnes of explosives on Gaza, killing Palestinians through direct hits, biolding collapses, fires and inhalation of toxic substances. Doctors have also reported evidence of children being killed in drone attacks and by snipers, including by shots to the head and chest”

I can if you wish provide much more evidence relating to the deliberate killing of children in Gaza.

Remember Hind

So they just shoot anyone who may possibly be Hamas with no proof like a 13 year old who was queuing for food for his family. Shot in the head and is now unable to move any of his limbs so an extra burden on an already struggling family.

Hind was 5

The WHO have visited the last standing hospital in Gaza. They said it's just one enormous trauma ward with doctors working day and night.
The IDF have also visited to shoot at the hospital and injure more people. The terrified doctors say they fear being killed.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 11-Jul-25 15:35:20

That hospital will almost certainly be destroyed.

Anniebach Fri 11-Jul-25 15:35:27

That hospital is a mystery ,treating 700 patients yet as the majority here claimed , no drinking water, no medication,

Whitewavemark2 Fri 11-Jul-25 15:37:07

Life seems to be a total mystery to you annie

Anniebach Fri 11-Jul-25 15:40:34

I cannot forget several UN aid workers took part in the horrific
start of this war , 7th October 2023, Hamas attack on Israel

So you don't believe the World Health Organisation Anniebach.
I wonder where you get your information from? You don't seem very well informed.

These threads are a mystery, alleged facts change more frequently than the weather.

Maremia Fri 11-Jul-25 15:43:51

Wild claims' made by qualified Medics saying that children have been shot by targetted sniper fire. Not wild claims at all but the sad, sad truth.

Maremia Fri 11-Jul-25 15:45:11

Which 'alleged facts' have changed? Can you highlight a post to substantiate this claim?

Maremia Fri 11-Jul-25 15:49:30

Yes, perhaps Hamas isn't easy to identify in a group of adult males, but seriously, in a queue of women and starving children, waiting for essential baby formula? How difficult is that?
Deliberately targetting children is a war crime. Attempting to wipe out a whole race is GENOCIDE.

Certainly not these threads , but I like facts .

I thought UN trustworthy until they said -

I acknowledge the completion of the investigation by the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) into the serious allegations that 19 area UNRWA staff members in Gaza were involved in the abhorrent attacks of 7 October on southern Israel.

“The allegations were brought to the Agency’s attention in January. In close consultation with the United Nations Secretary-General (SG), I immediately terminated the contracts of the staff in question, in the interest of the Agency, while the SG tasked OIOS to launch an investigation. Additional allegations were brought to our attention in March and April and the concerned staff were added to the OIOS investigation.

“The OIOS investigation’s outcomes are the following:

“In one case, no evidence was obtained by OIOS to support the allegations of the staff member’s involvement. That staff member has rejoined the Agency.

“In nine other cases, the evidence obtained by OIOS was insufficient to support the staff members’ involvement and the OIOS investigation of them is now closed.

“For the remaining nine cases, the evidence – if authenticated and corroborated – could indicate that the UNRWA staff members may have been involved in the attacks of 7 October.

“I have decided that in the case of these remaining nine staff members, they cannot work for UNRWA. All contracts of these staff members will be terminated in the interest of the Agency.

Are you quoting from other threads? Isn't that against the rules?

AGAA4 Fri 11-Jul-25 15:55:48

Some in this Israeli government will be standing trial for war crimes. They can't hide forever in what is described by some as a war.
They have openly said that they want to cleanse Gaza of all Palestinians. Sounds like ethnic cleansing or genocide to me

Maremia Fri 11-Jul-25 15:56:17

Meanwhile, how do you feel about the IDF targetting starving children waiting in a queue for essential supplies, and looking nothing like dangerous adult male Hamas?

Maremia Fri 11-Jul-25 15:57:57

If the intention is to destroy/eliminate a race, then that is legally, officially and in the dictionary called GENOCIDE, and not just here on Gransnet.

AGAA4 Fri 11-Jul-25 16:00:42

Anniebach that is very old news and has been talked about at length ages ago. It was dealt with by the UN and is not relevant now.

Yes, they will be standing trial - even if it takes years, they will eventually have to answer for their words and their actions.

silverlining48 Fri 11-Jul-25 16:10:18

9 people out of thousands of UN staff ? Tiny and now irrelevant after all that has passed since.

Anniebach The WHO is separate from the UN. It deals only with worldwide health issues. The UN deals with peacekeeping and is a huge organisation.
The WHO had nothing to do with the issue at the UN.
