I thought Ed Davey gave a very good speech at his conference btw.

..then he fell off the stage into a bucket of water.

Anecdotes aren't evidence

Male swans (cobs) can be extremely aggressive. They fight and damage each other, sometimes inflicting fatal wounds.
It is true that after the enlargement of the EU in the 90s, people from countries in Eastern Europe did kill swans and fish carp.
Why don't we eat either? Well, I've never eaten swan but I've heard that they are not delicious. Carp I have eaten in Germany, where it's a traditional dish at Michaelmas. It's a horrible fish, only palatable when drowned in a hot/sour sauce.
Actually there are far too many swans. They squeeze out smaller waterfowl except mallards. They should be culled.

Don't you think that making personal attacks is a sign of desperation? If they think this will lose support for Reform it shows how out of touch they are.
The truth of the matter is, that many British people are extremely worried about where our country is heading. Farage does not come across as a nice person (he supports hunting, which I abhor) but, right now, he's the only hope we have to bring us back from the brink of destruction.
As for the swans. I live near a canal and it is common knowledge that ducks, swans and geese are taken, presumably to be eaten. I myself have seen ducks eggs being taken from the nest by a non-white man.

😲

We could say the same about humans.
There's be more room for all kinds of animals.

He could have been a chimney sweep and covered in soot! grin

I don’t get the point you’re making about personal attacks being a sign of desperation mum2three. Personal attacks are the very bread and butter of everyday politics, watch PMQ any week you choose and there they are in their full glory, never mind at every party conference. Attack is seen as the best form of defence.

Danny Kruger? Yia Yousef? Both excellent.

Hahahaha. Funniest thing I’ve seen all weekend!

Well done Sir Ed Davey. I like to see politicians standing up for what they believe in, and it’s time Farage got it back.

Me too, that was a speech to stand alongside "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" - a shame it was at a Lib Dem conference , the media always has a patronising attitude to them - no matter that in the SW they are one of the 2 major parties for many, many years. And the SW rivals Wales in terms of population etc.

I did not say it was ok - I am simply pointing out the hypocrisy in suggesting the only people who allegedly poach animals are migrants. Poaching is nothing new and yes, it's wrong. The royals and aristocracy ate swans for hundreds of years. Farage and his cronies still support hunting foxes for 'sport', not food.

StoneofDestiny Sun 28-Sept-25 17:41:08

mum2three....and you formed that opinion after 14 years of Tory rule and their five Prime Ministers? Or you have just come to that conclusion of just over 1 year off labour in power?

Funny how so many of the failed Tories - Truss and Rees Mogg are joining Farage. Will that help Britain?

Many of us think Farage and his divisive politics is the worst thing to happen to Britain. He offers no solutions to anything, just blames everything on migrants. He doesn't even trouble to differentiate between legal and illegal migrants. He has expressed his intention to work for Trump and it didn't happen because he fell out with Musk! He has spent more time in the USA than in Parliament. Don't kid yourself he cares two jots about Britain - he is out for himself alone and if Trump offered him a job, he'd be out there in the red hat!

Both excellent at what?????

StoneofDestiny Sun 28-Sept-25 17:44:34

Where they an English non white man, or Welsh or Scottish non white man? Maybe they were an Irish non white man?

StoneofDestiny Sun 28-Sept-25 17:46:09

RSPCA where they confirm that they have investigated migrants killing and eating swans for 15-years

The RSPCA have investigated all sorts of animal abuse and killings for much more than that.

Maremia Sun 28-Sept-25 18:34:40

And as I have just posted on another thread, how patriotic is Farage? One of his ex-politicians has just plead guilty to taking Russian bribes.

Witzend Sun 28-Sept-25 18:50:18

To be entirely fair, there was a case around here not so long ago, of relatively new immigrants evidently thinking that ducks on a pond in a public park were there for the taking.
IIRC the offenders were charged with whatever offence it is.

Delene100 Sun 28-Sept-25 19:13:51

Why is my posts not on here?

GANNET Sun 28-Sept-25 19:53:00

Sadly this isn’t uncommon- having lived in Wolverhampton in the 70s I am afraid this definitely happens. Different cultures not understanding the rules and norms. Always remember too a holiday in Malta where songbirds were caught and eaten.

I think Billy Bragg showed just how ridiculous Farage is. Farage said he believed that Saria law was coming to Britian because he'd been told by a Muslim taxi driver. He was willing to believe this man but didn't believe the scientific establishment.

Bring back spitting image!

Bukkie

The asylum seekers are eating swans from the parks in Hull and fishing and eating the carp from the ponds.
Ed Davey is a complete buffoon with his stupid gimmicks and nonsense. Reform certainly isn't a one man party and virtually everyone I spoke to on a recent holiday had voted Reform in recent elections.

Well, I'll be sure to take your opinion/posts as gospel, Bukkie.

Please do.

Allira Sun 28-Sept-25 21:06:44

Who does that Allira, he’s just a comedian, surely nobody takes a comedian seriously? (Is that an oxymoron?)

Allira Sun 28-Sept-25 21:27:43

Well, that is my opinion too Casdon!

DaisyAnneReturns Sun 28-Sept-25 21:53:59

What did he say that wasn't true Allira? It's a genuine question. Those on Question Time seemed to accept it had been said. It's not as if it's the first time he's made a ridiculous statement.
