I just knew that the pro Palestinians would cause trouble at Aston Villa Park tonight! No Tel Aviv fans here just the team playing a match.Just hope the police can contain them, it looks a real shambles at the moment. Why didn’t the police throw a wide cordon around the ground so that the Villa fans can get in?The pro Palestinian mob is right next to the ground itself.

reasonable people is the important phrase here.

In my opinion that post should be reinstated.

I am dismayed at some of the racist overtones to the comments about Birmingham. Birmingham is a lively, diverse and welcoming city

Darn. Missed the post.

Who is Oliver Brown?

Maremia Fri 07-Nov-25 10:36:55

So, I take it that the pro Israeli people were standing quietly and not shrieking and yelling?

Maremia Fri 07-Nov-25 10:37:28

And yet, it has been reported that there were arrests on both sides?

bmacca Fri 07-Nov-25 10:41:47

I heard shouting from both groups. Both groups shouted insults at the others. The arrests I saw were from both groups and appeared to be for things that were said but I obviously don’t know the details of exactly what was said

Maremia Fri 07-Nov-25 10:46:41

Thank you bmacca. Glad you kept safe.

bmacca Fri 07-Nov-25 10:54:45

Thanks Maremia. It was a bit of a strange night for sure

Wyllow3 Fri 07-Nov-25 10:55:31

Good to have reporting for us first hand, thank you!

Thank you bmacca it's good to see a post from someone who was actually there especially with such an inflammatory thread title; shrieking and yelling hmm.

Just true, not inflammatory.
Didn’t you hear the racket coming from the crowds waving Palestine flags around 6:30 onwards on tv?
Politics has no place in sport! The Tel Aviv players have nothing to do with either the Israeli government or their army.
Calling them ‘killers’ is both untrue and pathetic.

The marches and protests have done untold harm to race/religion matters in this country. To both Jews and Muslims.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 07-Nov-25 11:33:15

Oreo I saw the news item

I agree that politics has no place in sport.

Maremia Fri 07-Nov-25 11:34:24

Sorry Oreo, but those supporters were banned because of their own actual behaviour while at away games, as reported by the relevant police authorities.

Maremia Fri 07-Nov-25 11:35:58

Wasn't there a report that they were also banned from a derby in Israel.
Sure I read that somewhere.
Now, if that was the case it cannot be antisemitic?

Oreo Fri 07-Nov-25 11:36:38

Babs03

Correction - I stand by my assertion.

Just as long as you don’t write it on here again.

I wasn’t talking of the supporters but the football team who are professional soccer players.

You’re mixing up two things here.
The fans didn’t come from Israel to this match.A few Jewish supporters came from London, and maybe elsewhere and at least one Villa fan wore both the Villa scarf and the Tel Aviv one in solidarity.
The pro Palestinian crowd were yelling at the team as they were furious the match went ahead.

Oreo Fri 07-Nov-25 11:42:40

That’s over now, but the divisive hate marches go on and on and on.

Oreo Fri 07-Nov-25 11:44:49

Tbh I think they won’t even stop as the peace deal progresses through the different stages and even as Gaza is being rebuilt.

Maremia Fri 07-Nov-25 11:46:48

In your own words Oreo, but only if you wish, how would you describe the actions of the people who came to support the Tel Aviv team?
We can all see how you described the pro Palestinia protesters.

I am Birmingham born and bred and am still here. I love my city and its people. Yes there are some awful areas as well as some affluent ones, like most cities I imagine.

The city centre around the canal area is beautiful. Villa Park is in a rather rundown area. Most people living there just want a quiet life. I would be willing to bet that half of those demonstrators were rent a mob.

Maremia Fri 07-Nov-25 11:59:55

Were your nephews okay at the match?
