Another stabbing by an immigrant. When do we wake up and smell the coffee?

I am so sad to read of yet another stabbing resulting in the death of an innocent 49 year old man.

How can our government standby and allow this to happen again and again?

I feel sad, frightened and in total disbelief that this is happening on such a regular basis.

There will be a revolution and God help all the politicians.

Make the asylum process easier to manage and process. Employ the skills needed and the technology required.
That way, the 'genuine' are settled, and the 'not genuine' are removed.
It will be worth the investment.

8,000 illegal immigrants have been discovered working illegally in this country. These are the highest levels ever. This has cost £5million and they suspect there are a lot more.

rafichagran Wed 29-Oct-25 11:20:21

Foxie I am so sorry about what happened to your daughter, I hope with time her confidence will come back soon.

Sueinkent Wed 29-Oct-25 11:46:50

Over 100,000 immigrants arrive legally and they should be welcome. It seems to me anyone who arrives illegally (about 40,000) should be put straight on a plane back to their home country. A person at risk will have their application granted legally.

Mass deportations, I am not a racist but the majority of these people do not and will not integrate, ever.

These people? Who exactly are these people? My son-in-law's parents were immigrants. I assume you'd deport them.

How about Rishi Sunak's or Zia Yusuf's parents? What about Kemi Badenoch? Or Danny Kruger's parents?

These people? Who exactly are these people? My son-in-law's parents were immigrants

Anecdotal?

We could all quote something similar.
We all know people who are immigrants and some are members of our families. I am fairly sure they will be legal immigrants, well-educated and hardworking, contributing positively to our society.

However, that is a diversion from the issue which faces us - that successive governments are failing to deal promptly and adequately with the numbers of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers arriving here by various means. Some are recruited by gangmasters and OC gangs.

It is a huge problem Europe-wide, no government seems to know how to sort this out and the public is becoming unhappy and restless, often stirred up more by politicians and by the Press.

That is the situation.

No amount of whataboutery and straw arguments can divert from this.

This man was not an asylum seeker. He had right to remain.

He was an asylum seeker, he arrived illegally in the back of a lorry and was then given right to remain.

He was not an asylum seeker when he committed murder sundowngirl, he had been one previously and was granted the right to remain in the UK. It is a different category of criminal.

*Doesn’t anyone think of 1939 and see any parallels?*

Yes - sadly, particularly when I see posts like Sago has put up.

Please explain further.

What exactly are you implying?

Maremia Wed 29-Oct-25 12:27:18

Foxie, have just caught up with your post. Was skimming earlier.
Just so sorry to read that.

Our only hope is reform doing really well in the next election.
They’ll 100% be getting my vote.

silverlining48 Wed 29-Oct-25 12:37:49

That would be many people’s idea of hell.
They will 100% not be getting my vote.

Bukkie Wed 29-Oct-25 13:06:10

Kandinsky - Reform will be 100% getting my vote, my husband's vote and both my sons will vote for them.

I think the story about the mosque Teazel2 was also misrepresented.
If it had said it was a men and boys race it wouldn't have been noticed.

sundowngirl Wed 29-Oct-25 13:29:10

100% votes from us for Reform too.

Of course it would. Whatever spin you put on it, the females were excluded as they frequently are

I think I've entered a parallel universe where crimes like this, sadly not unusual, are only given press interest when it's "an immigrant"

Working class people are more likely than higher social categories to be adversely affected by immigration . This is because immigration really does decrease the numbers of available working class jobs, Higher social classes are more likely to benefit from immigration because higher social classes are not disadvantaged by relative plenty of manual labour and can reap all the benefits with none of the disadvantages.

Not all immigrants are manual workers , and many are qualified professionals. Those are welcomed by most whatever their social class.

There is a vocal group who are blind especially to the talents and usefulness to society of Muslims and brown -skinned people generally. Those parblind ones are influenced by certain media and friends who read the same media. What powers the engine is confirmation bias.

sundowngirl Wed 29-Oct-25 14:05:03

It would be interesting to find out how many of the illegal immigrants are 'qualified professionals'. I doubt if many are or they would come through the legal routes

Sago Wed 29-Oct-25 15:51:33

It’s been reported today yet another illegal immigrant has been found guilty of stabbing a 37 year old Father of 3.

The victim was queueing in a bank.

The perpetrator was a 47 year old Somalian who was known to Police in four countries and had been arrested for violent disorder in the UK.

He had been refused asylum and was angry.

I think your last comment was a completely fair one, Monica

We really do, on this thread, have to dial down the racism and see people as individuals in human terms. some very bad, whatevcer the background" some truly good, trying toward to end divisions based on race, others indifferent:

some very well informed: some acting out of sheer prejudice by that

I mean tarring all immigrants with the same brush when they have no personal knowledge of an individual whatsoever, and ignorant of the complexity of it all

*Those who jump to conclusions on the basis of a name being obviously Muslim*

Well, yes and no.
In any case you surely mean ‘dial down the xenophobia’ not racism.
We have to acknowledge that different cultures and countries view crimes differently .Touching a woman and pestering her for sex will not be considered a crime in lots of countries.
Countries where women are viewed as very much lesser beings don’t even think much of rape and prefer to blame the woman.
Some cultures ( including Afghanistan) think nothing of whipping out a knife and using it on other men if they feel insulted or provoked .And so on and so forth.

An eye watering amount of money has/is being spent on a new system since 2021.
I know this because my daughter has been testing all the new tech that comes on stream.
AI is very much involved which causes its own problems because it’s becoming more and more advanced day by day meaning it has to fit with the new tech already installed.
If you think that a new site for one of the high street chains can take 6 months to develop and test, imagine what the HO Asylum seeker application looks like.

Of course we have no statistics to show stabbings by immigration status - is this any worse than born-here Brits?

Factors such as class, social standing, and socio-economic background are strongly correlated with violent crimes, (including knife crime) though.

Let's educate people and raise them out of poverty... that should help.

Simples

Have you got racism on the brain?

eazybee Wed 29-Oct-25 17:50:12

As usual, very little concern, if any, expressed for the victims of these senseless knife crimes, and as usual, politicians and the press held responsible for 'stirring it up.'

Maremia Wed 29-Oct-25 17:58:32

Of course there will be problems with new technology.
Of course it will be expensive.
Keep at it, and make it work.

I'm wondering why the failed migrant, refused asylum who went on to stab the man in bank queue in Derby, who he didn't know, was allowed back on the streets to commit that crimeshock I believe he'd been rejected by 4 other countries. before he came here.

Maremia Wed 29-Oct-25 18:21:50

Post on Facebook from The Times and the Sunday Times,
'Are immigrants more likely to commit crimes? Nigel Farage has his own figures and they are quite arresting. But his figures come from farely ropey Internet sources.'
