I don’t remember any outrage being levelled at any country bar Israel on this issue.

Because it is banned!

What’s banned?

Israel has been banned ! By whom do and from what ?

Funding from foreign governments is banned in the U.K. so I think it is worth looking more in depth at those MPs who are getting some sort of slush fund from foreign states.

“In its 2024 manifesto, the Labour Party said that it would “protect democracy by strengthening the rules on donations”. The Prime Minister’s spokesman has subsequently suggested that the government will “protect democracy from threats to [sic] foreign interference by strengthening the rules around donations to political parties”.

Ah I see you mean this.
Outright donations from governments banned ,but not those from a foreign business owner or private wealthy donor.
All donations to Labour MP’s from Israeli sources are transparent and easy to see as maremia posts on this thread.
They are not shady under the counter transactions and I think it’s a cheek to suggest they are.MP’s have enough to put up with without this.

If the Palestinians were a viable society before the region became Israel, what has happened to reduce/destroy their ability to support themselves?
Thank you for your responses but,
my question is WHY do they need aid, not HOW MUCH aid do they need?
What has reduces a centuries old society into such an 'aid dependent' one?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 14-Jul-25 13:58:40

Gaza has been an occupied state for decades - you must address that question to the occupier, who in international law is responsible for its economy etc.

Maremia Mon 14-Jul-25 14:01:01

But Oreo, I don't write and publish headlines that say,
'Labour politicians fail to declare all-expenses-paid trip to Israel'
I think it's a cheek to blame me for that.
If you object to these comments, take it up with the newspapers concerned.

Maremia Mon 14-Jul-25 14:04:20

Thank you WWM, I thought that might have been the reason.
Perhaps there never was going to be a way for Gaza to succeed.
Never going to be a good enough future for them.
If someone knows differently, I am happy to read and learn.

Maremia Mon 14-Jul-25 14:05:29

No reports of children being killed today, so that is good.

What is 'all above board' Oreo?
Oh and cease and desist from attempting to dictate to me what I may or may not discuss on an open thread on GN.
I have asked politely.

I'm afraid you're not the only person she tries that with (she'll act all outraged and deny it, of course).

Maremia Mon 14-Jul-25 14:17:50

silverlining48 Mon 14-Jul-25 14:27:56

Sorry to say Maremia but 28 people have been killed so far today and 95 were killed yesterday.

silverlining48 Mon 14-Jul-25 14:38:05

Sadly, numbers risen to 47 today, near an aid centre. Now what is it about a queue of hungry people, waiting to get food after probably very long walks in the heat, that makes soldiers think they can shoot them?
They are not target practice . They are people who have lost everything.

silverlining48 Mon 14-Jul-25 14:39:15

No doubt someone will be along shortly to justify this daily occurrence and I await their response with interest.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 14-Jul-25 14:43:53

There is footage of the latest depravity by the Israelis shooting on the ground, forcing those hundreds queueing for food snd water to grovel face down.

I have absolutely no doubt that some poor devils were shot and maimed or killed.

It is so difficult as there are such dreadful things day after day after day, but I censure the worse for obvious reasons and try to reduce the amount because I dont want it to become normal.

On the other hand there is so much evil that I don’t think they should be allowed to hide from public knowledge.

It is very difficult.

LizzieDrip Mon 14-Jul-25 14:54:32

And so it continues…

I wonder what today’s excuse reason will be … technical error? self defense? just what happens in war?

What on the internet is hidden from the general public ?

As Claremont posted at the beginning of this sad thread, 'because it is not over yet'.

NOT ALLOWED EVEN ONE DAY OF PEACE

AGAA4 Mon 14-Jul-25 15:54:43

Systematic killing with various excuses. They say sorry so that makes it all ok to take a life, especially a child's life that has barely begun.

silverlining48 Mon 14-Jul-25 16:09:55

We never do hear the results of the many promised investigations into all the killings which have been reported do we.

MayBee70 Mon 14-Jul-25 17:30:02

And they shot their own soldiers who were waving a white flag at the time…

silverlining48 Mon 14-Jul-25 17:36:48

They did indeed, they called to the soldiers in Hebrew saying who they were apparently but were killed anyway.

In The Guardian online this morning,

'UN's Albanese hails 30 nation meeting aimed at ending Israel's occupation of Palestine'.

I didn't realise there were 30 nations interested.

AGAA4 Tue 15-Jul-25 09:04:30

Interesting. I didn't know that but makes me more optimistic that others are watching.

Caleo Tue 15-Jul-25 09:09:00

Maremia, I am glad to hear the words "Israel's occupation of Palestine" because it must be pointed out that is exactly what it is : old fashioned colonialism.
