Mr Trump Can't Shut This War Down........

.......even if he wants to because he's lost control of Netanyahu.

The Israeli military is going berserk with the full blessing of Netanyahu. The US giving him support was a disastrous mis-calculation and now Israel seemingly doesn't need Trump anymore.

If he thought he would have the Iran business done and dusted in about a week, and he would come out of it as King of the World........well, his biggest mistake (among many) so far.

Maremia 11.01 "Some devious 'mind games' on here this morning. Why would Iran waste its seriously repleted arsenal by bombing London?

Some devious 'mind games' on here this morning.
Why would Iran waste its seriously repleted arsenal by bombing London?

This information about missiles reaching London was started by the IDF.
Need to take into account the source. Not known for accuracy.

Allira Sun 22-Mar-26 11:19:09

And what about Kent?

confused what about Kent?

fancythat Sun 22-Mar-26 11:16:53

Also, Iran is a very large country and we have no idea where their missiles are sited in relation to the UK.

Another good point.

And they could use another country to use them??

All too near to worry about 200km or something.
And what about Kent?

fancythat Sun 22-Mar-26 11:15:29

Of course, I doubt if anyone really knows what Iran actually has in the ay of long range missiles.

Quite.

ronib Sun 22-Mar-26 11:10:55

The UK does not have a ballistic missile defence system.
Iran clearly is trying to stop the USA from using British bases. It’s a war.

NATO would be drawn into the war.
Who would benefit from that?
Trumps want it.
Israel needs it.
The Regime is evil, but it is not stupid.

Everyone but everyone knows that the Uk no longer has a siren alert system. It’s now mobile phone based according to the government’s own website. Allira

So have I MaizieD but my DH is entirely accurate.

Would your DH be annoyed if he thought you were posting such information on social media?

I won't tell as I assume I'm still subject to the OSA even though I am retired.

LemonJam Sun 22-Mar-26 10:49:35

The UK Emergency Alerts system will only function on compatible devices ( e.g iPhones connected to 4G or 5G networks. Alerts will not be received if the phone is switched off, in airplane mode, connected only to 2G/3G or via wi fi.

LemonJam Sun 22-Mar-26 10:45:52

ronib 9.52: "DH thinks the Uk has closed down its early warning systems…. And it’s expensive to restore".

ronib 10.15: "AI - there is no public siren warning system in place for nuclear attacks".

DH thinks wrongly. The UK has modernised its Early Warning Systems; the government launched a nationwide Emergency Alerts system in 2023 for severe weather and life threatening emergencies. Regular tests are conducted- last one on 7 September 2025 to ensure its effectiveness. On 24 February 2024 the system's first non test alert was sent to residents of Plymouth, ordering partial evacuation after the discovery of a live WW2 era German munition in a back garden.

It can and would be used during a war, to warn the public of immediate life threatening dangers, such as nuclear attacks, any other attacks or bombings.

The Cyber Security Service, NCSC is also upgrading its Early Warning service for online threats.

Nothing is infallible Allira I do not get a phone signal when I am on my favourite sofa in the sitting room, or in the laundry.

DH same network provider and with an earlier generation iPhone has a signal wherever he is in the house or garden.

^We really don't know how far Iran have got with their intercontinental missiles.^

Precisely. We don't know.

Do you think it might be in the interests of Israel to suck us into their war by hinting at the possibility of Iran attacking the UK ?

Yes, that was my first thought. It is in their interest to do so. Specifically in Netanyahu's interest. If he's unseated, things will not go well for him.

This is not to dismiss the threat from a repressive and brutal regime towards the Jewish people, and its own citizens. But cool heads are needed and I believe both BN and DT are too immersed in their own agendas (as is the said regime) and cannot be trusted to make objective or rational decisions. It wasn't that long ago that DT said the threat from Iran he been, basically, eliminated - now suddenly, it's imminent, so it is quite credible to question anything he says and does.

It’s all on the internet - so much for the Official Secrets Act.
Mobile phones will be used to alert the population in times of an emergency.GG13 Best keep it charged…

ronib not yet being in my dotage, I am aware of the mobile networks warning system, and even know how to disable it.

Personally I wouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet, Operation Mincemeat…

It's not infallible either. When there was a test run, alarm sounded on the phones of most family members except for DGD's and mine. Hers is a different make, model and much more up-to-date than mine too. We hadn't disabled it.

Iran will possess nuclear weapons in the future. Knowledge can’t be bombed away. Trump is doing his best to stop a nuclear Iran but he won’t be around for long.

Maremia Sun 22-Mar-26 10:35:17

The IDF has said that Iran has the capability of hitting the UK?
Hands up, whoever trusts the IDF.

Iran's nuclear capability was completely destroyed during the Summer War.

Actually neither they nor I can confirm or deny as we signed the Official Secrets Act many moons ago 🤫
