Why would we ignore it, I hadn't heard about it, I did hear about the awful fatal stabbing of the young Ukrainian woman on a train in the US, like this awful, as it is for any innocent person whose life is taken from them irrespective of where they've come from.

I wonder why you didnt hear about it?

Honestly you sound so accusatory! Ireland is a separate country, sometimes there is more concentration on domestic issues. I can't tell you why this wasn't reported, I didn't see it in the ST today which is the only physical paper we take. Do you really think compassion for the victim any victim and disgust against the perpetrator in such a scenario is that selective??? As with any random killing, there are way too many, an absolute appalling tragedy.

This is a conversation that is being had in nearly every European country, saying but look at this over there isn't going to stop those conversations.

What do you know about the perpetrator, for example has this been confirmed as a hate crime? or is he, I imagine it is a he, one of those people looking for a fight in "who are you looking at?" Or hearing voices who haven't taken their medication, I'm not saying it is, but the latter is often a common scenario in such random murders.

Whilst I hadn't heard about the one in Ireland, I did however read as reported in most papers including the DM, about a similar stabbing of a 16 year old Syrian boy in Huddersfield who merely brushed by, unintentionally, some murderous thug's girlfriend. I would like to make it quite clear how appalling I found that, as I did with the woman working at the hotel murdered by the asylum seeker, the young Ukrainian woman murdered on the train in the US, whilst the passengers around just sat there and gawped. Unfortunately, the desire to trigger a person's murderous intent appears universal if that's a facet of their behaviour and the horror and revulsion for mindless killings isn't a selective thing. I don't know how clearer I can spell that out.

The difference being, the wanker outside McDonalds was given sanctuary in this country together with a roof over his head, food in his stomach, a dry bed to sleep in and a small amount of money.

Thank goodness the Home Secretary has at last brought out a sensible idea of those wanting to enter the UK must have an equivalent as an A level in English which is what I have been wanting to happen for a while
My daughter-in-law had to pass two tests in English before she’ was allowed a visa.
This could stop people like the one you mention about being able to remain in the UK.

There are two different things here tho Cath9.

Those rules are for those applying for visas to live and work in the country.

The rules are different for those accepted as rightly claiming asylum, they do not apply

And the person we are discussing as in the O/P has not been accepted for asylum, he is claiming it (but wont be given it under the rules of giving convicted criminals asylum)

I agree as regards visas and levels of English for those coming to work.

There have since been some follow ups on this awful story as highlighted that you highlighted, the assailant it is reported is originally from Somalia possibly not "the white youth that went towards him" in your post. Maybe there was some discrepancy in the facts as to why the story didn't appear as it happened. That person has been charged. As ever, irrespective of ethnicity, an absolute tragedy.

Why so aggressive?
I bet lots of us haven’t heard this, but we do hear about other attacks here when they happen, but not so much from Ireland.
I’ve never seen a man in the street with his pants down giving himself a hand job either, and I’ve lived in some rough areas.
Sounds like a MH problem, just what we need here! That’s the problem when the small boats land here with many undesirables on board.

There’s no bullying on here, or cliques either that I can see, just different opinions as always.
