Well what an address!
I agree with every word.
We have been warned, I just hope it’s not too late.

Leave it with me, if you'd be so kind. Obviously I have to be a little bit careful here.

Thanks

Why didn't he simply move over to the other escalator?

Why didn't he simply move over to the other escalator?

That's much too easy, Maremia.
And he couldn't make such a fuss, either.

report say the mic was shut off only ones very closed heard it

ronib Fri 26-Sept-25 05:58:49

President Erdogan also suffered a mic failure at the UN.

ronib Fri 26-Sept-25 06:03:46

Also Carney pm Canada and the Indonesian president had speeches interrupted by a mic malfunction when speaking.

Allsorts Fri 26-Sept-25 06:44:35

Just switch him off.

ronib Fri 26-Sept-25 06:49:39

Switch them all off? Useless Nations? Trump was right - what does the UN do?

Allsorts Fri 26-Sept-25 07:09:23

A fewer round here have children living in the USA, all have done extremely well, own business etc. They think Trump is fantastic. Our country going tontgecfactvtgeyvcantup, mtgsts their perception when visiting. Mention Trump, answer He sure gets things done, I was skating on thin ice when I mentioned about his spouting off, they said well he's a showman too. So whether we can't stand the nan we are stuck with him as they don't need us as we need them. They in the main want him.
Our successive governments have been a laughing stock on immigration, three appeals over 8 years at taxpayers expense, what a toothless exercise, money for lawyers.

Maremia Fri 26-Sept-25 07:46:51

He is a convicted fraudster and sex pest.
The 'I'm all right Jack' ethos seems to still be alive and kicking.
Increasing looks as if it was a Trump staffer who accidently caused the escalator to stop. Trumps' own team was in charge of the teleprompt.

foxie48 Fri 26-Sept-25 08:09:00

Of course there are Americans who think Trump is doing a great job. There are lots of people who don't care about the lives of others who are less fortunate. There are people who are homophobic, racist etc who don't care about the rights of others. There are the "I'm alright, Jack" people, fortunately I don't think they are the majority.
It's ironic that Trump garnered much of his support from those who felt left behind but they are not the people who are benefitting from his policies.

This may be of some help and point you in the direction of a human rights organisation which has documented these abuses.

My brain says what an idiot, but such a very very dangerous idiot. I feel very sorry for all the decent Americans who must cringe every time he opens his mouth. God alone knows where we’ll be at the end of his term.

ronib Fri 26-Sept-25 19:30:44

I have a feeling that America is going to be streets ahead by the end of Trump’s term. Lucky Americans.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 26-Sept-25 19:32:06

Streets ahead in the munchkin states!?

ronib Fri 26-Sept-25 19:42:25

Would you define a munchkin state?

Galaxy Fri 26-Sept-25 19:50:53

That article doesn't cover the issues you mentioned stripeygran.

Streets ahead of what? Personally, I can't see any way in which Trump s improving most Americans' lives. Maybe you could explain.

ronib Fri 26-Sept-25 20:35:33

Time will tell growstuff.

foxie48 Fri 26-Sept-25 20:45:16

And it might not, ronib so by what measures are you predicting that the lives of Americans will be improved?

growstuff Fri 26-Sept-25 20:46:36

ronib

Time will tell growstuff.

Maybe it will, but could you please explain what Trump is doing which makes you think as you do.

StripeyGran Fri 26-Sept-25 21:00:30

Galaxy

That article doesn't cover the issues you mentioned stripeygran.

No but it mentions an organisation which can.

Apparently my first hand anecdotes are insufficient.

As you wish.

ronib Fri 26-Sept-25 21:02:14

My impression is that Trump will turn the American economy around. I think his anti global warming policies plus drill baby drill will rebalance his economy. Unlike ours which is doomed, sadly.

foxie48 Fri 26-Sept-25 21:25:35

Well if it's a choice between destroying our planet or taking a cut in my standard of living, I'd go for the latter. I care about the world I'm leaving behind me, clearly others don't.
