The U.K. has the third largest level of on line child sexual abuse in the world

In actual time, these abusers have the ability to direct and watch appalling sexual abuse being done to pre-pubescent children throughout the world. I will not go into details, but it is as bad as it gets.

Nothing at present is being done to stop this.

Government authorities must be held to account to stop this,

Thanks galaxy- I googled that and 27 January BBC news article came up. He was jailed for 8 years with a suspension term. He will be on the child sex register and his online activity monitored. If he downloads any more images he will be sent to prison for the full 8 year prison term with a possible extension. The BBC reported he was sentenced for downloading images and sharing his fantasies on line with others The BBC didn’t report that the prosecution planned to appeal however. Absolutely if you feel the 8 year prison sentence suspended was too lenient for his crimes lobby your MP.

This is rubbish however bad it is in the UK it’s far worse in developing countries but there is so much corruption it gets covered up
The police in the UK know pretty much what’s going on, given more resources the SS and police could do a lot more but they haven’t so they can’t

If it’s true that devices can be designed so sexual content involving children can’t be created or transmitted at all, without tracking users, how does ‘nothing can be done’ still hold?

And separately, why does abuse being worse elsewhere reduce our responsibility to act here?”

Galaxy Thu 29-Jan-26 20:15:24

Well yes of course I believe it is an inappropriate sentence as would anyone with any form if morality and sanity.

Galaxy Thu 29-Jan-26 20:15:44

Of.

I’m in support of the suggestion it can’t be beyond big tech to identify sites sharing indecent images or child sexual abuse and exploitation..

I’ll ask my usual question, in the hope that someone might respond. Why are so many men (and it usually is men) sexually attracted to babies, infants, primary school age children and young adolescents.

Years ago, I heard about a challenge to fb, who said that Thai women are known to be petite, and it is hard to tell if they are grown women or just children.

In the UK, our alcohol laws allow for refusal just on the age you look, so why can this not apply?

Witzend Mon 02-Feb-26 19:24:20

fancythat, I do know of someone who was found to possess a lot of online images of child abuse ( largely Filipino children) and IIRC was found to have solicited videos of children being physically, as well as sexually, abused.

He was jailed for 11 years.

Why cannot we in this technological age, close these sites. I think people who do this will never change their minds and are wired differently. They are worst the worst of human beings and society would be better off without the lot of them.

The UK has imposed an 18yr age limit on viewing porn which is a step in the right direction, we cant control what other countries allow, our government could if it wanted to ban all porn online. Yes, some would try to find ways to circumvent the restrictions but 95%+ would be stopped.

That will be vehemently opposed by the freedom of information lobby it should be done but is not on the agenda today.

Maremia Wed 04-Feb-26 11:14:15

Good to hear that, but this government must keep taking these steps.
If technology can churn out this 'trash', then technology can also clean it up.

I am in complete agreement with you. It’s a terrible state of affairs that children are not protected!
The abuse of children seems to be getting so much worse.
When and how and by whom can we count on to end these horrible crimes. I despair.

I don’t suppose it’s any worse than it ever was, just more easily accessible because of the internet. If I understand correctly, most child abuse still takes place within families.

Could it be something to do with men's need for power?

Labradora Wed 04-Feb-26 16:30:09

This stuff really is horrendous beyond belief. Between that and people paying to view the torturing of monkeys on line, I think we can only conclude something has gone seriously wrong with the human race.
How do we fix it ?
God only knows.

Iam64 Wed 04-Feb-26 17:25:39

Thanks for making a suggestion yogitree

Maremia Wed 04-Feb-26 19:10:08

It is very difficult to answer your valid question Iam64, because normal people can't understand what the compulsion is.

Iam64 Wed 04-Feb-26 20:48:21

Thanks Meremia. There seem to be a very large number of men who are sexually attracted to babies, infants, prepubescent children. The French case where the husband drugged his wife and invited other men to have sex with her when she was senseless, couldn’t react or participate due to drugs hughlited Sleeping Beauty syndrome. Since then, other cases including in the uk have been prosecuted

Listening to news reports on radio four today, made reference to the professional, seemingly respectable businessmen who attended Epstein’s parties. Evidently tapes record these men making derogatory comments about women

Depressing isn’t it

I sadly knew two men who have been done for watching child pornography. One was sentenced to 8 months in prison in 2002, but another, more serious one had thousands of images on computers and mobile phones and was also a predator. He got 16 years and before his arrest, was a popular local pub landlord.

Iam64 Sun 15-Feb-26 19:01:59

Cumbrianmale. Please use another word than child pornography. Images of children being sexually abused might work
Adults I’ve known who were filmed being sexually abused Sind ‘child pornography’ unacceptable. It could indicate ‘willing” participation

Sorry, whatever you call it, it's sick and evil and the people that watch and make money from this vileness should get long prison sentences. Child abuse is evil and I'm sorry I should have used a different term.

Iam64 Sun 15-Feb-26 20:22:25

Don’t worry, language changes all the time, it can be hard to keep up. You’re spot on, child abuse is evil
