Women have proved time and time again that they can fulfil professional roles just as well as men can. For generations women have managed to excel at traditionally male jobs when they have won the opportunity.

What the far right in the USA want to see is the return of male supremacy and gender stereotyping with a one size fits all approach. Not all men want to be macho alpha-males and not all women want to be stay at home homemakers.

All this would mean a return of positive discrimination in favour of males in the workplace so they could stop howling about positive discrimination in favour of any other group.

Women would be expected to take on the traditional female role whether or not it was what they wanted or if it suited their character and circumstances.

It has been difficult for women to climb the greasy pole and progress has been slow. What these right wingers in the USA want to do is to take the pole away completely. I blame Trump and co. for most of this.

They want us to be 'surrendered wives', and some women in the States are going along with this coercion.

WWM2- a logical follow on from Trump's extreme right wing ideology and antipathy to all DEI hard won rights and legal protections. In reality a white, male, none liberal, autocratic society, with power over the judiciary, military etc is the end goal. Perish the thought it's promoted by Conservative or Reform Parties ( ie where Trump treads Farage often seeks to copy/follow...).

Just a lot of waffle and wishful thinking. If they really knew what they were talking about they would have the evidence at their finger tips, stats, peer reviewed research with the research framework spelt out, undertaken at top universities by respected aacademics.

Project 25 has a lot to answer for. At the time that Trump was standing for election, there were warnings about the impact upon women and many poopoohed it. Sadly much of it has come to fruition or is actively being considered. Farage and Reform are on his coattails too

I haven't researched it yet. But I saw a headline that Heritage has released Project 2026 recently.

It's so sad, too. I recall so much in the Womens Movement in the 1970's most of us were not anti men but wanting the take the men we knew on the journey where men are able to be carers and be able to express difficult or vunerable emotions, and women to be strong and protective where it fitted the character and preferences of that individual women.

Its so sad that even before these new "conservative" ideas, for example, came along, that the rates of suicide are highest in young men in the UK as they have been unable to ask for help and "share".

Just as we are travelling the road challenging male abuse (As in many men fear loss of power and control and act these out coercively or violently)....the counter attack begins.

It is a challenge for many men still, the sense of loss of what they "thought themselves to be" but we've been gradually redefining and nibbling away at these insecurities in men and many young and not so young women have been coming forward into the lives we imagined in the 1970's.

Equal, but different.

This is worrying. After all Nazi propaganda said a woman's place was in the Kitchen, looking after children, and going to church! Nothing wrong with any of these activities, until like dictators you forbid or make it hard for women to do anything else.

Unfortunately, a reaction has set in against the freedom western women have increasingly enjoyed since the suffragists first demanded the vote for women, and before that some brave women demanded the right to study at universities.

Some men have always opposed women taking on typical male professions or work, some haven't. And to be honest, some women are not happy with male nurses, midwives or carers for the elderly, and the great number of cases of child abuse to have become public knowledge within the last twenty years or so, have led some women on this and other fora to say that men should not be looking after small children!

All we can do, is to continue to maintain that everyone, irrespective of the sex they were born with, or the gender they have chosen to assume , should have the right to chose their own education and line of work.

I have to say the most women police officers are totally useless when it comes to policing the streets.

Conservative Party had the first woman PM, now on the third. Labour yet to recognise a suitable woman.
Oh and to be fair, I have heard somewhere that labour has the first female chancellor.

Women can always provide the rolls provided by men, but the men of the west have become too soft. Too feminine. They do need their traditional rolls back.

I used to comment on 'Conservative Home' but I think they cottoned on to the fact that a member of the Labour Party. Anyway, it's worth reading just to see what people are thinking. Sadly, I think there's a nasty backlash against both women's rights and climate change concerns and both seem to me to be existential threats. I couldn't ever go back to the days of needing a mans permission to have a mortgage or, indeed, a hysterectomy if I needed one. We're experiencing a horrific attack on our reproductive and economic rights at the moment and I think many young people take these hard won rights for granted and can't imagine returning to the levels of (benevolent?) patriarchy we have seen in our younger days.
