Thankyou for the beautiful Rumi poem, Wyllow.

Wyllow3 Tue 07-Apr-26 22:13:31

He wrote so many, Delia. comforting and so wise. I just wanted to show people part of the richness of another culture that crass Trump has no sense of, although I am sure many US citizens are distressed beyond measure what is being done "in their name".

Newsnight is showing me footage of Iranian civilians forming human rings around crucial infrastructure. The overwhelming majority are women. 🥺

One was a little girl, reaching up trying to hold the flag.

AGA4
I used to have UTIs a lot. An NHS doctor advised me to take D-Manoose, unfortunately not available on the NHS. Took it only once about 12 years ago and have never had an infection since.

Would thoroughly recommend Joanna Lumley’s series of a few years ago about the Silk Road. Possibly sounds a bit frothy on the face of it, but it really wasn’t.
She was lucky enough to travel through various ME nations that are now pretty much impossible to visit, including Iran.
All of them just beautiful. The landscapes, the ancient culture, food, art and poetry but above all the wonderful, warm people.
Thinking of those people tonight.

What Trump is threatening Iran with is illegal as it involves the deliberate destruction of innocent civilians so would be classed as genocide . Therefore, am I right in thinking that the military could , in view of this , refuse to carry out his orders?

Delila Tue 07-Apr-26 23:26:48

Just reading that the forming of human shields to protect national assets is being directed by the regime in Iran, and is criticised by organisations like Amnesty International.

Those poor people stuck in the middle, as usual.

He is not fit for the office of President! Vance is just evil. Israel are pulling the strings ! I think this is all a deflection from the Epstein Files as Trump is up to his neck in it! It's all horrendous and Trump, Putin, Kim Jung and Netanayhu are all evil human beings.

I think this is all a deflection from the Epstein Files...

I believe so, too.

When the subject is raised, he adopts a sort of nonchalant attitude as he dismisses the matter as if everyone's moved on from it, and always adds the rider - very casually - Of-course, I've-been-completely-cleared-of-any-crimes, even though no-one at that moment has suggested otherwise.

I am not convinced. But MAGA bretheren are and even if not convinced, 'could not care less' as one enthusiast put it. Another opined, "does it really matter?". As so many documents are heavily redacted, we are unlikely to find out. However, there is an underbelly of enraged Americans who are littering social media sites with accusations after having pulled the remaining documents from the Court - some are even tearful because they believe that very young children were being abused by both Epstein and Trump - but one has to be careful not to wander into conspiracy theory territory. Let's just say, I don't believe he's as innocent as he wants people to believe.

Cranberry Extract Tablets. Brilliant!! I havn't had cystitis once since I started taking them several years ago. Quite cheap to buy from Boots. Worth a try. Hope you feel better soon, it's miserable I know.

Why are we discussing UTIs?

Trump is a UTI

We shouldn’t be surprised by how religious extremists can commit atrocities in the name of religion. In this respect neither Netanyahu or Trump are any better than the Iranian regime

They are all extremists. The value of human life is so low to them that they feel they can extinguish lives with impunity.
Let’s not forget the genocide in Gaza by Netanyahu, the Iranian suppression and murder of their own people, and Trumps foul lust for war across the globe and in the US in his pursuit of wealth and power (because more money is more power in Trumps twisted mind).

Non of you realise what Trump is doing. This is long and most of you won’t watch it but it explains a lot, I’m not saying it’s good or bad but it’s true

Have you seen the Persians out on the streets of Iran and London and American celebrating and thanking Trump or are you blinkered.

Celebrating the truce - yes. Relief- yes. Thanking Trump? No.

Are you Karoline Leavitt by any chance?!

Menopauselbitch do not call Iranians Persians. All Persians are Iranian, but not all Iranians are Persian, they make up only 50–65% of the population.

I can't imagine why anyone would be out celebrating Trump's disastrous war in Iran. The vile regime pre the war has been replaced with one that is more hard line. Thousands of people have been killed or wounded. Many people have lost their homes and employment. Basic infrastructure has been wiped out and the Iran regime now knows that they can hold the world to ransom by closing the Strait of Hormuz. The citizens of Iran are even further away from securing regime change than they were before Trump and Netanyahu started this war and their country is in a greater mess without the regime being brought to the negotiation table willing to give up anything at all. Their position has been strengthened because they have shown their citizens that they can withstand the might of the US and still inflict damage.

Agreed, America had lost a lot under Trump even before this latest war,it's going to take a long time before anyone trusts America again even with a different president.

There was never going to be a Quick Victory - a 'lightning strike' that would result in immediate regime disintegration.

It was delusional to think/believe that 'the people' would undertake a mass uprising to topple their government. With what - flippin' banners on sticks? Thousands had already been slaughtered for taking to the streets, they were going to do this - with bombs raining down on them?

This war was started by two angry old men who have few years left to live and who must remain in power to avoid being dragged through the Courts. They will do absolutely anything to avoid that.

The regime and the nuclear threat is a problem, not just for the USA and Israel, but all of us. Dealing with this requires cool, intelligent, educated heads with input from those military heads with decades of experience in conflict in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan' and scholars who understand the mindset and capabilities of those they plan to engage in war with. And allies - allies who are treated with at least some respect and not as a collective of derided men and women to be used as cannon-fodder if 'Epic Fury' doesn't go as these two Marvel-Comic characters planned.

Trump marches to the beat of his own drum, and it's so bloody loud that he can't, and doesn't want to, hear anything other than it. He's been elevated by those surrounding him, protecting themselves and their positions by refusing to say anything that might go against his grain; pawing over him reverently with prayers and presents. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't genuinely believe that he's on a par with God.
