Man made famine - the world should be ashamed

We sit by watching as children starve to death, their mothers’ cannot feed them and their fathers’ unable to provide them with food.

Every single calorie is controlled by one government.

Why are we allowing this situation to continue?

I wish people would stop and read Israel’s voice….

I read the Times of Israel which I believe is a reputable newspaper? I do this to try and understand why so many Israelis don't care that their government is responding to the terrible Hamas atrocity with such inappropriate force. I do understand that the Israelis' priority is to get the hostages back. I do understand that the Israelis do not want another atrocity such as that on 7 October 2023.

I do not understand why so many Israelis seem to support indiscriminate killing of Palestinians on the pretext of killing Hamas operatives. I don't understand why some Israelis don't care about the targeting of infrastructure such as hospitals, and professionals such as medics and reporters. These are war crimes.

I do not understand why some Israelis do not seem to understand that the Israeli government's actions, and future actions if Netanyahu's pronouncements are to be believed, have meant that much of the hitherto sympathy and respect for Israel has been lost over the last 22 months. A commander of IDF, I think that's who he was, wrote to Netanyahu a few mouths ago to give his opinion that the inappropriate force being used against the Palestinians will mean that the people of Israel will be less, not more, safe in the future, yet still the bloodshed continues.

And while we are looking at Gaza, the Settlers are stealing yet more of the West Bank Palestinian land, often violently, all sanctioned by the Israeli Government. I don't understand the mindset of people who think that is acceptable. Hamas operatives are not in the West Bank, so they can't be a convenient excuse for the subjugation of the Palestinians there.

It is most certainly not 'all Gaza's doing'. Palestinians have been harried and bullied by Israel to such an extent that of course they've rebelled. Israel has created this army of freedom fighters by their own behaviour.

Freedom fighters? Hollow laugh! They’re terrorists and cold bloodied killers of families, they’re cowards too, for all their mad extremist bullshit. It’s the end for them now.

Next step Hamas will be heroes, so petty

Babs03 Wed 27-Aug-25 22:11:18

Hamas are not heroes, and for a while following the atrocities committed on 7th Oct the majority were supporting the Israeli response to the attacks. Western governments rallied round the government pledging support which resulted in more weapons as well as moral indignation.
But that support was sorely tested as time went on and the death toll from Gaza doubled, then trebled, then quadrupled, and a convoy of aid workers were killed, hospitals and schools where people went for safety were targeted. And the death toll continued to increase. Gradually voices in various governments became concerned, populations started to demonstrate. Everyone was getting queasy. As international laws started to be flouted and war crimes declared western governments started to distance themselves, to withdraw support, and to become openly critical. These were previously die hard supporters of Israel not fickle fair weather allies, but still the death toll increased. Then came the famine and the majority who had stood by Israel were becoming disgusted by increasing reports from aid agencies and medics on the ground in Gaza.
Now only a minority support Israel and a U.S. President who once described the leader of Northern Korea as a strong man who is good for his people.
Hardly a great judge of character.

This persistent trope of anyone condemning the actions of the Israeli government must be a supporter of Hamas has been shown time and time again to be absolute nonsense. The long list of countries that used to support Israel but now are condemning it's behaviour aren't suddenly supporting a terrorist group they are showing their humanity and belief in following the rules of war. Just like most if not all of the posters on this forum.

ronib Thu 28-Aug-25 08:37:53

Just been informed that the Palestinian Bedouins are looting large numbers of aid trucks and that prior to this war, Hamas had kept the Bedouins in check.

So I guess Israel is still to blame for not fighting the Bedouins? Along with Hamas, Iran, Houthis, and etc….

Children under 15 years old made up almost a third of outpatients treated for wounds in field hospitals run by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Gaza last year, statistics published in The Lancet reveal.

The figures were released by MSF in correspondence with the respected medical journal and come from six health facilities in Gaza supported by the international medical NGO. The facilities are predominantly in the south and centre of the devastated territory.

More than 90,000 outpatient consultations involving wounds were carried out at the facilities in 2024. Bombs, shelling or shooting was involved in just under half of these, MSF said.

AGAA4 Thu 28-Aug-25 09:23:23

The shooting of children is routine for the IDF. This is the sort of action you expect from terrorists not a supposedly well trained army.
As some of the key figures in the Israeli government have been convicted of violence then this is why there is so much brutality.

I would say what thousands of Israelis, including families of hostages, are saying.

Their voices deserve to be heard.

I would ask them to beseech their government to stop this war as many Israelis are doing.
I would ask them to ensure better security for their people than was available in October 2023.
I respect the Israeli people as I would any other civilised nation. They can't be blamed for the actions of their extreme right government.

ronib Thu 28-Aug-25 09:46:23

For all we know, Mr Bibis has.

Back to the days when a woman asked to be raped because she wore a mini dress, blame the victim

He may have ronib, but his government are clearly ignoring him, and many thousands of other Israeli voices.

How can this be supported?

Anniebach Thu 28-Aug-25 09:56:38

The darling bibas children, not content with
The Bibas little ones, not content with murdering them , the Palestinians
mocked and cheered their coffins

ronib Thu 28-Aug-25 10:15:22

It’s even worse than that Anniebach - the coffin didn’t contain the body of Mrs Bibis and it took many months for her body to be returned to her husband.

So much misery and suffering.

The roads in Gaza apparently smell from rotting bodies trapped under the rubble and no one has the wherewithal to get them out and give them a decent burial.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Aug-25 10:23:20

Still according to the White House the war in Gaza is expected to be over by the end of the year, and on the first day Trump is moving in to develop the strip with all his razzmatazz and tacky nonsense.

Meanwhile what happens to the inconvenience of 2 million people who are in the way?

Yes ronib , how could anyone forget that day, the family taken hostage wasn’t enough for the Palestinians, they verbally abused them when releasing their corpses,

ronib Thu 28-Aug-25 10:26:14

I feel physically sick whenever I see a photo of the Bibis family.

There is a photograph of the mother clutching her baby as the murderers approached her , and the photographs of the two little ones Kfir and Ariel being loved by their parents .
