For Jennifer Eccles, and any other wildly ill-informed rabble-rousers, the BBC report states :- "Villagers in Piddington, near Bicester, voted on Tuesday over Home Office proposals to house up to 1,256 male asylum seekers at nearby MoD Bicester.".
That camp is some 5 miles away from Piddington, and there are several villages closer to the camp whose residents seem less alarmed. Just WHY (please DO tell us?) would a band of marauding immigrants choose to trek over to Piddington, which has a small village hall, and a church, and that's about it??
Bicester itself has more obvious attractions (depending if you've been there?!), and most certainly so does the well-known Bicester Shopping Village, with a mass of discount 'brand' stores to explore? I'd suggest that Piddington is more likely to get as many immigrant visitors as John O'Groats.
Oh, and their 'Secession' vote, that got a bunch of comments on several forums along the lines of "fine, cut off their gas, elecricity and water, also phone and i'net signal, hope they can manage without?". [The same points would apply to the recent vote by regional parliaments for Wales, Scotland and N Ireland to 'withdraw' from Westminster. They'd better start writing systems re pensions, policing, social security, energy, defence, taxation etc as that will take them quite a while".]
