I believe the "duckhouse" MP had his financial affairs scrutinised.

Just a thought! One of Angela Rayner's sons is severely disabled. I wonder if the trust has anything to do with making sure he's supported, if she should die.

We do expect our MPs to uphold the laws they make and so they will be subject to scrutiny.

It sounds as if it's normal to accept freebies from wealthy donors, but what do they want in exchange?

Quite logical.

It may also be the case that the house has been adapted to meet his needs. If the father lives there most of the time and Angela Rayner when she is in the constituency that would make sense.

I would also point out that Ed Davey also has a disabled child. A fact he rarely publicises and does not use as an excuse for financial prestidigitation

Ed Davey has talked on record about his son many times M0nica, and about adapting his house to meet his needs. Whether he has two homes or not remains a mystery, probably because nobody in the media is interested enough to ask the question? That is not a slur on Ed Davey by the way, I like him.

Casdon gives accurate information about Ed Davey’s openness about caring for his son. During the election campaign he focussed a lot on the needs of parents of disabled children, and on children carers

If it was necessary for Angela Rayner to make adaptations to the house her son lives in there would have been no need to conceal them. For Starmer to speak of a court order suggests a cover -up; the financial affairs of public figures should be transparent because it is public money which is funding them.
I have thought for some time that there are many earners who could certainly afford to pay more in taxes but take apparently simple steps to avoid paying as much as they should. And very vulgar to boast about it.

As for Ed Davey, I thought it most distasteful the way he kept displaying his son throughout his election campaign.

Perhaps those legal "steps to avoid taxes" should change, apart from "proposed sweeping tax cuts for individuals and businesses."

Sharing information about the home adaptations needed for a disabled child should not be in the public domain. They are private, between an individual and the taxman.

Major adaptations to make a property disabled friendly would need planning permission so would be in the public domain.

The son is visually impaired and has learning difficulties.

There’s a very interesting piece in DM today by Andrew Pierce regarding AR and her waiting in the wings to get Starmer out and become PM.

That would be a great idea. Labour would be well and truly finished if that ever happened.

It was the same with Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn and even Theresa May (who I thought had fabulous taste, shoes in particular)

It’s always open season on MPs and anyone in the public eye, the growth of social media has just exacerbated it.

Also, Rishi's trouser length, Truss' frilly blouses - it's all there, nothing to do with performance, just observation.
FWIW I rather like AR's colour blocking choices, but less so the style.

I don’t think I’ve ever liked what she wears but that could easily be forgiven if I thought she was any good at her job.I don’t btw.
Same for R Reeves, tho she does usually look very smart and well put together.
