Unfolding Genocide

BBC report

“Israel has faced mounting criticism over the 22-month-long war with Hamas, with UN-backed experts warning of widespread famine unfolding in the besieged territory.

On Tuesday members of an international group of former leaders known as "The Elders" for the first time called the war in Gaza an "unfolding genocide" and blamed Israel for causing famine among its population.

Following a visit to the Gaza border, Helen Clark and Mary Robinson, a former prime minister of New Zealand and a former president of Ireland, said in a joint statement: "What we saw and heard underlines our personal conviction that there is not only an unfolding, human-caused famine in Gaza. There is an unfolding genocide."

I read it years ago…

About starting another thread, where is the one about anti- semitism that was suggested, as some posters seem to think think there is a problem with 'closet' anti-semitism. Or maybe it's just their technique for derailing valid comment on war crimes and genocide?
Have been on holiday, so maybe I missed it.
Also have lost track of those lovely posters that Wyllow put u, for some of us to download and display.
Wyllow, if you are not busy, could you re-post?

Jews being attacked in many countries, Hamas states they will kill all Jews. Impossible to separate antisemitism from the war Israel Hamas

My understanding is that the term Antisemitism applies to both Jews and Muslims, Israelis and Palestinians, because both belong to the same group of peoples. Semites.

A memorial in Brighton to those murdered and taken hostage on 7 October is to be relocated after 21 months in a public square, after the local council announced plans for the area to “undergo re-landscaping and a re-planting scheme.”

The 7 October memorial in Palmeira Square was set up a month after the massacre in which 1,200 people were murdered – including 18 UK citizens. Since then, the memorial site has featured a nightly service and delivered more than 550 dedications. Visitors to the site have included Chief Rabbi Mirvis, Board of Deputies President Phil Rosenberg, and CO-CEOs of Progressive Judaism Rabbis Charley Baginsky and Josh Levy.

The memorial has been vandalised more than 50 times, including being completely destroyed on five occasions – it has been lovingly rebuilt each time. Incidents include the memorial book being slashed as well as faeces smeared across it. Antisemitic leaflets have also been left in the vicinity, and mourners have at times been aggressively harassed. Four arrests have been made associated with crimes committed there

'Tragic mishap' as stated by Netanyahu, or deliberate targetting of people who should be out of bounds for bombing...medics, patients, journalists.

'Tragic mishap' as stated by Netanyahu, or deliberate targetting of people who should be out of bounds for bombing...medics, patients, journalists.

The double hits have happened far too often for it to be a “tragic mishap”

The trick is to hit a target, wait for people to rush in to help the injured, then hit the same (now destroyed) target again, but this time taking out a double lot of civilians.

Works every time.

Such knowledge of war zones, or too many war films

They claim to be in the top ten of armies in the world. Yet they make so many 'mistakes'? Sorry, not sorry. Let's investigate, but we'll do the investigation. Heard it too many times to believe it now.

Spot on.
For a fighting force which countries round the world look to for expert advice on military matters it seems strange that so many tragic mistakes are made.
Even looking at the probability for human errors in any endeavour this level of gross incompetence is staggering.

I was disgusted by the word 'mishap' for the killing of 20 people. Mishap is usually a minor accident like spilling a jug of milk. Trying to downplay the deliberate killing.

It’s a truly horrific, evil strategy.

As well as civilians killed in the second strike, there would be health workers coming to the aid of those injured during the first strike.

The IDF would know this.

It is war crime to deliberately target health workers … not a bloody ‘mishap’.

Shame on you Israel.

A mistake would be a better word than mishap perhaps.Nobody on this thread knows with any certainty that it wasn’t deliberate or that it was.

So they are either evil or useless. I wonder which they'd prefer.

Oreo Wed 27-Aug-25 22:19:01

They’re neither, that would be hamas you’re talking about.

theworriedwell Wed 27-Aug-25 22:36:18

So how do you explain all their mistakes? Would a competent army kill paramedics, deny it, faced with evidence claim they were behaving suspiciously driving with lights out, film showed they were lying. So they murdered those men which is evil.

They shot escaped unarmed hostages waving white cloths. Incompetent or evil?

So yes actually useless and evil. Hamas behaviour does not give the IDF a get out of jail free card.

Some of us can see evil from two sides, some insist it is only Hamas.

Oreo Thu 28-Aug-25 08:00:47

It isn’t evil, it’s what happens in any war or conflict, all this about ‘competent army’ isn’t reasonable. They are hunting hamas which is no easy thing and rely on their intelligence sources on the ground in Gaza. They would have been told about cameras on the hospital roof and balcony.
Think about any conflict anywhere in the world either now or from the recent past.So many mistakes will have happened.

AGAA4 Thu 28-Aug-25 08:10:33

Was stopping aid getting into Gaza another mishap? The US have said in their investigation there was no evidence of Hamas interfering with aid it was all Israel.

Do you refer to the Bedouin tribes who are looting aid?

AGAA4 Thu 28-Aug-25 08:26:40

It's bon the BBC website ronib. Look it up.

Do you refer to the Bedouin tribes who are looting aid?

Yes the trickle of trucks being allowed through by Israel are being looted. The UN have said hundreds of trucks are needed but Israel are not allowing them through.

ronib Thu 28-Aug-25 08:32:45

I thought the Palestinian Bedouins were looting a very large number of aid trucks now and that prior to the war, Hamas fought off the Bedouins.

Anniebach Thu 28-Aug-25 08:37:56

The truth from UN and BBC !

It is believed that Israel is behind the attacks. They sent aid trucks along a very dangerous route and of course they were looted.
Some say Israel are funding these gangs.
