Hasn't it been withdrawn now.

I hadn't seen the pictures but it was wrong on every level and should never have been proposed in the first place.

It would of course have been far better if the award had never been presented; what were they thinking?

It’s a Mandelson moment, isn’t it? In his case, appointed to a top job with lashings of praise from all sides despite knowledge of his unsavoury past. Not quite the same as more was revealed later in the Epstein files.

This case, the Christian church giving an award for reconciliation and interfaith cooperation without taking into account the bigger picture and things that simply can’t be forgiven.

Before all this latest debacle came to light, I was listening to Times Radio quite recently and she came under the spotlight. From what I gather her clergy are struggling, particularly financially and whilst the Church of England has enormous wealth, it does little to alleviate the foot soldiers worries or low morale. I imagine many will leave. One such issue that was raised to illustrate that pov. as I remember it, once their boilers in wherever their vicarage happens to be, gives up the ghost they're expected to replace those with heat pumps, which they simply cannot afford and it seems there's no financial top to their meagre stipends for such eventualities. I suppose they're expected to have private means. At the helm, it sounds as if she is pretty useless the way she presides over a rather disenchanted flock. The CofE are a bit of a mystery to me having been brought up a catholic, a church that encompasses many of their own ills. Nevertheless, somehow my thoughts on the CofE hierarchy it's as if they don't actually have religious convictions they're prepared to stick up for, all a bit wishy washy non committal

Absolutely agree with the opening post, unbelievable! CofE seem to excel in woolly brained spiritual leaders. Anyway what do I know, my catholic upbringing back in the day was all about keeping away from protestant churches. God wasn't there apparently!! according to the nuns that taught us. Now, they did have the courage of their convictions even of they were arse upwards slightly prejudiced.

Our local church seems to have very little to do with the Church of England heirarchy.
I am very glad.

Why does the C of E have such wet and useless leaders? The Archbishop of Canterbury has staff to research anything she has to know or do.
That sickening photo is out there for all time.
