We can't say why he was murdered. He spoke on numerous controversial issues.
There us also the possibility it was a random crazy person.

Charlie Kirk shot
(1001 Posts)Isn’t it ironic that someone who made statements that some gun deaths are inevitable and justifiable to protect 2nd Amendment rights. - was shot by someone whose “rights” he was protecting.
Before anyone jumps on me - of course no one should be murdered for their views.
Or a personal matter.
People are speculating here, making offensive accusations aimed at people who are to the left politically, and even suggesting it could be because Charlie Kirk supported Israel.
Surely for now we should mourn a young man, just 31, younger than any of my ACs.
A video of Charlie Kirk on Instagram, speaking to a very, very large crowd of people, many tributes paid to him by young people too
Yes he had cut through with many young people, I have been aware of him for some time and knew lots of his discussions were with young people who disagreed with him, but the level of interest from some young people who don't usually engage with politics has surprised me.

Galaxy - this morning, I saw photographs of people called leftwing, celebrating his death.
We seem to be increasingly polarised.
That wouldn't be in the Daily Mail by any chance?
I am left wing and like most others lefties I would never celebrate anybody being murdered but both left and right have their lunatic fringe.
This was a young man in his 30s with a wife and children who was shot dead in front of a huge crowd. I am probably opposed to everything he believed in but that is not the point.
However, I agree with the point Iam64 makes that "We seem to be increasingly polarised."
Speculation the shooter was up on the rooftop. Quite some distance away. Some sniper with a sights rifle to be that accurate. Scary.
We should not forget that politicians in the UK face the same risks, celebrities too, there are crazy people everywhere.

Charlie Kirk was only 31y. He was a devout Christian and loving family man with two young children, now fatherless this morning. What an indictment of intolerance when you cannot debate, discuss or disagree with someone else’s opinions without resorting to murder. This is what left liberal intolerance looks like.

Why is Christianity seen as a virtue? In many cases it isn't!. For Americans it was prejudice against one type of Christianity that started their country - not that long ago in the history of countries.
I don't know which branch of Christianity this man belonged to but I would certainly want to know before talking a British person's view, with our very different perspective, that his religion, whatever it is, made him a good person. It sounds very like the same prejudice that thinks of people, who share some other religions, as bad.
I'm not sure what type of devout Christianity goes along with saying black people aren't as intelligent as white people and only get jobs by stealing the jobs of white people, that people are frightened if their pilot is black and that some people dying as a result of gun violence is a price worth paying for the 2nd Amendment. Like anyone else Kirk shouldn't have been shot however vile his views but he was many, many miles from being a Christian.
To be honest I didn't know the man or anything about him. I'm so very sorry to hear about this tragedy and for the family and friends he leaves behind. This world is really beginning to scare me.

You mean he didn’t share your views as a Christian? What of RC and Anglican churches which wouldn’t accept homosexuality until quite recently?
I wasn't really aware of the man or his politics, apart from absolute tyrants, I'm very sorry when someone is taken from their loved one in this manner. I think no matter how much you disagree with an individual's politics, to gloat about their death is pretty horrible.
I'll always remember here on GN, posters across the political spectrum lamented the vicious and violent deaths of Jo Cox and David Ames, as any decent person would.

See my post above. That's what right wing intolerance looks like.
My earlier post disappeared. Democrat Melissa Hortman and her husband shit leaving two children orphans. To be husband if Nancy Pelossi attacked with a hammer.
Let's not pretend left or right have exclusive claims to political violence.
She was shot, I hate autocorrect or is it my fat fingers.

Good point David49:
Two murders this century in the UK.
Jo Cox (Labour) age 41 married with two children. Stabbed and shot 2016.
David Amess (Conservative) age 69 married with five children. Stabbed 2021.

"Each man's death diminishes me". You can deplore his shooting but disagree with his views. The man was a racist and a homophobe, as well as an apologist for 'The right to bear arms.' I disagree with practically everything he believed in.
LBC played several clips from speeches he made: he gave every indication of being a staggeringly unpleasant individual.
It is very sad and deplorable that a lone madman can shoot someone. I hope they catch the coward. I feel really sorry for his young family that they should have to endure this.

No one knows who the attacker was or their politics. Speculation is dangerous and could cost further lives.
It’s clearly obvious where there politics lie.
And what if the murderer turns out to be someone who is mentally unstable and also an extreme right winger?
I do not know and presumably neither do you.
If you have inside knowledge of them, then it’s you duty to inform the authorities.

Some 120+ families a day endure their 'loved one' being shot and killed in the USA. We're not mourning them...
This guy defended the 'right to bear arms'. If you and your supporters agree that it's OK to live by the sword then they can't be surprised if you die by the sword.
I was out early this morning as I’m looking after my granddaughter today, and I heard a journalist who had been there saying on the news at 8 that there were no bag checks at the event, which are normally done routinely for this type of thing, Somebody will have some questions to answer I think, if that’s true.
My daughters are not political so this morning one of them phoned me to have a word with my granddaughter.
It appears he is held up by youngsters as the new messiah so my granddaughter was upset.
I put her straight on his beliefs.
Did you. I let my children have their own thoughts.

No words. I just feel sick.
