The man who shot and wounded Trump was registered republican the only time they voted. I don't think we can always know why people shoot people. Often it is just the thought of fame or mental illness. Someone can be dedicated to a person or a cause until a switch flips somewhere in their heads.

Confessing doesn't mean he wont see a jury though. Especially when the possible sentencing is so serious.

There is also the matter of, based on the Governors update last night, the confession going to a member of the clergy after his father contacted him. If that is the case, it could mean that the confession wont be admissible in court any how. Any defense attorney worth the money will attempt to have it thrown out of court if that is what happened.

If the suspect is not cooperating at this time, I cant imagine he is going to suddenly change his mind, enter a plea of guilty in the courts and accept the death penalty. But nothing is set in concrete.

In this case, there is little doubt that the man shot Kirk, so I expect a Not Guilty by Reason of Mental Defect plea, or whatever Utah's version of that defense is, but really who knows. After it was reported that he was chatting on Discord after the shooting (based on the article I posted last night), I think that is going to be a hard defense.

Hopefully he decides to accept responsibility for his violent choice and decides not to put Kirk's family through the pain of a trial. His wife and kids have been through enough.

The suspect was registered to vote, however he had not registered for a specific political party. I am unsure of how Utah works for voter registration, because I do not live there. In my state, you can be registered to vote at the DMV when you renew your drivers license at 18. You do not have to pick a political party at that time, we are told you can go online and pick one of 3 parties (R, D or Unaffiliated). You must choose one of those 3 in order to be able to vote, however, and you do not have to vote for the party you are registered for.

It has been reported in the news that he was registered, but had never voted since turning 18. There was a man with the same name that lived in Utah that made a donation to Trump before the suspect was 18. So that isn't him.

I did go back to look because I couldn't think of any far left posts that would have been deleted. There were only the two by Growstuff, who is certainly not " far left". Not that it would matter as posts are deleted because they break the rules not for political reasons. PerhapsPrimrose can explain why she posted what she did, I was totally confused by her post as others seem to have been.
