I'm wondering why the failed migrant, refused asylum who went on to stab the man in bank queue in Derby, who he didn't know, was allowed back on the streets to commit that crime I believe he'd been rejected by 4 other countries. before he came here.

I don't understand either why, having been refused asylum, this man was allowed to walk around our streets freely.

There must be good reason why the UK and four other countries refused him asylum. How was he free to go from country to country and not deported back to his home country?

Well it won't be as simple as do immigrants commit more crimes will it. My guess is that people coming to this country from France say might have a different offending profile of those from Afghanistan.
I don't think it is possible to theorise that men who commit crime are being influenced by say listening to andrew tate, but that men who have lived in cultures which treat women badly aren't influenced at all.

Again like Rhiannon he was a parent, his children left fatherless. Meanwhile the muderer, who naturally has a long sentence will cost the country a fortune being housed in one of our over crowded prisons.

Stopping small boats and lorries with migrants entering the UK is dependent on strong working relationships with Northern European countries, particularly with France. Reform have a combative relationship with those countries, which is not a recipe for working in partnership. Enforced returns are dependent on other countries too. Will they play ball? If they do, what will it cost? If they don’t, what happens next? I haven’t seen any detailed ideas from Reform, I think Farage knows they can’t deliver, so he won’t be staying around.

Over 100,000 immigrants arrive legally and they should be welcome. It seems to me anyone who arrives illegally (about 40,000) should be put straight on a plane back to their home country. A person at risk will have their application granted legally.

Sadly, it appears you don’t fully understand the asylum process actually works.

Under International Law anyone from any country can make an application for asylum in any country of their choice.

In order to make said application they have to physically be in the country in which they have chosen to seek asylum.

There are simply no simple easy routes for genuine asylum seekers to enter our country. Often they have no papers, no passports, not because they destroyed them, (though some do this), but because the dictators in their country of origin have confiscated them.

Yes great post. We do have criminals here already of course yet we are inviting in even more. This country will never be the great place I was once proud of.

I'm not even a Tory voter, let alone Reform, but I think the general public is becoming more and more concerned by the current situation with illegal immigration and the numbers of asylum seekers, which is more and more worrying.

To claim we are all anti-immigration, as some do, is just a spurious argument and totall untrue.

The situation will be much, much worse if France actually do nothing sundowngirl, they don’t have to assist the UK do they? It’s all down to goodwill and diplomacy, and if they choose to do so they can just lay down the drawbridge and stand back.

Your ‘ahead of the curve’ is what some would call ‘off the money’ FriedGreenTomatoes2, because your understanding of the need to put in a large number of laws and measures to actually make a difference to migration is apparently limited. There is no silver bullet, or quick solution to deal with longstanding, complex, world wide issues like this. We can’t go it alone.

It does seem to be a topic of conversation wherever we go now.
