I can’t help wondering what would happen if he is found guilty of serious sex offences or Misconduct in Public Office. Would he go to prison? Surely that would be extremely expensive as they would no doubt have to provide 24 hour protection. Perhaps the Tower of London! This is awfulfor the Royal Family.

I can only speak for myself, living in a nursing home I do depend on many audio books

Andrew Lownie is a well respected writer and biographer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Lownie

Possibly 'well researched dirt', but as you say, 'well researched'. He has good sources and understands all the verification that has to be done.

As I have said before, rumours about AMW and his behaviour have been around forever. Surely it is a good thing that someone who is highly rated as a biographer who is meticulous in his research has written a biography in which he has been able to examine all the rumours and whispers and sort out what is true and what is not.

If in doing that he reveals that the person whose biography he is writing is a deeply unpleasant person, with a record of crass behaviour in circumstances where the best diplomatic behaviour is expected and who also treats those who facilitate his life from housemaids to Ambassadors with rudeness and contempt, it is hardly the biographers fault.

No judge in the land would ever find him guilty of anything, unfortunately. The police will drag the case out for as long as possible and he will not be arrested, as everyone would hope.
No-one has ever said no to him even when he was in the navy, or any of the royals for that matter, but at least the other members of the royal family are respectful, whereas he was not.

You’re right.
I don’t think anything will ever be proved against him even if his behaviour merits a court case.

Andrew Lownie: 'well-researched dirt.'

What sort of person spends their time reading this?

Quite a few people on GN have spent their time either reading "Entitled" or reading about it. Speaking for myself, I felt I had a vested interest in reading it as Andrew was a member of my country's royal family and as a British tax payer I wanted to know how he spent fifteen million pounds of taxpayers' money.

"Entitled" is not a collection of idle rumours and Andrew Lownie is not a gossip columnist. The book was meticulously fact checked and it was vetted by lawyers before publication.

I have no idea what sort of books you spend your time reading eazybee: and it would not be my place to criticise your choices.

AMW is not exactly leading the life of Reilly at the moment. banished to a rural property, and no doubt frozen out by the turnip toffs that form the Wales' Norfolk friends. He is living alone and in isolation.

He is not a man with any intellectual resources. His only interests seem to be golf and riding. He is virtually under house arrest, and likely to be so for the rest of his life. His reputation, such as he had, has been destroyed, he has been shown up to be a sleezy old man of limited intellectual capacity who has been sent to coventry by everyone including his own family.

He might actually be better off in prison with a fixed term and the chance of parole afte serving half his sentence.

Anniebach Mon 25-May-26 12:12:13

If he lived

M0nica Mon 25-May-26 22:04:47

Why on earth shouldn't he? he was at Gordonstoun so is used to living in a community under rough discipline.

Thee women he is accuse dof assaulting were under age, but only +/- a year or so. That is defence for his behaviour but is very different from being acused og attacking prepubertal girls or babies. I think he would actually do uite well in prison.

Anniebach Mon 25-May-26 22:52:09

I don’t agree

nanna8 Tue 26-May-26 03:01:45

I’d bet he spends his time playing computer games and riding his horses around. Not particularly rough or disciplined. I’d also be willing to bet he still has several loyal likeminded friends. Got to stay together, chaps, what.

M0nica Tue 26-May-26 10:13:21

Previous post: para 2, line 2 should read That is NOT a defence for his behaviour.

If the Misconduct in Public Office charge or any other charge goes to trial it will be a jury that determines whther AMBW is guilty or innocent.

It will be a very public case and the Judge's sentence will necessarily be informed by the usual sentencing guidelines- if not there would be a public outcry internationally.

At the time of AMBW's arrest King Charles did say the law must take its course...

I'd like to know where Fergie is in hiding at; got to be somewhere off the beaten track, with someone mega rich and willing to pay for her hedonism. Wonder if her and AMW are in close contact or if they're avoiding each other like the plague.

Silvershadow Tue 26-May-26 14:17:18

I’ve read Entitled. What an eye opener. As others have said well researched and, no doubt, gone over by lawyers before being published. I expect it scratches the surface. Others may well be implicated if the whole truth comes out. As for Fergie, she’ll be being well protected by somebody with money until it’s worth her while to reappear. I feel the daughters are also involved somehow.

Casdon Tue 26-May-26 14:18:42

I don’t care where she is, presumably staying with friends somewhere. I doubt she wants anything to do with her ex husband after what has happened, and the feeling may well be mutual. I doubt whether she will resurface in the UK for a long time, I wouldn’t if I were her.

crazyH Tue 26-May-26 14:27:12

I’m almost sure AMW and Fergie are in regular contact.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she has already been smuggled into his Sandringham abode . They have a few friends left …

Cardamom Tue 26-May-26 14:36:59

Not sure about thatcrazyH; those two share the same moral compass; money, sex, money, power and money, but I doubt she's holed up with him in his "cottage"; it's not grand enough, too risky if she tries to go outside and gets spotted and he's no longer rich or powerful enough to be of use to her.

Anniebach Tue 26-May-26 15:12:26

Living in hiding with him would make her next book a best seller?

I thoght that it was known that she was staying at some Alpine wellness retreat.

Hate to say it but she is likely cosying up to potential friends and future sponsors. Maybe I am being cynical here, though. Not knowing her personally I can only go by what is reported and it isn’t very flattering.

Samwam Wed 27-May-26 10:38:54

Yes Charles did say the law must take its course, however letters have been sent warning about abiding by confidentiality agreements!

LemonJam Wed 27-May-26 11:07:45

I think in context of AMBW's public arrest and now Thames Valley Police request for people to step forward with any information/evidence/concerns - criminal investigations over ride any historical or existing employment contract confidentiality agreements.

The RF would wholly castigated and reviled in the international press if such letters were sent by the RF AFTER Charle's statement that "the law must take its course". and come to light during TVP AMBW criminal investigation.

I agree and for years I actually liked her (not that I knew her personally!)

MissAdventure Wed 27-May-26 19:42:39

She's probably being jolly well probed, too. smile
