So what?
It wasn’t me that disagreed with what was being posted and I know full well to attack that and not the poster, pity that the other poster who was deleted didn’t adhere to that wisdom!
It’s up to you what you choose to ignore but I will always report a personal attack where I see it.

I was told by a poster that they were personal attacks on me.

I think if that was the case (I didn’t see them), you should have been the one to decide if you were prepared to let them stand or not Oreo.

Why the pile on?
A poster alerted me, and I reported it, end of.If personal attacks go unchallenged then they proliferate.A deleted post makes the poster think on.
Just keep personal remarks and insults out of posts, simple.

If I report anything, I will publicly say that’s what I’ve done Oreo, but I would not personally want somebody else to report a post that was rude to me before I’d seen it.

You have it all wrong , but that doesn’t matter.It was reported and deleted and that’s the end of it.
If anyone adds to this pile on I will report that too. Nothing is deleted without good reason but take it up with the mods if it continues to bother you.

Moving on… looking at everything around the Charlie Kirk movement I think that his murder has made things much worse all round.Not only for his family and friends and the family of the shooter, but making a martyr of anyone only makes the movement grow.

I thought the Utah senator gave a good summary.

The Utah Senator honed in on social media’s impact, saying there is often “zero liability for what people are putting out there.”

“It (social media) can be positive, but I fear in many cases, it’s a huge weight and a very negative weight on this generation.”

Update: according to the Utah Governor, the shooter allegedly was a leftist and in a relationship with his roommate who was transitioning.

I do have to wonder how he went from wearing a Groyper costume as a teen to killing Charlie Kirk.

He is apparently not cooperating with the authorities. The article says they are getting all information from his family and friends.

The f-ing idiot needs to be a man, accept he started a possible civil war and be held accountable as soon as possible.

Therefore it would be very sad if he receives the death penalty.

Who knows what he thinks. If this is true, and while I hoped it wasnt, I have no reason to doubt the Gov, This young man set LGBTQ rights back even further.

I am sure more information will be coming out, I will update as I hear things.

I am happy to answer questions about the possibility of sentencing in Utah, if anyone wants that information and wants to have a non-emotional conversation about law and procedures. You can even PM me if you want if you have questions. There are all kinds of Constitutional protections for cases such as these, which trigger automatic appeals.

Something about this "one semester at college radicalized him" narrative seems way to convenient to me. Especially at a time when conservatives are attacking colleges as liberal cesspools and doing everything they can to take over curriculum and are banning books as fast as they can get away with it. The details seem so vague as well. I can't believe that nothing has come up on Social Media. One thing I know about people on the Internet, they can find some things. But we haven't seen a single screen shot of a discord account, nothing from any Social Media accounts. Just nothing about him. He is a gamer and apparently reportedly on 4chan and discord, I would expect him to be using Snap Chat at least.

There are many things that can happen on a college campus in one semester that can start the path to radicalization, so I am not saying I don't believe it happened. I will be interested in seeing more information as it is released the next few days. Hopefully it starts answering some of these questions and closing gaps.

'Nothing has come up on Social media' that very term makes me cold with the thought that we now rely on SM for our information.

People don't need to know every tiny detail of an event that has been blown out of all proportion.

Kirk was a child of SM and in the end it killed him.

This is what we have to learn about, not about who he was dating or how long he was in college.

I have some sympathy with what you say there keepingquiet and am content myself to see what comes out eventually when the police and FBI have done their work.I don’t want or need any guesswork or updates from SM as that could well be all wrong in any case.

The other issue is that at some point the Accused will come to trial. Will it be before a jury? If so, with all of the discussions here, there and everywhere, how will they find Jurors with, how do they phrase it, no prior opinion?

When I heard that the suspect had escaped I did think he may have gone to commit suicide.

Due to people's opinions around this event it could be very difficult for this young man to get a fair trial, but because he handed himself in and declared himself guilty in will not go to a jury.

It seems he has already been condemned to death by popular opinion, so I suggest he will be under constant observation and suicide watch in any case.

I am not at all sure how my musings about the suspects lack of social media history was translated to me only getting my news off of social media and needing every detail of the case. How strange.

The suspects background is pertinent to those of us living in the increasingly more violent culture war that is currently happening in the United States.

My first thought, too. I can’t remember an incident like this in which the perpetrator survived, at least not in recent years. Whatever his beliefs I can’t help but feel that the Trump administration will want him to be left leaning.

He hasn't confessed to the shooting, he is not co operating with authorities, or certainly that's the latest BBC report.
