Technically Christianity is now a minority religion in the UK. I don’t quite understand your argument wwm2 about your GDIL. Lots of migrants have faced abuse for all sorts of reasons- even pale skinned people. The difference is that Jews were killed yesterday. As a society we need to stop and work out future preventative measures. It’s unacceptable as it stands.

My GDIL is not an immigrant, that is the sort of assumption that those directing hate at her are making.

I'm wondering why given the murders a jubilant march by pro Palestinians was allowed to take place later. Fanning the flames and terrifying the Jewish community further.

I think it was impromptu, no doubt organised over social media. Given it’s impossible to know in advance about impromptu events, I think it is wrong for the media to publicise them, as giving them air time is wrong and may spur others to copy.

It was not impromptu. It was a planned event to coincide with Yom Kippur apparently.

How does anybody know that for sure? Did the murderer leave a note?

The police have designated this as a terror attack and had done last evening when I made my comments so I certainly wasn’t rushing in to judge.He was a Muslim whose family fled Syria when he was a young child and settled here.
Yesterday’s disgusting attack was then built on by the Israel and Jew haters in this country who organised protests and drive by’s and over excited violence and loads were arrested by the police.

I have discovered that the father of the assassin is apparently a trauma surgeon working here. I don’t know if this is true but if it is, I wonder how his son became radicalised and if the government needs to rethink its approach? Clearly from an educated family and apparently working as a tutor in English and computing- just what happened to cause a young man to kill?

No idea, but if his father is a trauma surgeon and is the one on social media who is currently working in Sudan, maybe the son became traumatised by what he saw his father witnessing and treating. Maybe he blamed all Jews for what is happening in Gaza. Just speculation. Trying to find a reason, just like everybody else.

It's not just mad men who are critical of people who support Israel's actions. Hate mail is, in my opinion, never justified, although some free speech supporters would disagree.

Here in Spain the news is saying that the man shot was behind the door trying along with others to stop the perpetrator from entering the synagogue.

They are also reporting that one of the injured in hospital is also a victim of gunshot.

One doesn’t need to be Sherlock to see why the murderer chose yesterday as the date for his heinous act and whilst democracies must allow peaceful demonstrations there are limits when they glorify hatred and intimidate. It seems to me that demonstrations are often full of “virtue signallers”& exacerbate divisions in society. The glorification of terrorist acts is totally unacceptable and those responsible should face the full rigours of the law. However that doesn’t seem to happen in the UK and if it did perhaps we would see less of this vile behaviour on our streets.

I opened this thread because of the atrocity of yesterday and to express my sadness for the victims and all those affected. I made no political references.

I (sadly) knew that the thread would go off on a tangent, I was fairly sure who would take it off thread, and predicted much of their rhetoric.

I stand by my disgust of the perpetrator(s) of this despicable act, and my deep sadness towards not only those affected, but that this happened at all.

Today, I think of the irony - the whipping up of hatred and the instant communication of global news, the recruitment of like minded people to take part in various marches and rallies via social media platforms - invented by Jews.

Our ability to find the answer to almost anything. to research and learn via Goggle - thanks to it's Jewish founders.

This is the same man I found earlier. He is apparently currently working in Sudan and has worked in many war torn areas, according to his LinkedIn profile.
