The Guardian is run by The Scot Trust Ltd- the sole shareholder of Guardian media company. It does not pay out to shareholders therefore reinvests any profits into sustaining its financial and editorial independence and protecting it from commercial or political interference. Similar to the Independent Newspaper.
Many of the others are part of large media groups with different ownership structures, e.g. Rupert Murdoch News corporation etc. These are more profit driven and editorially more politically influenced.
