Can’t stand the thought of.

Fallingstar Tue 17-Feb-26 12:35:30

Oh my. I mean, oh dear.
Are Reform trying to scupper their chances, even Tories couldn’t stand the man, he is a snake in the grass and a man after his own ends intent upon stabbing anyone in the back given the chance.
I really don’t think the majority of Reform voters will like him for this either. Unless they aren’t too fussed who does the job.

No one is too fussed who does this job looking at the present incumbent

Are Reform trying to scupper their chances?

I genuinely think this is all part of Farage’s plan to blow up the party and walk away. He's bored now.

Putting up the obnoxious Goodwin for Gorton & Denton. Sending Tice onto LBC to say they will reduce wages for young people. Braverman saying she will scrap the Equality Act - which among other things protects women’s maternity rights. How does that tie in with wanting women to have more children?

For all his noise, Farage doesn’t want to be Prime Minister. He said something today about .. if he falls under a bus (form an orderly queue to drive it please).

Restore will attract the hardcore racists and split the far-right vote.

Reform are 3 points down in the polls this week. 76% of people don’t want them.

The tide is turning.

I spoke to someone who worked with him and he said he never wanted to be PM. He just enjoys the power he seems to have over people and the thrill of the chase.

Well you could say that but why keep lowering bar.

Fallingstar Tue 17-Feb-26 13:06:40

Farage is no grafter, he has ducked out of taking on a leading role before, he is a publicity hound who loves the chase and all the attendant hoohah but does not want a bar of actually doing a full days work as PM.

Nobody really knew who she was before the election though. Everybody knows who Jenrick is, and who Braverman is.

Heaven help us. A man happy to move the goalposts for mates where money is concerned. What can possibly go wrong?

ronib Tue 17-Feb-26 13:06:54

What bar? fallingstar

I suspect you are being disingenuous, so am happy to let you figure that one out ronib.

Oreo Tue 17-Feb-26 13:10:50

When it comes to it, every politician wants to be PM.

ronib Tue 17-Feb-26 13:18:57

Actually I am not disingenuous at all just realistic. fallingstar.

And, of course, Suella Braverman for education and equality!

This is the woman who said “homelessness is a lifestyle choice” and recently:

“Suella Braverman talking to Jeremy Kyle said "The working class has had it too good for too long. Leaving the ECHR will allow us to prioritise bosses over their workers."

A press conference to announce who Farage currently proposes for these cabinet positions IF successful in a GE in 3-5 years- ok.

Anything can happen to Farage or these individuals in 3 plus years- fall outs, defections, convictions for taking bribes from the Russians - all of which Farage has recent experience. He's just trying to get away from the public (and often Reform party member) impression that Reform is a one man band imho.

Currently Reform UK only has 8 MPs, Farage and his colleagues do not have great attendance and make little impact in the H0C, and Reform is falling in the polls. Local Reform run councils are falling out with each other and not faring well either. Thats the main story.

LemonJam Tue 17-Feb-26 13:31:23

GE nearly 3.5 years away...

Graphite Tue 17-Feb-26 13:34:38

I believe that, Maybee.

He doesn’t do the job he is paid to do now, too busy showboating, holding press conferences and tent rallies and doing his myriad other lucrative side hustles.

His raison d’ĂȘtre had always been to disrupt and offend. We know that this behaviour goes right back to his school days. What his teachers and fellow pupils saw then is what we see now. The media loves to encourage his behaviour. It’s lucrative for them too.

The chaos we are seeing in local government where Reform has control is a rehearsal for what we would see in Westminster from a bunch of failed Tories and unelected officials. Yusuf in charge of home affairs? Really? A man who Farage wrong foots at every opportunity. Yusuf is a fool there only because he has deep pockets and could pay off some of the company’s debt to Tice. And fodder for BBCQT.

I see Farage has been apeing his White House idol again by insulting a female journalist from the FT.

As for a shadow cabinet - has Farage seen this from Anderson?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 17-Feb-26 13:38:56

I am being a bit lazy really, as I could find out for myself, but does anyone know how “Reform” works?

It isn’t a political party in the traditional sense, so what are the processes for picking candidates, leaders, policy and funding?

I feel decidedly nervous at a leader who seems to have no process to get rid of him.

Lovetopaint037 Tue 17-Feb-26 14:01:36

Thank goodness for all the input. I was so upset when I read the headline for the reasons you have posted. Having seen people sleepwalking into Brexit and the country following the Mail instead of thinking for themselves I fear for the same thing happening at an election but the result would be even more catastrophic. The fact that Jenrick is even considered shows the chaos Reform is in.

AGAA4 Tue 17-Feb-26 14:29:35

Does Farage actually do any work? He loves media attention and would make a great ringmaster at the circus but leading a political party and heaven forfend the country is too much toil for him.

When it comes to it, every politician wants to be PM.

Actually I don’t think they do. Many MPs from all political parties are quite happy to be supporting players.

Farage certainly doesn’t want the top job, far too much like hard work, he simply wants the perceived power and supposed kudos which he thinks goes with top place.

I think he is simply a grifter and game player and he certainly doesn’t need the cash.

As for Rachel Reeves, whilst she not my favourite MP, is certainly no worse than some of her Tory predecessors.

Let’s be really honest here, Rwform and Farage are a “big noise”, UKIP were a big noise, does anyone truly believe Reform will genuinely get the 326 MPs it requires to have a majority govt? Heaven help us all if they do, their councillors have hardly covered themselves glory.

I get many of you loathe Labour and many Labour supporters are disappointed with some performances thus far, but it will take at least one term to undo or put right 14 years of Tory rule.

Farage has shades of Oswald Mosely about him, but is more charming and less scary, I don’t think he’s in it for the long game, of course this is only my personal opinion and time will tell

I couldn’t agree more! Though I’d see him in a different role in a circus!

Ah, Mr Anderson, the ever erudite and professional correspondent.
In this parallel universe, with Ms Braverman and Mr Jenrick in position, perhaps we could consider Mr Anderson as a candidate for Foreign Secretary.
I'm sure that he would be splendid at representing us abroad..not.
