Galaxy the ‘concern about immigration’ can be addressed via the ballot box. Nobody is saying uncontrolled illegal immigration is acceptable, but there is a huge difference between illegal and legal migration, and asylum seeking.
The asylum hotel system was introduced by the Tory government - there has been multiple times to approach your MP and vote for what you wanted (14 years they were in power). It’s abhorrent that people draped in the national flag choose instead to assemble outside places of asylum and sanctuary to ‘protest’ carrying hostile messages on boards and chanting obnoxious and clearly racist things. As the people in those places have no power at all to change things about immigration, or asylum, the only reason the flag wavers are there is to intimidate and scare people inside their place of safety.
These are the same bullying tactics used by the Third Reich. That regime chose a minority to victimise, stirred up Germans to direct their hatred and blame at them for anything and everything. The ghastly things that followed are well documented.

The Union flag being flown on multiple lamp posts is being hijacked by the Far Right under Farage’s steerage to convey messages of hostility to certain groups. It’s shameful given that our ancestors fought and died to rid another country of Facism and here we are in 2025 heading towards the intolerant Right.

You do realise these flag flying mobs are being bussed around the UK to scent mark. There are not vast groups in local areas of local people doing this. It’s an illusion to try and suggest they are the majority when clearly they are not.
I have never felt more worried for my black and brown fellow citizens than I do now. I have never felt more concerned that ignorance is smothering compassion and common decency.

Nothing wrong with displaying the flags on your own property, especially when it’s often sports related.

Using it to intimidate others or “scent marking” is disgusting and racist and (in my humble opinion) totally unacceptable!

Birmingham Council removed England/ Union Jack flags from lamp posts because of health and safety reasons but left the Palestine flags flying. Then they started flying the Pakistan flag to celebrate their independence. This was what started it all off. Have to say I like to see all our flags flying.

Lots voted Labour because they felt the Tories let them down on immigration this isnt just something that came out of nowhere, many of us are not the least surprised.

I am second generation German so I probably don't need an explanation of German history to me, or an explanation of the different forms of immigration.
They have been using the ballot box for over a decade now and it has been completely ignored by all parties.
I don't listen to the word far right from the progressives any more I am afraid, it has been rendered meaningless to me.

I don’t see or hear anyone in the media mentioning the fact that it was the Conservatives Party that started using hotels to house migrants. And they also don’t mention that prior to Brexit we could send people back to other countries ( the Dublin Agreement I think it was called). Farage was going on about ex servicemen sleeping on the streets. And yet he wants to get rid of many of the things that our soldiers fought and died for. No one ever confronts him with his lack of workable policies. Why are the media supporting him so much?

Maybe get rid of some of the Pride nonsense, such as rainbow pedestrian crossings, positively dangerous. Remove unauthorised flags whether they be St George, Palestinian or anything else that could be deemed a distraction to motorists depending on where they are placed. If there were more of an even-handed approach to some of that, it might go some way towards not flying flags in inappropriate places. There is a perception that some causes are lauded and their regalia is permissible, whilst the national flag is something that shouldn't be too visible.

Laboutine I'll address a couple of issues.

Firstly, I do find some of the British flags racist - for the very simple reason that some of them are. I've provided the proof and I'm not going to waste my time providing it again.

Secondly, I might have to live with racist flags being flown, but I don't have to do so quietly (no matter the size of my underwear).

Thirdly, I know who I am, but I don't hold any exalted position - and I have never claimed that I do. Nevertheless, you are wrong. There are laws about where flags can be flown, so it's not true that they can be flown wherever people want.

Fourthly, are you squaring up to me? (It's quite an amusing thought. Will you be waving your standard as you go into battle?)

We all know that the far right have tried to hijack our flags but we won’t give in to it, both the flag of St George and the Union flag belong to all of us.When I see them being flown and see Union bunting in towns it gives me a little lift🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿😃
Now to your assertion that ‘I do find some of the British flags racist’ well, I think what you meant to say was you find some of the people wearing or waving them was for racist reasons a big difference there!

I'm with the dogs on this one. It isn't just territory marking for no reason. It happens instinctively when a dog feels stress and anxiety of any sort, usually over a major change in their environment. It's a perfectly natural phenomenon that their feelings of insecurity result in their emptying their bladders, with pheronomes, females dogs do it as well as males.
So maybe that's exactly what the protesters in Epping were doing, showing their anxiety and fear?

While I was thinking about flags last night I also thought of territory marking, too. How much is it going to cost to remove all that paint etc? I can’t believe that anyone could possibly think that there isn’t a racist motive behind all of this.

There is a lot of denial about why so many flags are suddenly being flown. We are kidding ourselves if we don’t see this is being driven by the Far Right and liked to the ‘stop the boats’ slogan shouter Farage.
Nothing wrong with being proud of your origins or your country, but you have to ask if people suddenly woke up one day and thought ‘I must get a flag to show I love my country’ - clearly not.

Having concerns about immigration isn't a hatred of strangers. The campaign is incredibly effective because the middle class can do nothing about it. This is and always has been about class.

People will fly whatever flag they want to. I find it vaguely terrifying that people are now saying people shouldn't do things because of the thoughts that they think are in their heads.

Not "think" Galaxy - just read the posts on social media from the people who are putting these flags up.

We’re getting into surreal territory now, nobody has suggested banning the use of the England flag have they? We ought to ban the pillock who painted one on a traffic island in North Wales though, for dumb ignorance.
