Action Palestine don’t have more arrests because of violence. It has been declared an illegal/terrorist group that cannot gather on our streets so the police have to try to arrest everyone, which is such a wasted use of police time when those attending one of these demos are not violent or in any way terrorists.

I have my Plasticene Action T shirt ready for when I get to the UK on Wednesday. Such an overreach of terrorism laws. I would not have expected this kind of thing from a Labour Gov. I will vote Lib Dem next time.

Palestine Action should not have damaged MOD property. I don’t see what the government could have done, especially with all the two tier Keir accusations. I also don’t agree with the oil protesters defacing works of art. Even though I agree with both causes I would not take part in anything that causes criminal damage or support a group that does so.

It was a Reform appeasing overreaction. It was pathetic. I used to be really pro Israel, but not any more. They have become the prison guards. It's sad because the people I knew in Israel weren't like that at all. But the Brits used to be a lot better too.

'Concerns of the majority' are important, but in your view, and just for starters, what is the single main concern of the majority?

Maremia Sun 14-Sept-25 18:23:36

And let's be honest, who is easier to arrest? A 75 year old docile pensioner or a rabid, racist, ranting thug?

Emeraldforest Sun 14-Sept-25 18:24:39

It was horrible, I was in the counter march against racism. They trapped us between Trafalgar Square and the south of Whitehall for 3 hours when we were meant to be out of there by 4. The police eventually kept them back so we could make our way out of there.I don't think I could get to a toilet for 10 hours. TRs supporters style is to urinate in bottles and hurl them at non racists, well I guess they'd had plenty to drink.
It wasn't nice, or glorious or united, it was threatening and I resent how they've hijacked the flags for their extreme nationalist ends and it was cynical and calculating how they trapped us and 'occupied' Trafalgar Square. How dare they.
Their speakers...what a rag tag bunch of nasty people.Elon Musk, what a crazy piece of work.
None of us were rejoicing at the murder of Charlie Kirk, even if we disagreed with his views.Unlike the opposition we don't condone violence. I'd be doubtful if 2% of that crowd had ever been in a church, how dare they appropriate Christianity for themselves!
No it wasn't a nice day out, businesses were shutting up early, how terrifying for non whites.
They mustn't be allowed to win.

Sounds awful

But those urine tossing heroes were defending the integrity of our flag, weren't they? That's why they were there, because of our concerns, for a family fun day out.

Yeah, protecting are wommin eh?

Emeraldforest Sun 14-Sept-25 18:35:07

They were most certainly NOT all wearing masks or dressed in black! That was just a group of pro Palestinians. There was no trouble at all from any of the counter demonstrators who behaved with great self control when trapped between 2 groups for several hours.
The man who was photographed with a bloodied head was NOT injured by a counter demonstrator but as a result of his own altercation with the police.
I really take issue with anyone who is pointing any blame on the non racist group.

I must also point out that I would never take part in a protest organised by Tommy Robinson either.

QuoteEmeraldforest good to hear from someone on the ground. I can quite believe how feral and scary those thugs were as I grew up near Southend in Essex. I applaud our bravery in attending the counter demo. Of course some of our kindly old grans here will make passive aggressive remarks and downplay the violence because that suits their world view. We all know who they are now.

Are you implying that those thugs are from Essex…

“And it’s really scary that Sharia courts are allowed in England they should be banned!”

And this is the level of debate we have been reduced to. Open Islamophobia parading as justified indignation. The fact that most Muslims in this country have nothing whatsoever to do with Sharia law will obviously make no inroads.
And this will be the calibre of mist who are on this racist March.
Disgusting.

My daughter had two weddings: one a Sharia wedding in a mosque; the other was a civil wedding in a hotel.

Neither my daughter or her husband believe in any god.

The mosque wedding was to keep his parents and grandparents happy - as many people in the UK have had church weddings to please their relatives.

The wedding entailed going to a mosque, where the imam spoke to my daughter and her husband-to-be. There was no coercion to become a Muslim. The imam was aware that my son-in-law is not a practising Muslim. The imam spoke to my son-in-law about what was expected of a husband ie looking after his wife and protecting her. I expect it seems quite quaint and sexist, but nothing intimidating.

A document was then signed, involving all the males. My son-in-law promised to look after his wife. If he ever wants to divorce her, he has to pay my daughter's father £10. That's it! It can't be enforced in British law and, moreover, doesn't overwrite my daughter's rights. If they do want to divorce, my daughter can still go to a British court and argue her case for maintenance, just as everybody else can.

This whole Sharia Law trope is nonsense.

Sorry but if your daughter and son in law want to divorce he has to pay her father £10. i.e. she is her father’s property ?
She’s only worth £10 ? In this country, what a ridiculous way to behave

I am saying I met many of those type when I grew up near Southend. I also have met them in Luton and many other places. Are you implying they are not thugs?

It’s Medieval Doodle who would want to go along with it?

Why imply that thugs come from Southend? There can be thugs from anywhere at all.

But not an RAF one. What was the government to do? They couldn’t condone it. The press would have been down on them like a ton of bricks if they hadn’t taken the action they did. I don’t think I’ve ever known a government so hounded by the media. And people have forgotten how awful the previous government ( in all its incarnations ) was. And most of Reform MP’s and councillors are ex Conservatives. Blair’s government didn’t inherit the almighty mess that Truss et al left us with.

I think you are slurring a swathe of the population without any firm evidence.

I live not far from Southend, have you visited recently?

Do you still have contact with people that live there?

Yes it's about as ridiculous as the talk we had from a CofE vicar which we had to endure so we could get married in his church. All religion is nonsense and many people just play lip service to keep the old people happy and not rock the boat. Did you submit to your husband like I was told to by the CofE vicar because we ignored all his 'advice'?

I agree, rock and a hard place. Personally I would love them to start mandating plurality on the media and breaking up the media monopolies. And also making the media accountable for the lies they spread with no consequences.

Well hopefully Teazel anyone joining TR's march in the hope of solving the housing crisis will now understand and appreciate that the people they have joined forces with are more interested in burning down accommodation than building it.

I try really hard to not go back there after my dad died. I always found it pretty toxic apart from the Toulouse restaurant and the Cliff gay pub. The rest was just crap.

DollyRocker Sun 14-Sept-25 18:55:05

Two of my friends went to protest. There weren't 100,000 people there, it was more like 2 million. The MSM is feeding the sheep more bs and desperately trying to downplay it.
