How wonderful you work hard and buy a nice house in a nice area and Andy Burnham PM wants to put foreign men we know nothing about who come from third world countries in the house next door to you and your family and the final straw is they don't have to pay a penny it's all free for them, no wonder they are rushing to board the Mega Boats bringing in 230 men a time here. Ain't life grand well it is for them, utopia.

You work hard and buy a nice house in a working class poorer area etc etc etc

Where is this leafy village in a wealthy area that has room for 1250 new people and residents organising a revolt?

I'd like to see the source before I can even start to wonder about what I think. I'm not sure I'd see it as 'wonderful', but I'm not sure that people in poor areas should have so many people in their areas either. Hostels aren't the best idea, IMO - better that people are housed in smaller groups over a wide range of areas.

Well looking online the words wealthy, more affluent and middle class seem to be being used interchangeably. Exactly the level of accuracy and detail we have come to expect in the thoughtful considered discussions that are held about migrants.

The better off revolt while others pay the tab? I'm assuming it must be an old Baracks or something. without more information how can we comment?

Good for AB.

Never mind all those gross assumptions 🙄

Locally we have sort of large group homes in old large houses. It does seem better that way. It cant be in the very poshest areas of a city as in cost of renting an old house but there is one not to far away.

It’s a mothballed MOD barracks, Paddington residents have voted to secede themselves from the UK in protest.

I think most people work hard. I don't think that working hard is limited to those who can afford a nice house in a nice area.

Perhaps, rather than denigrate other human beings, you might like to actually research some of their stories and backgrounds.

I’m fully aware that there are some people who appear to genuinely believe every single person seeking asylum is a murderous, rapist, waiting to jump out on us poor unsuspecting women and that they are all economic migrants, who have nothing better to do than jump in a dangerous boat and make a perilous crossing across the channel, and after all, what’s wrong with living in Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia etc., shame on these utter charlatans, and now they want invade our leafy quiet countrysides.

Actually, having read your last para again Sunshinegirls I think it’s pretty ignorant and quite disgusting!

Piddington, sorry…

It's Piddington, Oxfordshire, population 400.

Paddington, Westminster could probably absorb 1,250 extra people with a population of 200,000.

Btw. In my darling new grandson’s neonatal Unit, there’s barely one white face.

Consultants are black, his named nurses are Asian, midwives are also black!

Some of them probably originate from third world countries, their parents might even have been Asylum Seekers!

Thank bloody goodness they are here, every hour they care for our darling Henry is a gift to us and his parents! 💙

I think it would be much better if asylum seekers are not just housed in deprived areas where resentments are already pretty high due to a lack of opportunities/jobs, neither of which are linked to asylum seekers but failed government policies over many decades.
These areas should not bear the brunt of it, nor should asylum seekers.
Housing them in less deprived areas will put less of a burden on an already struggling infrastructure and integration will probably be easier without facing the growing resentments of a hostile community looking for a scapegoat.

Whatever angle the posts about migrants come from I always ask, and will ask again, at what point do we say enough is enough? Quite how many people can this small country absorb?
