The BBC. Bias is one thing. Lies and manipulation of facts entirely different.

Whereas, one can choose which newspaper one buys.
You can tell this ‘edit’ manipulation of what Trump said/HAMAS propaganda etc wasn’t done by GBNews!

Shocked?
I am.

That’s what I thought too Primrose53 wink

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 09:48:33

Patronising or what!

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 09:49:18

Interesting report in The Guardian online. Covers a lot of what has been discussed upthread.

*Wyllow3*. Good try at deflection. As usual.😉

I didn't read it as deflection but as making interesting and valid points.

Sorry can't be bothered to do silly little smiley wink face.

I'm certainly not a fan of Tim Davie and the BBC isn't the quality it used to be in some areas.
I can't condemn the whole organisation for some reports that have been shown to be untrue.
Those that don't trust the BBC can find news elsewhere or try, as I do, to see if it tallies with other news reports.

Grantanow Sat 08-Nov-25 09:57:48

I worry more about stories in some of the daily newspapers than I do about the BBC. It looks a bit like a Tory press campaign against the Beeb and that's nothing new. The BBC Charter is coming up for renewal and the anti-Beeb action usually starts ahead of that. Whatever it's faults the BBC is worth cherishing (along with the rather marginal Channel 4 News).

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 09:59:03

Thanks Wyllow, nearly missed your post.
Yes, GB News, beloved of many GNs.
Foxie, you nailed it when you said, don't rely on just one source.
Good that this Thread has been alerted to broadcasting bias by a variety of media outlets.

That was an attack on another poster.
I don't report but you need to know it's not on.

I hardly watch the BBC, haven't seen a thing on it about either the Darlington nurses case or the court case for the bottle return fiasco in Scotland. We get plenty of adverts for Strictly and Traitors but to me that's not news. They are also so biased, they sicken me. I do watch a variety of other sources and carefully fact check.

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 10:03:05

Agree with that AGAA4, was posting same time as you.
Now that is interesting Grantanow...about the timing.

I imagine the BBC commissioning editor and whoever signed off on the legal due diligence will be having a busy weekend.

Are you serious?
Why don’t you google this matter and you’ll see what comes up about it!
It’s nothing to do with the Tories.

Wyllow3 Sat 08-Nov-25 10:05:32

Its so petty, AGAA4, faced with the horrifying actuality of the report!

What I suggest, Primrose, is that you read the report and if you would care to comment on the long list of anti-muslim denials anything - you think is exaggerated, or untrue, please.

We cannot possibly only examine the BBC just because the O/P wanted to have a go at it specifically

Any look at one part of the media has to look at the climate of the media as a whole we are operating in

Wyllow3 Sat 08-Nov-25 10:07:55

correct, should read *Anti-Muslim details.

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 10:08:22

May I commend that any Poster ,who is dubious about Tory interference, have a read at this morning's The Guardian online.

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 10:09:27

Yes Wyllow, and it is the GN way to expand the discussion as we wish.

Galaxy Sat 08-Nov-25 10:10:20

The people I can see raising the most concerns about the BBC are left wing feminists, now my social media feeds will be weighted towards that group, but under no circumstances are they Tories.

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 10:11:01

As I have said on another Thread, the OP is an invitation not a command.

Oreo Sat 08-Nov-25 10:11:10

Forget the OP for heaven’s sake, this matter with the BBC is very important
The letter of condemnation was from the ethics and standards whistleblower and needs addressing PDQ.
Nobody expects GB News to have the standards that the BBC does and neither do we pay a hefty amount for GB News every year.
The BBC used to be a watchword for fair, true and ethical reporting and obvs no longer can be regarded that way.

AGAA4 Sat 08-Nov-25 10:12:22

Very interesting Grantanow.

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 10:12:28

Is that because of the 'gender' issues?

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 10:13:26

That was to Galaxy

Galaxy Sat 08-Nov-25 10:14:41

Yes. That was to Maremia🙂

Oreo Sat 08-Nov-25 10:16:33

Am very sure that the posters dismissing this matter would sing a different tune if the deception and bias was about a politician they liked, was bias against Palestinians and something they cared more about than trans concerns.
Put aside the subject matter and think about what’s important…
Truth and fairness in reporting.

Maremia Sat 08-Nov-25 10:16:47

Thank you. That issue has been divisive in the most unexpected ways.
