Well I’m a Starmer supporter, but he is beset by problems at home and internationally. Some of his own making such as the Winter Fuel Allowance debacle. He seems to be dealing well with Trump, but that is always a volatile situation.

I’m not sure anyone else would do any better.

The Tories had five prime ministers in fourteen years, and the turnover increased with time. But this is only Starmer’s second year in office and he has a huge four hundred seat majority.

The Reform Party is undoubtedly a major threat in electoral terms. Other threads here point out that migration looms large in the media, but perhaps there are more important issues for most of us.

mcSweeny dodged a criminal offence on a technicality.

“Whoops I made a mistake”, pretty much what AR said. 😂

You need to improve your sources Primrose53. We know what The Canary is.

Surprised there has been no mention on here about the latest scandal with McSweeny.

My opinion is, if someone is not an actual MP, they get largely overlooked.

I think when you get to this stage ( admittedly this usually happens when a party has been in government for years) the scandals/cock ups just keep mounting, it becomes unstoppable after a while

18 months, or is it 16, seems very early to me, for a Party to be getting into such bother.

Is Sir KS pleasing anyone at all?

Surely you must have read posts on GN expressing praise and delight.

Still doesn’t alter the facts that Labour Together were fined over £14k for undeclared donations and later the Electoral Commission declared over £730,000 of donations were blamed on an “administration error”.

The whole thing reeks!

I quite like Suzanne Moores tweet on the matter.
'Everyone needs to calm down about Andy Burnham. Including Andy Burnham'

Thanks for this, raised a smile here.

I stopped buying the G when they kept and feted the awful Owen Jones but banished some good women

Which was paid in 2021, and is not a new revelation? Here is a Fact Check, which is somewhat more reliable.

I voted for Labour led by Keir Starmer. I’m sick of governments that change leader every five minutes. If people have a problem write to Keir. Write to your MP. In fact write to any MP and tell them what you think, where you think things could be improved, where things are going wrong.Instead of moaning on the internet and thinking that it’s ok to change leader every five minutes. Or that Reform* have the solution to everything.
*Did anyone see Tice ( who spends half his time in Dubai with his girlfriend who is criticising ID cards but is happy to live in a country that uses them) on Question Time last night. Audience ( Brexit voting area, too) made mincemeat of him. But the news media today still asked Reform about their opinion on just about everything.

Yes MayBee I saw Tice on QT. What a smug, rude, odious man he is. He interrupted Lisa Nandy every time she spoke - don’t know how she kept her cool with him.

The audience clearly weren’t buying his snake oil. But, I suppose some GN posters will do - hey ho🤷‍♀️

They smother themselves with the slimey stuff! Yuk!

Iam64 Sat 27-Sept-25 08:38:28

Thanks all, I missed QT but will watch on catch up.
I listen to Any Questions and it’s a relief to hear considered views, rather than simple angry rants

LizzieDrip Sat 27-Sept-25 08:41:37

Yes growstuff 🤮

Yesterday I heard two political comments that made me feel positive and reminded me about the good in the UK.

Firstly the PM, in his speech, when talking about the wonderful multi cultural nature of the UK said we celebrate “difference under the same flag” ✔️

Secondly, Billy Brag on QT said (I’m paraphrasing) the citizens of the UK will decide whether they are ones who stand with racists wanting to set fire to buildings with people in them, or they are the ones who come out the next day to clear up the mess.

He then said “I know which side I’m on”. Huge applause from QT audience. ✔️

I know firmly where I stand in relation to these statements. So, thank you KS and BB for reminding us that the folk of this country are good, decent, tolerant people who celebrate diversity.

Yes, I think KS will remain as PM and I believe, by the time of the next GE, the citizens of the UK will have seen Reform exactly for what it is … and will want none of its toxic snake oil.

Galaxy Sat 27-Sept-25 08:54:36

I am afraid that Billy Bragg is exactly what people are voting against.
Calling people gammon, cheering on Kneecap and calling women bigots. He stands for nothing I would want to follow.

Oreo Sat 27-Sept-25 09:18:14

Billy Bragg is an odious oddball.
I gave up on QT a while ago, it’s just a rent-a-rant and no more representative of the British people than the chat in your local pub.

Is this meant as some sort of curious put down? Everything on this forum is our own opinion, some may agree others will disagree.Don’t take every opinion that clashes with your own in a personal way.

What strange post. Typical of some, when others question their right to be always right. But let it stand. It demonstrates exactly that.

Galaxy Sat 27-Sept-25 10:26:24

It is because they have no answer. So I have just pointed out why some people would dislike Billy Bragg, it is a perfectly reasonable post. You may disagree with it of course. If you want people not to vote Reform there needs to be a viable alternative for people, personally I don't think what BB represents is it.

Hear, hear! 👏👏

Look at Bragg and other Champagne Socialists like Bob Geldof, Bono, Jo Brand, Steve Coogan, Grayson Perry and Eddie/Susie Izzard …. What an absolute shower of unfortunate lookers who love telling people much poorer than them who to support and donate to. They all speak with forked tongues.

Casdon Sat 27-Sept-25 17:20:00

There are no right wing comedians that I can think of. Can anybody else?

Galaxy Sat 27-Sept-25 17:41:05

Geoff Norcott I think. Not that well known.
I have a soft spot for Geldof from that list.
