Qatar, alongside most of the Middle Eastern countries do not see Hamas as terrorists. It is only “allies” of Israel who have classified them as terrorists.

The Middle East see Hamas as freedom fighters.

For successful peace talks it is necessary to dial down the rhetoric.

Big mistake to convince Israelis and its allies that to get rid of Hamas gets rid of the issue.

It never will, until Israel stops its land grab and suppression, and negotiates peace talks in good faith, which it certainly hasn’t done to date.

The peace talks taking place in Doha were being conducted in bad faith on Israel’s part.

Terrorists are those who go mob handed into another country in the wee small hours with the express intent of murdering families in their beds, tipping babies out of cots and smashing their little heads against the wall, stabbing and shooting, wrapping women and children in wire and burning them alive,
Shooting teenagers and young people who were half asleep at a music festival like fish in a barrel.Raping young women there in a gang bang then mutilating them before killing them.
Forcing children, men and women into cars, vans and taking them back into Gaza as hostages. 1,200 or so murdered, and over 200 taken as hostages.
They are terrorists and any country who regards them as
‘Freedom fighters’ is a country you wouldn’t want anything to do with.
Do you see them as freedom fighters or terrorists?

Views of Palestinians seem myopic to me tbh.

Most of us were fully behind Israel in 2023. Since then the atrocities committed by the IDF have turned people away.
The murder of the little 5 year old begging for help certainly made me think again.
I am not anti Israel. I am anti Netanyahu and his brutal sidekicks. The characters of these men has made people realise how they are capable of the despicable killings particularly of children.

Anti Netanyahu's genocidal policy. That's it.

The message about the massacre is usually, oh yes it was awful but have you read any history of the region type of comment.
Then the massacre is brushed under the carpet entirely.
Thousands took part in it and relished it, other Gazans celebrated with parties and gunfire when they heard about it.
I feel sorry for any Palestinians who disliked hamas but it must be realised that a lot did like them.
They are all suffering alike now of course.

Views on innocent children being murdered by a powerful state are wide open, not myopic, and these views are beginning to be shared by more around the world.
Ursula von der Leyen has just requested that the EU strengthen sanctions against Israel because of what is being done to the people of Gaza.

And there have been so many attempts to brush genocide under the carpet.

This has to be repeated.
After the heinous murders of innocent Israelis by Hamas on Oct 7th many of us were with the Israeli government, as were most western governments and other governments around the world, vigils were held, candles lit, and we were not too perturbed when the IDF took military action against Hamas, we saw it as necessary.
But then the numbers of dead civilians started to stack up, hospitals and schools were hit and some started to feel a bit queasy, it was becoming disproportionate and those of us who knew the history of the area started to see the writing on the wall.
Fast forward to aid workers killed, journalists killed, aid obstructed, people starving, mainly babies and children, and the numbers of the dead nearly 63,000.
And now all sympathy for the Israeli government has turned to horror and disgust. With allies turning away and Israel, the first world democracy of the ME, the darling of the west, becoming a pariah state.
It’s not that people now support Hamas we still feel repulsed by them, but neither can we support state sponsored terrorism.

I have been anti-Netanyahu for a number of years.

His corruption, things like the “submarine affair” which risked Israeli security, the policy that has enabled the illegal settlers in West Bank and his judicial reforms. Are amongst the many reasons that I have always considered Netanyahu bad for Israel, for the region and the world.

They are not anti-Israel, they were disturbed by Israel’s disproportionate response and wanted a ceasefire.
They are called peace marches. Nobody on those marches wanted more bloodshed on either side.
A minority will always cause trouble at every March but you can’t judge the majority by what a minority do.

I could give examples if Islamophobia, of mosques defaced and residents scared to go out. But am not sure what this is adding to the discussion, except of course that antisemitism and Islamophobia are at record levels in the UK.

There will "always be one" I guess and I know one cannot target all Jews and make out they are responsible for what Netanyahu gets up to.

I guess most of us "take individual people as we find them". The single most vehement person I know right now that is arguing back against Netanyahu and Co is quite open that she's Jewish. Also equally open that she is very strongly indeed against what the Israeli government is doing. She lives here in Wales and is a friend of mine and every single day she's fighting/fighting/fighting with post after post up on Facebook exposing what the Israeli government is up to and sending some of her own money (and she's not well-off) to support a Palestinian family in Gaza and asking others for any contributions they want to add to it. I have no doubt whatsoever she is absolutely sickened by what is happening there.

No-one would dream of attacking her for being a Jew - as we're all very well aware she's quite open about being one and quite openly attacking Netanyahu as hard as she can manage verbally. She hates him with a passion.
