Yes, Nigel has won the by-election with approximately 1,000 more votes this time than in the 2024 election, according to ITV breakfast news…

Cossy Fri 14-Aug-26 21:22:49

I cannot help thinking what Farage has “won”? In my eyes he’s such a complete loser!

Found him!

🫥 like it JenniRen!

Facts matter and particularly with someone as controversial as NF. We’re not discussing our favourite TV programme. NF wants to destroys the very fabric of our society . That matters

FGT I’m so sorry that you have been going through some difficult times lately. I enjoy your posts and mainly agree with everything you say.
I cannot believe the spiteful, harsh comments, superior attitudes and lectures from some posters on here.
Don’t let the b*****s get you down.

I suppose we all join in and post. Just that some of us are more diligent about every fact.

That one (12 months prior, counts) passed me by.

Apologies.

Don't apologise. This is a chat forum for grandparents, not the Oxford Union.

There is a forum called ‘Chat’ for people who want to chat.

JenniRen Fri 14-Aug-26 21:39:08

😀 Pointvtaken.

FriedGreenTomatoes, you could ask if GNHQ would put this thread under Chat.
Then all will be well.

(Although technically it is News.)

The source was the Guardian, btw.😁

Thankyou for digging yourself even deeper into that pit of ignorance and confirming my opinion.

ALL New MP's are required to declare all interests within the 12 month period before they took their seat.

publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5803/cmcode/1083/report.html#heading-4

All this has been headline news for months. How could you not know ?

You should not accuse another poster of being ignorant, that is very unkind.

"The source was the Guardian, btw"

Not to be trusted obviously!
Stick to the Daily Mail.

sundowngirl Fri 14-Aug-26 22:20:12

Tuliptree - why do you continue to be so nasty?? There is a massive difference between correcting a fact and using it as an excuse to look down on people

Just stop

Just jumping in to say that Count Binface has also won,
a show at the Edinburgh Festival.
👏 👏 👏

MayBee70 Sat 15-Aug-26 00:42:55

'The last winning by election candidate who did not attend his count was Bobby Sands, and he was an IRA prisoner in the Maze Prison.” (1981)'...

Maremia Sat 15-Aug-26 07:03:20

Didn't Farage do one of his Cameo paid performances, where, on request, for money, he said 'Up the RA'.
If he did say that, for his Cameo price, I wonder what he might consider doing for five million?

Tuliptree

I’m just tired tired tired of this sort of lack of knowledge.

Me too and it’s so so boring to constantly repeat oneself.

I feel the same on the immigration and refugee threads. 😕🙄

Everyone is entitled to hold unfounded opinions. They are not entitled to expect others to treat those opinions as though they were established facts.

I doubt that will happen sundowngirl but you aren’t the only person to note it.
There are ways to correct a poster but sneering and being unpleasant isn’t one of them, neither is being superior.

Sorry Cossy but it’s not right to have different categories of standards. Not everyone chooses to share - you have, FGT has but that doesn’t give either of you a free pass to support far right politicians who want to destroy the NHS by not being informed about their financial donations. I know you don’t but FGT is a firm Reform supporter and has to take responsibility for her posts on that.

Do you ever think before you post? I can’t believe the callous comments you have come out with on this thread.

Oreo Sat 15-Aug-26 08:35:14

Reform may be alarming, tho it seems they are losing popularity now but I think the Greens led by Zack Polanski are even more worrying.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 15-Aug-26 08:37:49

So

Farage refused to turn up at the count because he “didn’t want to be demeaned and humiliated by nobodies”
You know the nobodies that he represents - both who voted for him and who didn’t.

Quite right Nige - leave that to the somebodies on the select Committee looking at your corrupt financial arrangements in parliament.

Maremia Sat 15-Aug-26 08:52:10

And when that happens WW2, such a win for everyone.
🎊

Yes Polanski really worries me.

Galaxy Sat 15-Aug-26 10:48:32

I was worried about polanski. I don't think I am anymore, in my view that ship has sailed.
