Another attempt by Trump to end the war with Iran

Trump is urging other countries to impose sanctions on Iran.
The problem is most of Iran's trade is with China who have called the sanctions illegal and will not be complying.
Iran say they have been waiting for this from Trump and are well prepared.
It will depend on other countries complying. China have said no. No reply yet from India or Russia.

Yes Biden was a big mistake, a better, younger candidate should have taken over, but the Dems need to find that better, younger candidate, from a nation as big as the US there has to be a better pool of candidates to choose from, surely?
I think we saw how Starmer’s unpopularity led to Reform being emboldened. On that I agree with Galaxy and Oreo.

I posted this young man a page or two back.
But he’s worth posting again.
There are lots of his videos online.

If MAGA had not been told for a decade this was what he was going to do, I could excuse it. But that isn't what happened. Instead, they were all warned this is exactly what would happen, and that it would eventually come to roost at home, which it has. So yes, I DO blame the voters in this case. They chose to vote for him 3 times. They are getting what they asked for, they just didn't understand it would hurt them as well. That is their problem. Maybe they should take their own advice and pull themselves up by their bootstraps and stop asking for a handout from the government.

And honestly, I bet that farmer is wishing she could have grown up and overlooked a laugh, which is one of the most childish reasons to not vote for someone I have ever heard of in my entire life. He told farmers he was going to deport their workers and they cheered him on. They don't get to expect anyone to feel sorry for them when they were wishing for the downfall of Democracy less than a year ago. They are currently today celebrating what they think is the downfall of Canada because of the trade war. Which is so far from reality is it ridiculous.

Here is another little detail that MAGA hasn't considered. Our Assisted Living facilities are full of Somalis on work visa and Trump just revoked their status. I spent 10 years being the sole caretaker to my grandmother. It is a full time job. They arent going on like having to bring their elders home with dementia because all of the workers have been deported.

I have watched American citizens being gunned down by a gestapo like group of criminals. I have watched people lose health care and food for their kids. I have no sympathy for anyone who knowingly chose to do this to others and got upset when it hurt themselves too.

Again I could never vote for a party that talked about people as above. Just not my values.

Galaxy Thu 27-Aug-26 18:05:53

Please dont follow this advice for reform unless you want them to succeed of course.

Which party talks as you are assuming?

AGAA4 Thu 27-Aug-26 19:35:10

Galaxy

I would never vote for any party that blamed voters for their own failings. I dont blame them at all for voting trump.

Parties don't blame voters but voters can blame themselves.
I voted Tory for a long time but they became intolerable and I felt bad that I had supported them. They didn't blame me for voting for them.

Fallingstar Thu 27-Aug-26 19:51:20

I have also voted Tory and regretted it the last time I did it AGAA4. I blamed myself. And am sure there are MAGA voters blaming themselves right now.
My older sister and a neighbour of mine voted Brexit and blame themselves now.
It happens. Sadly there are such a lot of lies peddled in the media that it is getting harder to make an informed decision.

😕😕😕 I too have zero sympathy for any of his supporters and voters.

I think it’s a stretch to blame Trump for that 😂

Oh, I dont know about that - i wouldn't put anything past him grin

imaround Thu 27-Aug-26 20:56:45

It sure what that was, but absolutely nothing would surprise me. Nothing. It is like living in the Twilight Zone.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 27-Aug-26 21:40:08

The NYT are reporting that the CIA paid a visit to Moscow to warn Putin that he is losing the war and needs to get an agreement, otherwise the country and its economy will be in the skids.

🤞🤞here’s hoping.

Meanwhile Trump is fluffing about, signing an order to rename Lake Ontario As Lake America. His pettiness knows no bounds.

Smileless2012 Fri 28-Aug-26 07:34:47

Well he can call it what he likes, no one else will.

AGAA4 Fri 28-Aug-26 07:47:09

Carney has said it is Lake Ontario and always will be.
Hasn't Trump got better things to do - like sorting out a war with Iran.

He doesn’t know how to. He swallowed Netenyahu’s line, and now find himself in a perpetual war just as Netanyahu intended.

AGAA4 Fri 28-Aug-26 08:59:56

Trump is engaging in trivia because he can't find a way out of the war.

He is now thinking of renaming either the Pacific or Atlantic ocean to reflect the greatness of the USA.
He really is delusional.

grumppa Fri 28-Aug-26 09:06:59

Look out for Lake Superior Trump.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 28-Aug-26 09:37:09

I think we should re-name Trump - Caligula.

Very apt. He made his horse a consul. Sounds as delusional as Trump

Wyllow3 Fri 28-Aug-26 10:46:46

Parallels with the later Roman Emperors have been on my mind awhile aurally, spot on. I'll share one of the examples - for the celebration of US independence, are we getting the finest examples of US art, its leading industrial achievements, its utter beauty and national parks, the fight for equality celebrated...the richness so many different immigrants over time has brought to the country from the very very start, the founding Fathers (well and mothers too!)

no - instead the flagship enterprise is closing chunks of Washington DC down for a road racing circuit round the city. Yes for real. and Trump of course starting the race off.

As in Roman Emperors trying to "keep the people happy"
Just waiting for the equivalent of Gladiators fighting to the death with howling crowds and Trump there to give the thumbs up or down.

AGAA4 Fri 28-Aug-26 11:43:12

Trump does like cage fights with bare chested men covered in blood. Not a huge leap away from.the gladiators.

Fallingstar Fri 28-Aug-26 11:46:25

Wanted to quote and second your post about Trump being renamed Caligula Whitewavemark but a pop up for Butlins keeps covering the quote facility. Very annoying and has happened before.
Anyway am all for renaming Trump but some of the titles could get me banned from here 😬
