It is very difficult to understand what is really happening and what are lies being perpetrated by Israel or Hamas. Add to this reporting restrictions and it is surprising we know as much as we do.

First and foremost is to get food to those people. Too late for many I believe. Hopefully Israel's plan will have failed with so many condemning their actions.

Their plan AGAA4 ?
Their plan was to defeat hamas and get any live hostages, and bodies of dead hostages back.
They haven’t done a bad job of those two objectives.

Well not in my name Starmer. How dare he tell Israel to make peace when Hamas won't agree to any ceasefire terms?

He’s caved into the demands of Labour MPs I expect, he’s between a rock and a hard place.
It doesn’t actually mean anything tho.

Well he can’t outdo Corbyn on this to please his MPs. Some of whom have very precarious majorities and are gunning for this to take back to their constituents. I read somewhere today that it’s virtue signalling. It will mean nothing.

Their plan is to rid Gaza of all Palestinians. If you think killing and starving thousands is not doing a bad job then there's nothing more to say.

Spain and Ireland recognised Palestine as a 'state' back in May. Has it a made a difference to the current situation? Nope.

There are only two countries that can make a difference - Israel and USA.

But we know that, don’t we?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 29-Jul-25 19:01:50

And the children?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 29-Jul-25 19:05:10

Beyond horrific, I totally agree. But let’s be honest - this is political posturing.

In real terms what difference is it going to make whether the UK, France or any other country recognises Palestine?

Since 1988 over 140 countries have already done so, included (so called) superpowers China and Russia. Yet there's still no actual state of Palestine and probably won't be - until the US (and therefor by definition Israel too) decide it's time. Then it'll take another (at least) 50 years to determine the geographic boundaries.

Oreo Tue 29-Jul-25 19:06:13

Hamas, and a lot of Palestinians want to rid Israel of Jews.
What’s new?
Fortunately that’s not going to ever happen.

Maremia Tue 29-Jul-25 19:06:45

Haven't read the outcome in full. It's up to Israel to let the food in. It's all up to them

AGAA4 Tue 29-Jul-25 19:07:34

So all countries should just sit back and allow Israel to kill all the people in Gaza. There's not much we can do but what can be done should be done.
Perhaps the good people in Israel will continue to rebel against this extremist Netanyahu government.

Maremia Tue 29-Jul-25 19:07:55

Point of information, does the UK supply military materials and support to Israel?

Maremia Tue 29-Jul-25 19:08:53

Because if so, then the UK does have a bit of bargaining power.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 29-Jul-25 19:16:13

For me the most important thing, and always has been are the little innocents.

It is too late for many, but the older children may be able to be saved.

Israel for me will never have my support ever again. All my life I have argued and supported it.

Never ever again.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 29-Jul-25 19:18:50

I wonder how Mrs. Starmer feels tonight? She’s Jewish.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 29-Jul-25 19:19:09

A very popular well known Palestinian was brutally killed by an illegal settler in West Bank.

The IDF then forced people away from the mourning tent.

What utterly evil people they are.

Probably like a lot of other jewish people.

Bringin Victoria Starmer into this makes me feel uneasy. I’ve seen comments from those I see as far left, indicating Keir astsrmers “jewish family, here and in Israel “are dictating his decisions. The suggestion is he’s pro Israel anti Palestine

It’s offensive nonsense

Oreo Tue 29-Jul-25 19:33:45

Maybe ashamed of Keir for caving into his own MP’s.
Who knows?
Unfortunately he is a caver as we have all seen ever since he took power.Fortunately this latest cave means nothing in any meaningful way.

Oreo Tue 29-Jul-25 19:35:28

I’m not surprised that a poster here is bringing his Jewish wife into the situation, not surprised at all.

This is a vile post , please apologise Whitewave

Iam64 Tue 29-Jul-25 19:36:29

I’m more convinced he’s caved to the horror and given up trying to persuade Netanyahu to be sensible never mind compassionate

Whitewavemark2 Tue 29-Jul-25 19:37:53

Israel has now banned aerial filming over Gaza. Sky News journalists on an aid drop were warned: record from above, and your flight gets pulled.

You don’t blacklist airspace unless the view exposes a crime. And you don’t hide genocide unless you’re neck-deep in it.

Oreo Tue 29-Jul-25 19:38:03

I don’t think politicians work like that Iam64

Oreo Tue 29-Jul-25 19:39:30

Aid drops are a waste of aid and we know what will happen to most of it, stolen and sold for hard cash.

Anniebach Tue 29-Jul-25 19:43:13

Whitewave you think Victoria Starmer feels ashamed because she is a Jew.

Do tell, how do you think all Muslims feel ?
