Hi Caleo, bmacca and other Watchers who dip in and out. We all have our feelings and opinions about what is happening in Gaza just now. Some of our replies are a direct response to an individual question, or our own requests for information from other Posters.
When we have information from media sources, we usually give some sort of reference, so that everyone may check out the details for themselves.
It is a very tragic situation, with seemingly no end in sight.

It’s beyond me how a people that have known persecution themselves then do the same to others…. What is happening to the Palestinians is beyond belief and the world is watching and doing nothing. It’s why I can’t watch the news these days. I just feel helpless.

Because Hamas has said on numerous occasions that it will destroy israel.

I didn't write that they target women and children, but the IDF claims that it targets Hamas - it doesn't. The IDF has no idea whether there are any Hamas operatives in the specific hospitals and schools it has bombed. It's "carpet bombing" and it just seems to hope that some of the killed were Hamas.

sheer hatred because they are Jews, the pogrom , Russia
and then Europe , then the Holocaust

but,
we are talking about Palestine, and the genocide that is being enacted on the innocents, the women and children, including Christians, who in no way shape or form may be considered to be Hamas.
We are not talking about a proportionate fight back to protect your own state,
no,
we are talking about war crimes, as defined by international law, not opinions on Gransnet.

Much of what has been discussed on this thread has been garnered from various news outlets and different people. Clear evidence has emerged over time of the genocide of the Palestinian people.
There has been no evidence to deny this is happening.

bmacca, I apologise. You are right., and I was wrong. I was thinking only of popular public opinion.

Even then, I have been biased in my calculations by Gransnet responses which are from almost the same subscribers throughout.

I do wonder a little about the many Gnet subscribers who are apparently not interested in the topic.

It may be not the case that they aren’t interested, but it’s true that there are hundreds and hundreds of GN members and only the same handful of posters.

Some folk want the thread to be just about Hamas.
Others, myself included, wish to sympathise with the people of Palestine, the women, the children, the Christians and other faiths caught up in the genocide with no means of escape.
Threads on GN twist and turn, as you well know.
So no, AnnieB, I do not 'control' the narrative and neither do you.

Just read this thread, and see if you can find evidence of genocide denial.

That is true of most of the longer threads so we don't get opinions from many on a lot of subjects.
The opinions of GNs isn't important in the face of all the evidence that has been provided by British doctors, the Jews who visited Gaza recently and others who have seen what is happening to the Palestinians.
The world has been waking up to the atrocities and condemning the perpetrators.

Other than odd individual incidents over the years the 7 October was the first time Israel has been seriously attacked.

The Palestinians on the other hand have been attacked many times by Israel over many decades but these attacks increased in the last 20 or so years to every couple of years when overall thousands of Palestinians have been killed. Homes destroyed and people driven off their land. The usual.

A number of those killed were youngsters throwing stones. These incursions lasted a few days or a few weeks and were barely reported on by our media but I was interested so I noticed.

It’s easy to find this information online for those who want to know more.

If the young Palestinians had behaved themselves they wouldn’t have been harmed or got into trouble.Throwing stones makes them sound like four year olds, but Palestinians use slings and can kill with stone hurling.
While I don’t agree with what the settlers are doing at all, the West Bank contain all sorts of armed groups and rabble rousers which even the PA can’t control.

I believe you about that, and I agree that a nation state has a right to defend itself,
however
my point is,
threats from a terrorist organisation like Hamas, are not threats from a whole population.
Are you saying that Palestinians are all Hamas?
Even the children and the Christians? Is that your belief?
It is not mine,
and threats and atrocities by a terrorist organisation,
which also causes fear among its own people,
do not ever justify in any way shape or form the war crimes and genocide that is being perpetrated on the people of Palestine.
What Hamas has said, the evil that Hamas has done does not justify genocide.
Luckily more folk in the world are now coming round to that way of thinking.
